Ten additional suggestions as owner of various Model 3 since 2019: 1) stalks in the steering column; 2) parking sensors; 3) rain sensor; 4) adaptive dampers; 5) seats with extension of the seat base; 6) active noise cancelling making use of the 17 speakers; 7) alternative routes in navigation; 8) integration of speed cameras information from 3rd party sources (or Waze integration); 9) option to turn-on automatic closing of windows and AC recirculation when entering tunnels; 10) virtual queues for SuperChargers, with assignment of optimal charging stall.

Are you referring to the ‘vomit screen’? I can only think that the designers have never looked DOWN at a screen or paper or book or whatever for any length of time in a car? Guaranteed to make 99% of people sick after a few minutes. It’s the reason why rear seat screens in any well designed car are always located high in the headrests of the front seats.

I drove a Model Y for a year. I would like to have had a driver's display, but only for the detailed navigation instructions like they offer on the Model X. There were no issues having the speed on the center display. Everything is extremely well thought out and becomes almost natural. Better than any other car I've ever driven. Though I agree, a 360 Birdseye image would be very helpful for parking.

@@ACCA2016 I do not want to be rude, but as far as I know the safest way to drive is to scan the mirrors regularly because looking one way makes you lose your focus and makes you tiered faster. I even check the odometer time to time while I am able to maintain the car speed by the engine noise. But this is the past. So many forget that Tesla makes cars for the future not for the past. I bet there will be regulation not too far in the future when if you have FSD or similar feature you must use it, just like the seatbelt. Than if you whish you can stair the road ahead as hard as you want. 🙂

Currently have a Model Y and it's literally the most amazing car ive ever driven. Still love it to death after 2 years. Saving $300 per month vs a gas car. No issues with it whatsoever. You forget to mention in your review that Teslas are the safest vehicles ever tested by Euro NCAP, which is pretty important. I'll definitely be buying the refreshed Y or 3 someday. A company in the US already said they will be making aftermarket stalks for the refreshed models, which to me is a must.

I actually like the seats a lot…vegan leather is super easy to clean and maintain. I do not want more displays; the large 15 inch is plenty. I will want to try making a 3 point turn or even a 4 point turn in a narrow area and see how not having a stalk will impact my agility. I have had to make a relatively quick 3-4 point turn due to traffic coming on…. So am not sure how it will go without a stalk. Everything else I heard about the new lrm3…sounds wonderful.

The 2 cars ive driven with it I hated it and carried on using my eyes, which I found i could do quicker and more certain. For nav I usually use my phone fixed to the dashboard to the right of my steering wheel anyway and usually look at that for the speed and stalkless, I do not know about that but Im certain will get used too that as everything if you use it long enought. Decent review - no mention of blind spot indicator (or did I miss that?). Also there’s a comment about all those cameras and sensors - is the new model reintroducing sensors again @WhatCar as that would be interesting for parking safety - especially dark car parks with people crossing … just a wee bit of added safety to help spot crossing traffic/people would be good. While I can’t attribute this comment as been reading so many sites recently - I did read one ‘review’ that talked about HW4 (the next hardware motherboard and cameras) having connectors for sensors as well as connectors for cameras but have zero idea if any if that is true. As someone looking for a first EV, and have tried a test drive I’m still trying to work out how well Tesla does ‘night time’ sensing of obstacles/lane keeping, rain and stuff without sensors, just using cameras vs other models (not tried the Ford yet, which is allowed to drive on certain motorways in the UK, but presumably is using sensors) Anyway - thanks for the review - this helps answer (and ask more) questions)

I think losing the indicator stalks is a backwards step, especially as these are haptic buttons, it's already been noted in the Model S when full locking the wheel you easily hit the indicator buttons, the drive mode being moved to the touch screen is a stupid idea, this is making the usability harder for the sake of saving $1 including a physical dedicated component, ,Tesla cars are fantastic but I get the feeling they just change things for the sake of changing them to be different, not due to improving safety or usability, they are taking the minimalist thing a bit too far, German competitors interiors are much more functional and user friendly, take the yoke steering wheel, after the novelty factor wore off, users found it was no good for day to day driving due to having to do multiple turn of the wheel to do 3 point turn, the steering system was not updated to account for the limitations of a yoke, it's a car not a plane, and you need to do 180-deg turns at times as I said changing something for the sake of it.

As a current model 3 owner I think improving the suspension is a great step forward. The current suspension is great in that the car does not roll into corners, however, with tyres at their pressure rating the ride is harsh (reduce tyre pressure a little to improve). The suspension also can thump a bit if it hits a bump in the road. However, having said that, overall it is a great car to drive with responsive steering and amazing acceleration. The bad things are no foot room in the back seat, dumb external door handles, seats that while reasonable are not as comfortable as a BMW 3 series seat, bad positioning of window controls on the driver side door causing accidental opening of rear window, cheap carpet material, not enough sound deadening for road noise, should have a HUD for speed and status info, and the multi functionality of the right hand stalk can be a problem (if you have just been driving a vehicle with the turn indicator on the right and want to turn left in the Tesla accidentally pushing the right stalk up at low speed it will put you in reverse, which is not such a good idea). Oh and while I am at it the whole way the door opens with a push button, but still has an emergency release handle seems pointless and should be redesigned. The there is autopilot, which although a great benefit a lot of the time has serious limitations. This is not FSD but as a taste of FSD it does not inspire confidence. I won’t go through all the issues here, but based on my own experience driving an Australian version it can cause accidents with a tendency to jam on the brakes too soon and too often. I would agree with the comments made about the updated model 3. Removing the stalks is just silly. Using the screen to select forward and reverse is dumb. If the screen fails the vehicle is dead in the water, you need to be outside aware when setting the vehicle in motion, not trying to focus on a screen and hitting/sliding your finger over it. More premium seats would be really good and get rid of the silly external door handles

Overall, it is a very compelling mid-cycle refresh. But it really needs a HUD if not an instrument panel like the Model S/X.

No parking sensors and no stalks is ridiculous. They can shove it I’m afraid. Even Ferraris solution of indicator buttons on either side of the steering wheel is much better.

Guys, can you actually get in the car and put your foot on the break and see just how much illumination happens at the back of the car can you actually show that you know because that’s really important because that tells people behind you what you’re doing so you don’t get rear-ended like seems to happen with a lot of teslasjust watch a couple of Tesla crash videos it seems like they’re always getting rear-ended. Let’s have a look at that idea. That might be a great idea check how much display area lights up when you put your foot on the rear brakes, then start calling the car safe.

No stalks is a dealbreaker, no gear select or driver display I could have lived with. I just can’t understand how it’s even physically possible to activate the indicators to exit a roundabout if driving according to the highway code, I can’t understand how the car can be certified legal for road use. Be a good thing to test/review, people keep saying you will get used to it, but unless you’ve got three arms I can’t see how.

What a stupid comment. Guess why Tesla has removed the stalks? Because in the near future Tesla cars will indicate automatically. Every change in direction will be automatically indicated and you will only need the indicator for overtaking on the highway. That's it. If you don't understand that you are really not suited to drive a Tesla.

Bird eye view can be done with software update. I'm sure they will get to it once they are done with FSD. IMO, Tesla will never let Apple Carplay / Android Auto on their car. Tesla will have their own app store for their cars. They want to get commission fee from the apps just like Apple and Google do.

Why does no one address the fact that tesla should have added another screen specific to the driver, for speed and other info rather than looking at the main center console, like they have on the model s, it looks bizarre without it, and it's in front of rather than glancing down at a screen to guess your speed.

I find your review incomplete and inaccurate especially on the last 3 min. First, you didn't mention new model 3 seats now equipped with both heat and cooling function. 2nd., there is blind spots indicators being placed at the A-pillar which arguably is as good as on the rear view mirror. 3rd, is headup display a good thing to add when you already have 2 screens for you?
