Wow what an awesome experience. LOL we used that terminal for a Disney Cruise . Mine is only 2 weeks old & is same spec as yours Love the white contrast with the Blue
I was in Southampton today and I wondered why I saw so many Y’s, my hunch was right. Well done Tesla for bringing the Tesla thirst over to the UK in an even grander scale. Tesla to take over the world! 😂
Got ours at 4pm yesterday. Great car. Had a bit of a queue at fleet super chargers but we all lined up like good Brits and took turns with everyone telling their own EV stories and helping each other out.
My model 3 is due for delivery 3rd to 17th March, how accurate was that 2-week period for you? First Tesla for me, so I don’t know if the timeframe is accurate
HECK YES!! These things are going to sell like hot cakes. Depending on how big they are in the flesh could be seriously interested... Especially seeing as the Model 2/Q seems like it's going to 5+ years away!
It is funny. We went to Southampton today out for dinner and there were so many Model Y driving out from docks and I was like what is going on and then I realised today is the first delivery of model y. Unfortunately none of them was for me😔 hopefully next round. Again thanks for good video and hard work. I think you are the best car reviewer in UK!!!
Thank you for your comments. I also picked up my Model Y on Saturday. Your comments were more informative than any handover information given me, particular with regard to finding the radio!
Can't wait for 7 seat version with new cells, plus will be nice to have the Model X available again. Can't believe the used inventory prices on Tesla for a 2018 vs buying a new one!
Big thanks for the tip regarding Radio/Spotify. I collected my Model Y a few hours after you, and couldn't for the life of me figure out how to get the radio working. Love the car.
Some of your viewers would REALLY love an exclusive piece with the Police and the Police Tesla, in great depth. Integration of police software into the Tesla screen, and all of the other details of how police specifically use/utilize a Tesla. Cost savings, usefulness, conveniences, unexpected benefits. That way I can share the video with my local police departments and other fleets, municipal or otherwise.
Owning a model y (China build) myself, and I love it, I'm looking forward to hearing from you about some of the impressions you have. Never had any problems. But I still would love to hear if you would consider the extra sound proofing? Which you spoke of in a video a while ago. I added a thicker cover for the boot. That did something for the sound. But road noise is the only weak point I have seen so far. Not that I can complain when comparing it with my old 2014 Volvo v60. But still...
Excellent informative watch. Really impressed by the speed you managed to edit down the footage, add in the fluffy bits, and publish on YT. Bit too early for me to emerge from the house just to pop down to the docks, seeing as it's my only lie-in morning of the week, so this video was more than welcome. Don't be too surprised by the weather - that's Southampton for you. 👍
Congratulations on receiving your car. Last week I saw a white Model Y in London and immediately stopped my car, turned around and parked up behind it to have a better look. I was blown away by the size of the car! Not going to lie, I was very excited. Aesthetically the car just has minimal fuss. Hopefully, one day I will own one.
Great to see the this Y and your other cars at your open day today. Great selection of EV cars you have there. Hadn’t seen a Y in real life before and it was bigger than I thought it’d be… looked almost as big as the X! Loved that original Tesla roadster, too.
We were in Bay C2 so just behind you and also for an 8am pickup. As you say the convoy of MY's coming out the docks was fun even if the "event" itself was a bit cheesy. Massive respect to the logistics planning that must have gone into Saturday!
Thanks, useful. I wish I had seen it yesterday before I was collecting a blue Y with a white interior. The settings in Km were a bit annoying, easy to change. Took a while to work out the radio. Some scuffs on front bumper, Apart from that quality good.
Great to see a UK Model Y on UK roads. Hope to hear lots more about it. I really would like to hear how the 20 & 19 inch fair on UK roads. This is the only thing stopping me pressing the Order button. I’m used to smooth rides that a Q7 gives. Let us know please.
Make sure you test drive one because I reckon as far as ride the Q7 wins by a mile. The 3 & Y are more harsh and direct/ almost go-cart like in comparison to the Q7 but I love my model Y.
Looks great, I was deliberating between the blue and midnight silver, I went for the midnight silver in the end, got to wait till May now before I get mine
Thanks for the video. As Tesla stock owner I'm Interested to understand if you've bought the Y because you feel it's the best option out there right now for your family out of what you've driven? Or more because you know you're going to be shifting a ton of them in future and want to have a deep knowledge of the car?
I couldn’t help noticed the white trim on your door that looks amazing !! I wonder if the Austin and Fremont plant in the US Rae coming like that ? Hope to hear from anyone that has any info . I am awaiting for my delivery in April .
Amazing - interestingly I ordered exactly the same car as you a performance Y in blue with the white interior. I ordered it on the morning that they sent the email to say the Y was coming. I got the email at 1002 and ordered at 1008. But I am still waiting to have my delivery date confirmed and notified - must be crazy demand at the moment. We are moving from a white on white LR AWD model 3 to the performance Y and looking forward to the slightly bigger space and higher driving position. Hopefully we have made a good choice going to the performance and won’t lose too much range or have too harsh a ride. Great video.
Screw efficiency, the big wheels are so much more beautiful. They just look so so much better I got my brake calipers sprayed lime green to go with those rims
Just watched your video, your enthusiasm and excitement come over well - I got infected, for a moment, with that collecting--my-new-car buzz! (last experienced in 2016 when I collected a new Jaguar XE) looking forward to purchasing a Model 3 (real soon now! - hopefully).
You can drag and drop 4 or 5 icons to be displayed at the bottom of the screen from a selection reached by the 3 dots. Last app used is also displayed. A little confusing at first. Quite similar to smartphone screens actually.
( Fab video as always ) While it does seem great to pick the car up from the docks, does feel as though the car could have done with a PDI - basic config and settings should be on point before being delivered to the customer. Plus, while the collection situation is special and unique, if I’m spending this sort of money on a car - it should be spotless
Hi Richard great video, I have the same colour & interior in my Model 3. Also great to see a channel doing RHD cars as we have in Australia. Model Y are not able to be ordered here yet. Was expected early 2022, but most think late 2022 or early 2023 now. Orders for model 3 have taken off and delivery that was only weeks, is now 6mths or more. The new 2022 3’s are arriving with a updated taillights - the indicator segment is much larger, has 2 reversing lights and I think the brake lights are slightly different too. Do they still have a rear fog light? Assume your new car has the new taillights? Regards Paul- Canberra Au.
Interested to know the actual / perceived noise difference from the 19 and 20" (pre-sound proofing I assume you are going to do to this), and the subjective ride comfort impact of the wheel size - 20" look better but I think the 19"'s will be quieter and more comfortable, range maybe but who cares as it will be marginal. PS: Love this video, the Y looks huge externally compared to a M3
Lovely how Tesla staged the event like an airport departure and you look like a posh A-lister flying First Class. Your MY, with 20" Induction wheels, looks very sporty. Could you test your Swedish friend's (Uli in the LA event with the Plaid test drive) New Aero Wheel on them and give an efficiency opinion? I myself have the 2021 Fremont-made RWD, standard range MY, w20" Inductions on Michelins, and love them but wish they were more efficient. Lastly, shout out on the EV Open House!! Love the carnival atmosphere and that it is well attended. Keep up the fantastic content.
Great video thanks. Waiting for orders to open in Australia. Great to know that it will have AMD Ryzen and rear double glazed windows. Thanks so much for letting us know
I'm torn between the Model Y blue with white interior vs white with black interior. I know it's just a matter of preference but any strong feelings one way or the other on the colour? I'm leaning towards white because it's multi coat and it also hides dirt better, but aesthetically I prefer the blue with white interior
Can’t wait to see one on the road. I’m sure I’ll think it’s a model 3 then go nooooo it’s a Y. If it’s a personal Car many happy safe miles with the family in it.
Great content once again. Keep them coming! I'd be interested to know exactly how much wider the Model Y is with the mirrors extended as I can't find a definitive answer anywhere on line. Enjoy the half-term trips in your Y-front(s) 🙂
Hi Richard, love the vids and watched them all. Great work and really useful for a potential buyer. Congrats on the new Y too! I’ve been meaning to mention this for a while but the Model 3 and Y suspension / ride quality issue needs some discussion! I’d like a Y but in any car and EV in particular, ride quality has to be one of the top priorities. The fact it’s so bad in the Y can’t be excused due to its power or need to feel sporty - the suspension is a cock up imo. There are many heavier cars with much more complaint ride so weight has to be discounted. If they wanted to prevent body roll, this can be done by use of stiffer anti roll bars and going less on the spring rate and soft on the dampers. It’s the dampers which take out the bumps and oscillations and there’s no excuse to get that wrong. They could even run stiff springs but still low damping rates and get both the body roll sorted and good damping. Plus with air suspension it’s unforgivable. I’ve driven S and X and both feel to me like they have tyres made from lead. I think they have just overlooked the Europe / uk road quality on this one, which is a shame as it’s making me choose other brands. I’d be getting a lease so can’t go down the aftermarket suspension route.
I drove a Y a couple of weekends ago (part of a Tesla event) and the ride quality was very poor (the Y was on 20" wheels). I am reserving judgement until I try the 19" wheels - but it's the one factor that is currently preventing my purchase.
When's your next video, really looking forward to learning about the Y. Have a 3 and due to change next March and hoping the 4680 will be in place in Germany by then
Great video, I’m hopefully picking mine up in few months, waiting time is quite long now, can I ask when do you get your registration plate number because you need to insure before you pick up.. Thank you
M3 LR (China) owner. I really want this main screen swivel thing. Screen glare is the *only* thing that really pi**es me off - and yes, I have fitted an anti-glare screen protector thing. (useless)
Ha Ha... You're just such a fancy-nancy with your brand new Model Y, aren't you, Richard...! 🤣 Great colour combo, by the way - reminds me of the old Merc 190E 2.6 I had back in 90s. 😎
Thanks for that. Great informative video as always. Just one question - is there any way of softening the ride?. I had a test drive the other day and did find it a hard bumpy ride which is a shame as I loved everything else
