Almost pulled the trigger on a GT urban ash, but I’m glad they released a mahogany version. Definitely the one I’m eyeballing as a step up from my GS mini ‘hog.

My favorite guitar in my collection is my Martin 0015M. I love the sound and playability.. but… I love the look and size of these Taylor’s. I think one of those needs to find it’s way to my collection ! Thanks for such great videos, great information and great playing.

The AD27 sounds “grown up” compared to the other models. There’s not a bad one in the bunch though. For looks alone I would pick the 611 then that AD27. For comfortable playing I would stick with the GT series because I am a smaller player. Taylor is working hard! Let’s see how Martin responds.

Love the GT Blacktop, Probably the one I`ll buy. But my dream guitar would be the GT 811e, it sounds so good and it looks stunningly beautiful, to me it`s the most perfect guitar ! Absolutely smitten with the GT ... Andy Powers is a GENIUS !!

I'm not a big Taylor Fan but that AD27e is awesome! Martin is bringing out new stuff tomorrow I think. I hope it's something interesting instead of the same old thing. Something like Taylor has just done that appeals to people not wanting to break the bank too much.

I love the GT body. I bought a GT UA (no "e") in November 2020 and have not regretted it (except I should have gotten the UAe). This video makes me drool, but my wallet says, "You want what?!" Just one of the downsides of being retired.

So Many Guitars, so little time... Last weekend, I drove to central Oregon and back, delivering Christmas musical gifts to sons in law (SILs). My SIL who's been playing a gloss finish Breedlove Atlas dreadnought (with heavy strings through two Sunday services) was as tickled with the all solid wood Breedlove Organic Concert-Torrefied European Spruce. African Mahogany with a light open finish and 12-53 strings. I tried it out before loading the truck, and it had such great open warmth. He has two sets of 11-52s to try, and the new Santa Cruz Parabolic Tension strings. Still enjoying my Cole Clark Angel Redwood/Blackwood.... "Minor Blems" and B-stocks can offer some great performances at a lower outlay.

Wonderful review, guys. So glad to see Taylor go this direction with more American tonewoods. My only wish in your review was to also hear comparisons when strumming with a pick versus finger style. Finger style can enrich rather thin sounding instruments and I think is why the maple sounded warmer here versus other reviews. For me, FYI, I’d go for the GTe Blacktop. Thanks!

I recently had an all mahogany Martin and (believe it or not) I took it back. The mahogany certainly has its place in someone’s tool box/bag of tricks but it isn’t suited for the all-around player/work horse type guitar imo. While it has a great response to touch, and it has amazing sustain, especially when finger picking, it is not the best for strumming. The sound I feel can become compressed, and it’s qualities that make it stand out while fingerpicking become muffled while strumming. The warmth doesn’t shine through as much as it does when you’re finger picking. In other words singer/songwriters or strummers an all mahogany guitar would not be the best option, or if you’re looking for a versatile guitar for all styles an all mahogany wouldn’t be helpful.

I think we're probably split. I (Cooper) fell in love with that GT611e and that AD27e Flametop has got Chris wanting a new guitar. Both are beautiful, but for me, the 611's small body size and wood pairing just make for a special guitar. The Flametop shows off with its all-maple, though. It's hard to pick!

@shaneroberts9466
@shaneroberts9466 2 года назад
This is an OMG moment and what makes Taylor so different from other big name acoustic guitar manufactures. All these new releases are pure excitement but my favorites are the GT Mahogany and Blacktop which I suspected was in Taylor's roadmap. Taylor needs to stop shipping their Mahogany guitars with pickguards installed and ship the pickguards in the case as an option for the owner to install. The first thing I do with all my Taylor Mahogany guitars is remove the pickguard. Given Taylor's success in using Maple for their 6 series it comes as no surprise their ability to use Maple on the AD27 and have it sound good. I think Urban Ash is a good tone wood but the majority of Urban Ash GT's sold are ugly and while sound should be the prime factor aesthetics becomes more important as the price increases, so IMO these latest GT models will impact GT Urban Ash sales regardless of price differences but I expect the GT Mahogany and Blacktop to be comparable enough (should be far less than the 8 series GT) so most buyers wont think twice. Having said all that I probably will never actually buy a GT because I collect GS-Mini's and I would REALLY like to see a "GS-Mini Blacktop" in the future.

So, here's an idea for you guys: upload lossless audio samples of the acoustic guitars you review, alongside the videos. The idea is that we, guitar geeks from cyberspace can compare the sound of different acoustic models remotely. Paid service for users, free for Alamo Music customers. Could partner up to review with some guitar magazine, so it's unbiased reporting. The key are the high definition audio samples.
@mariodriessen9740
@mariodriessen9740 2 года назад
This is the difficulty that we, as consumers, have to deal with these days: before I watched this video's I saw demo's of the exact same guitars, done by another channel. Every single one of these guitars sounded dreadful to me. No body, thin, way too bright, just crappy sounding guitars. So I was expecting to hear a very similar result here. But to my surprise all these guitars sounded great. Very nice bass response on all of them. I could actually hear the sound of mahogany etc. It's probably all a matter of what microphones you're using and how you place them. It happens. But the unfortunate conclusion has to be that we, the consumers, still don't know how these instruments really sound, unless you've been able to physically play them yourself.
@AlamoMusic
@AlamoMusic 2 года назад
True, mic placement and a good recording process is very important to accuratly, as best as possible demonstrate the tone of the instrument on RU-vid. There is still compression taking place so it can never be 100% but our hope is that the comparisons provide a basis for people to use to start and narrow down options. It is a reason we have a good return policy because until you get it in your hands it is difficult to know for sure when ordering a guitar. - Chris
@mariodriessen9740
@mariodriessen9740 2 года назад
@@AlamoMusic : Thanks for your reaction. It’s easier with classic guitars that have been reviewed and compared to other guitars on hundreds of different channels. Especially when you own (for instance) a J-45 and you want something on the other side of the spectrum, like a D-28. Not every video will have the same quality, but you get a good general idea of what the differences are between the two. And this will be more difficult with new guitars like these four. Anyway, I have no complaints about the sound quality of your videos. Thanks again!
