New Team Fortress 2 Fan Reacts to OVERWATCH vs TF2, but explained with food! 

I remember seeing this video forever ago, but going back to it now after reading some of tf2s internal design structure documents and concepts, this was completely intended. Robin Walker (who spearheaded alot of tf2s fundamental design work) basically said, "the best way to get players to operate like a team, is to trick them into thinking they are a team". That isn't verbatim, but that was the basic quote.

Default loadout does show the mercs definitely are only working towards a common goal by shooting the enemy but many unlockables can make most of the characters from full offense into support roles,hybrids, troll-ish yet still effective styles,etc, meaning tf2 can both let you play solo among teammates and also assist them in more ways than just shooting the same person. Overwatch doesnt let you play how you want and forces you to pick a specific character that excells at a specific thing and only that thing.

My personal favorite type of server is a x10 Randomizer server. All the weapon stats are multiplied the catch is you do not get to decide what weapons you choose. You can be scout with a rocket launcher and go on a killing spree or you can be a medic armed with only a fish.

Also remember, that many stuff like Prop Hunt or even Garrys Mod were just created because of modded Couter STrike Source servers.

ngl the gamemodes in tf2 can get kinda wild. hell, someone recently even recreated risk of rain 2 (a well known singleplayer+online co-op 3d roguelike) in tf2 and it works quite well.

4:45 Real quick, TF2 did actually try removing auto balance, and making it an opt in sort of thing. It went horribly due to teams being exceedingly unbalanced whenever someone leaves, leading to more people leaving. Thus the reason Autobalance is back in the game.

You should play x1000 higher tower, it can be quite fun

Of course this was when Overwatch was a stand alone title. No doubt if Doug were to make a follow up video about how the chocolate cake has gotten mold between it's layers of cake and the snickers bar has gone well past it's expiration date.

This video is a classic! but it is a little outdated, for instance OW does have a custom game modes section now, that players can make random modes in. There's one mode that I play occasionally called "Genji Ball" that is a perfected version of a TF2 mode called "pyro Dodge Ball" or something. Where you use airblast or deflect respectively to play hot potato with a projectile.
