A look at some recent work, sketches while away and a return to my abstract sketchbooks. Feeling inspired to start a new daily drawing project with the idea of weekly themes/subjects.
I'm feeling that back to school vibe and hoping to get back to a more consistent art practice - fingers crossed,

You're truely creative Sonia. I love your updates. I missed the Patreon upload yesterday so bonus for me, two videos today. Keep being kind to yourself. I find sometimes I pressure myself and start to stress. As soon as I remember my art is supposed to be fun, I relax. I think every artist has this push and pull within constantly. Fighting procrastination while wanting to create at the same time. Losing the spark can be tricky but we just have to make art. Also good reminder to jump back into our own work for inspiration. I'm eclectic too in styles, but as I look back, I see themes in my work. Recurring symbols and colour palettes. Things that I like and want to play with more. Thank you for being so generous and sharing your work and thoughts with us. Rachelle, Australia ❤

Thanks Rachelle- I have issues allowing myself to enjoy art, like i'm doing something illicit - bit crazy I know but my dad used to joke none of us were allowed to enjoy ourselves in our family- we had to be seen to be 'working '. It's why i totally understand people 'hiding ' their art and support that - Hear you on procrastination! I too love being eclectic with art - I'm feeling on a positive creative path at the moment: I love being home, I'm feeling the benefit of not being on Instagram, I like being small and unknown here and on substack, I feel that creative freedom again - I know this is public but art youtube is so niche and a community of its own which works for me.

I love all the seascapes. Really lovely. I travel around with a small journal and just draw. Then when I have time at home, I paint the sketches. Very lovely color choices.

That's a great idea! I want to do more painting from sketches - feels more creative and also personal , end up looser as well as cannot get too detailed !

Ive been at my least creative for a long time ! Not good and im determined to get back to it starting with some abstract work again - glad ypur back in track and an inspiration to us as always ❤

Go for it! But I know it is hard - man I've taken a few breaks this summer and sometimes my emotional mood gets the best of me. Sometimes a break is good though -feels like a new creative start so hopefully you will get back into the flow soon. Abstracts are my go to for low creative periods.

of course I've 2 on the go : an old library sale book I'm covering up/altering and a cheap A4 plain one ,got a set of 3 off amazon , paper thin but they've worked out get for abstract play .
