Chris has been on road and track with the new Suzuki GSX-S1000, come and join Chris for a ride around the stunning Yorkshire Dales. Sorry if you don't get the Heineken joke! #suzuki #bikeworld #gsxs1000
Man people just love ragging on suzuki. Yamaha builds a bike with garbage suspension That gets horrible fuel econ....and has a dash that looks like a fitbit. People love it. Suzuki makes a bike better than that one in every way and sell it for the same price....people hate it
Most accurate statement ever! I’ve owned a Vstrom DL1000 and 2 hayabusas. Just bought a 2023 gsx s1000 all black. Best street bike I have ever owned. Money wasn’t an issue. In fact I was going to get a superduke as I race ktm on dirt. But all the tech which I’d never use, reliability issues and the price tag turned me off. I wanted a naked and out of all the options I got the gsx. At 6’3 most other naked bikes felt cramped but the gsx fits me perfect. The nimble feel , power and connectivity to the road is world class. Everyone else is focusing on tech and new and improved which ends up being in the shop more than the road. I wanted simple, reliable, powerful and fun and the gsx is the perfect bike. The price allows me to get full exhaust, ecu flash/tune (as if 152hp isn’t enough) and customize it my way. Wtg Suzuki!!!
@Eric Pittman advertising-review dollars at work. Some companies push limits wich is cool I guess. But if I want a street bike I'm going suzuki all day
@@DasChristoff i agree with you suzuki is pretty good at everything but not the best and the good points are more than enough to make you happy the natural sound of the k5 engine block is impressive
Suzuki motorcycles are incredibly underrated bikes. Look at this one, 150bhp, good handling, good brakes, good fun and a fat wodge of cash in your pocket! Also, it's a Suzuki so there won't be and warranty work as you get on certain European bikes either. And this has a bigger petrol tank too! What's not to like?
Suzuki is number 1 build quality imo and solid bikes i love suzuki then kawi then yamaha/honda. I had an sv650 with 45000 miles on it and it didnt burn any oil or smoke and it pulled like a brand new bike.
This is a solid, real world bike you could use everyday and enjoy - not a garage queen or fair weather toy you’d be scared of getting dirty. Few mods could really turn up the performance and volume too if so desired ☝️
Great review, great rider, best bang for your buck street fighter naked bike. The headlight looks like a Transformer ( I liked it). Suzuki is the best value bike, great performance and reliable.
Great review mate! Hoping they bring out a 750 version. Having owned several 1000cc+ bikes I'm keen for a smaller engine that can be revved out on the street somewhat legally.
I like that Suzuki is doing it's own thing, making their bike as simple and accessible as possible. Some rider demand the latest and greatest gadget from their bike, arguing 'come on, it's year 20XX yada yada'. In our current world now, where everything is too expensive, too complicated, bike like these is like a breath of a fresh air.
The nice thing about Suzuki is they build a nice no frills, affordable bike. They aren't the fanciest, but they are decent, reliable, usually comfortable, and fun to ride. The headlights aren't my favorite, but I can live with them.
I bought my 2016 Gsx s1000 as a leftover model year brand new for $8500. Put about $1600 into the exhaust and power. Tell me what other bike can have so much for so little. Other competitors are twice the price.
Suzuki is just so good at making solid, reliable bikes that work really well in the real world. It's a shame all the internet spec-sheet jockeys are so annoyingly loud...Most of them likely don't even ride.
@@WileECoyote-r4v yeah. Like Suzuki's take on things. If it ain't broke dont fix it. I have a 2001 tl1000r 2001, gsxr750, 2017gsxr1000r, gen2 hayabusa and a gen3 hayabusa on order. N im not gonna lie. Between this and the new katana. I might be adding another to the collection lol. 🤔 They do enough to remain competitive without clogging the machine down with extra nonsense you'll never use. I also like the suspension they use. It's good enough for street and light track use. But not.crazy enougb that it'll jack the price up 5k. Most track guys go to their preferred suspension setup regardless what comes on the bike anyway. Ive seen loads of r1 and bmw guys tossing the electronic forks for conventional style.
Disagree. He is the most talented rider, knowledgeable, affable, comes across as a nice bloke, but i dont think imo that he is as good a bike journalist as John Hogan.
As a proud owner of a 2019 Gixxus 1000, spot on. Installed a wilbers 641 shock, M4 full exhaust, Woolich racing software with the autotune option, and loving life. Much like my beloved Bandit1200, based on the old air/oil cooled GSXR1100, this is the same philosophy 20 years later. Thank you Suzuki.
Well done Suzuki! Some of us know this bike contains one of the most legendary 1L four cylinder engines ever made. K5-K8 long-stroke burly beast. Yes in stock form most everything these days is kind of finicky and muted thanks to emissions regs pushing air-fuel ratios dangerously lean. But this K5 engine really snarls with a unique note when you pop on a catless full pipe, uncork the ECU and see what it's made of. It's reliable as a stone axe. It's been turbocharged, modified, bore/stroked, nitrous oxided, and tuned within an inch of its life and it holds up. Moore Mafia pushed one to 700 horsepower for dragracing. The Stuntfreaks Team RU-vid channel has pounded the crap out of a K5, drowned it in a cold lake, bounced off rev-limiter mercilessly, put it in snowmobiles, big dirtbikes, run it dead of winter, in the summer, crashed it numerous times, and it just keeps going without mechanical or electrical issues. Some of us like to sling a leg over a powerful naked bike, know it's always going to start, provide plenty of poke, feel solid and well built, know there's dealership support all over the place, and not look at valves or shims for over 20,000 miles. It's going to shift, run, behave reliably all of the time. Sometimes the "new hotness" from Italy or Bavaria or Austria just drives up the dollar value into crazy levels of stupid and how many more percentage points of the motorcycle experience do they provide for double the price? Props for going to 5-gallon tank. One thing I would have really liked, a cruise control.
I got a 2016 Triton Blue naked GSXS. Still love it 5 years later. All the performance you need for street bike as well as comfort and reliability. Got mine brand new for $8500 otd. It ain't a fashion model, but its a fantastic motorcycle for the price. Once you take the throttle restrictions out of the ECU, it rips on top. From 8k to 11.5 it pulls stupid hard yet has ample torque everywhere. The stock front pads were Brembos and had rather soft initial bite. A set of SBS RS brake pads transformed the front brake. Strong and progressive. Bites as hard as you want but not grabby. I have EBC HH's on my other bike, and find the SBS pads to be stronger, smoother and quieter.
@HahrtDood. Hardly any issues really apart from exhaust flap valve fault . Bikes done 4k and is amazing . I had a gen 2 and put 6k on it without any issues
Glad to hear it described this way. Getting one as soon as they're available in the US. Im just looking for a somewhat fast road bike that ill be able to handle with my level of experience. Thanks for the review.
@@woodysrockspyro6436 Tempted to but I like the new styling and upgrades. Might would go for the F model if they made that available. The current one looks badass.
Chris Moore and Ricky Gadson just had a "Kawasaki vs. Suzuki" battle of the brands at a drag race. Suzuki proved to be too much for the ZX-10R and won best out of 5. Fully modified suspension, stretch, and tune on a BONE STOCK 1L Suzuki engine and he broke into the 7's in the quarter mile.
Am I the only one who at first glance thought this was a KTM 1290R with a Katana headlight slapped on and a blue paint job? Actually saying that.. sounds kinda cool. Well played Suzuki..
We wanted a Suzuki GSX-S1000R Or a GSX-S750F Or just LED headlights n better throttle response NOT 🤢Suzuki MT10🤮 Was nicest lookin 1000 for the price Or maybe get the 750 but i bet they hit it with the ugly stick to N heavily MOD it 🇱🇷🐉👑10 year local 👑🐉🇱🇷 Lets play broooo
suzuki are the only manufacturer that understands what a motorcycle should be, obtainable, reliable, efficient, interesting and potentially lethal. Anyone can make a perfect bike for 30k, but do it for 10.
Its certainly not ordinary. The issue is the king is ducati streetfighter at 19k. £7000 more. You could but a gixxer 1000 for that, and it would kill it.
Aside form cost of entry, which is very reasonable, these should be very inexpensive to live with. After several European exotics spending more time/money in the shop than on the road, I'm all for slightly less manic and much more time riding.
Man, I really look forward to Chris' reviews on here. He is brilliant. Engaging, knowledgeable and full of credibility. Said it before but I really think he is one of the best in the business at the moment. Top Gear material if the chance comes along.......👊😎
i don't understand why a supersport or a super naked road legal and sales bike need a wing , they are a hazard and totally useless for a normal road usage even at 100 mphs , this useless trend should be stopped
I own a DRZ400E and GSXR 750 and both bikes have not been changed by Suzuki for years. Both are as reliable as your Mum and are as solid as a tank. Ys, I could buy a new fandangled Euro bike but don't think that I could deal with the impending problems.
As always, fantastic review. You make us understand the bike. Also, I just cant stand when people say "You cant take it to the track" as if the only bike you can take is a panigale.
Chris you do fun reviews you sold me on this Suzuki I own a GSXR 750 and want a 2nd bike to ride in comfort lol. Keep up the good work thank you again.
If they could have styled it better, I would be interested but it looks so dull. It's almost a modern equivalent of a 1200 bandit but way more expensive.
I used to ride an r6 for years. Then changed to a triumph speed tripple rs 1050......somewhere along the line i fell out of love with riding. Then i chopped it in for this gsxs1000 2024 and im back with the bug again. Not that the speed was bad atall but this Suzuki just makes me want to ride and get out there amd get after the road. It was then i realised what i was missing......FUN.
No market leader no techy leader...no real new models in donkies... but they evolve I recently got new 1050 xt very very good for me and value...well done suzuki ps wouldn't of said this a year ago😉😉😉
the one it has its more than enough, you buy a bike to ride it not to stay with your eyes in TFT to setup your shit while riding distracting you from the road.
Question for Chris. Would you say you could use this every day in comfort then turn up for the odd trackday and have a fun time on it? I'm seriously thinking of buying one of these as I'm getting too old for sport bikes on the road but I love track days. I'm wanting something that'll do both road and be capable on track.
The OEM Dunlop D214’s require a considerable amount of rider input to initiate steering yet, they’re extremely confident mid corner. Too bad my set lasted only 2600 miles at my road pace. The D214’s are not great in wet conditions either. The D214’s are a full lb lighter in rotating mass yet….I had quicker steering changes with the different tires listed below (Dunlop Roadsmart III’s)….I also experienced less unintended aggressive wheelie’s with the RS III’s. So, after two sets of OEM D214’s, the Dunlop Roadsmart III’s require considerably less input for direction changes. The wet weather performance is superior to the D214’s yet, they don’t seem as confident at full lean under acceleration. The RS III’s easily last 300% the mileage of the D214’s yet, take a tad longer to break in. (Due to the triple compound construction)
Going on 3 years with my gsxr750...I've done a few 225 mile trips with no issues.. I will upgrade when a new model comes out or I might upgrade to a gsxr1000r
It always surprised me how Suzuki is actually perceived. I am the 1st owner of Suzuki SMX 50 2002. It's a 2stroke 50 ccm bike, with 6 gears, and its own power generator. WIch means you have no battery, but you still have lights and indicators. It even has it's own oil reservouir so it lubues itself [old 2strokes were run on mix oil to petrol 1:50. The only issue is that the Neutral and Oil are somehow linked, and shouldn't be. But they work in a funny way since always, but it just gives her character :) Still got it - over these years and 14k km the only things i had to change were the steering head bearing, rear sprocket and 2 chains [but i broke the 1st, cuz i was trying to learn wheelies :D]. Then had GSR 600, but sold her - i miss that bike :)
Almost all naked bikes are ugly these days. Suzuki just follows status quo on styling. It’s got a great engine and the bike is a good bang for your buck. Plus, it’ll be way more reliable and cheaper to maintain than Aprilia, Ducati, KTM, MV Augusta and Triumph. I agree with others. You’re definitely one of the best reviewers at Bike World.
Great review as always! I have a question: for that price would you prefer the more powerful engine of this Suzuki or the lighter/better breaking Duke 890r or Street Triple RS?
The American chip tuner whose channel is Moore Mafia has managed to get 149 Dyno rear wheel HP and more torque too just by flashing the ECU and changing that can. The factory ECU really short sheets this little scooter. But stock is like in the 130s so pretty good.
1 parking tip over and there goes that stupid winglet then you'll have $500 plastic to replace or ride with 1 eye black.Suzuki should of design the bike for riders not for teenagers. It seems lately lot of bikes are made to look like caricatures and why I give credit to Triumph and Moto Guzzi for designing motorcycles that look like one.
