In 20015 decided to go to college for my associates in business to own a salon. And while I was in college, my state law changed. Long story shorter, lol I had to retest to renew my license. Lord I wish Minnesota had videos like this. Im taking my boards to transfer and each state has little differences. I feel like I am in the dark with how they want things done.
These videos are very helpful! I’m a bit confused though when it comes to the eyelash. Our instructors say he have to remove the lashes, but I read where you told someone else not to. 😕
Hi Remove the eyelash after you raise your hand and show them? Or when exactly is your instructor saying to remove? Once you apply the lash and do all you need to do, you do not have to remove the lash you can keep it on the mannequin it will not interfere with the rest of the test, but if you choose to remove it , I don’t see why that would be a problem either usually our students just leave it on.
@@GlamAndBeyond on the haircut when the girl beside me got done they asked her for a comb so they can Check the haircut. I almost threw mine away!!! So I’d say remember to leave a comb out ... I Almost had a perfect score on my haircut but I didn’t have time to sweep so they took 1 point off . But almost a perfect score ❤️! And I did perfect on my monomer, facial & eyelashes.
All students should know that you sanitize your hands before and after you open your kit to avoid cross contamination, the videos are not perfect but they have helped many passed.
Is this process up to date iam going to be taking practical probably in august and my school is closed now because of virus so cant ask teacher or go up to school so i will be training from your video just want to know is this the procedure for 2020
I've noticed you leave the bag of the service to the side, not sure but i thought that would go to the trash after you take out everything out of the bag and then you would throw it to trash?
You can if you want to. Notice how everything that is disposable goes into the trash, everything that is not once you are done with the section goes back in the bag and than back into the kit or you can throw it in the trash everyone does it different. You can go in and out of your kit as many times as you need as long as you are sanitizing your hands each time to avoid cross contamination.
hello! per your video u say always sanitize hands before opening container i noticed the student while grabbing cotton rounds after removing creams didnt sanitize is that considered cross contamination when she open the cotton container and didnt sanitize or should she have sanitized after massaging then opened container or would my sanitizer be contaminated cuz i had cream on my hands... not trying to be rude im just so scared about this test i wanna make sure i get it right
These videos are not perfect by any means. They were posted to be a source and a simple visual and not to replace any type of teaching from your instructor or school. Of course you want to sanitize your hands as much as possible but when you are working under pressure and very nervous things happen you just want to perform everything the best you can and promise you will be 👍🏼
Cosmetology facial practical yes apply moisturizer is the final step. Look for the link in the description for the latest psi packet for the Cosmetology practical test.
for everything are we supposed to drape first or set up the table first? like sanitize hands, epa table, sanititze hands, then drape the maniquine right?
I’m so nervous I keep wondering if I should sanitize my hands every single time I go back into the spatulas and before I open another container ( going back into the cotton rounds)
I have no link to give you but my esthetician do no use this type of mannequin for their test they use a mannequin thats more so for "eyelash extensions or makeup" that lays more flat. Im sure you can find one on Amazon.
😐 honestly I really do not know if they will or not , it does not mention nail length of the student (you) on the psi bulletin If you were an esthetician student I would for sure say (no long nails) but your a cosmetologist. Do everything to the best of your ability, focus on finishing every section and disinfection you will pass try to relax and focus on what you are doing only. 🙏🏼
It depends if you plan on changing the draping completely for each section. If you do than remove the draping than raise your hand. If you plan on keeping the same drape for the eyelash, facial, and waxing before you raise your hand only remove the top towel , and than raise your hand. You will add a new towel to the mannequin once starting the next section. Hope this makes sense.
I see what you are asking the reason you sanitize your hands alot is to avoid cross contamination, if its possible do it (just dont grab so much sanitizer and dont go over the top of your hands) and the reason the spatula is thrown away is because they want you to keep station clean and that you are disposing of all trash. Hope this makes sence.
Yes the blood exposure is the last part for the esthetician practical. Look for the esthetician practical psi bulletin to better help you with what is on the esthetic exam.

Your videos are great and have helped me more than my instructors. I was just very confused by why she told me pack foil paper, my exam is in 2 weeks and she hasn’t even go over the material with me due to how busy she is with others.

@@leticiaholt1998 NO no more models for the test , also you will no longer be doing a manicure. You will be doing 1 acrylic nail on a small plastic finger for the new Cosmetology practical test.
Hi Please go to my Channel and look for the Cosmetology play list and look for the what’s inside the cosmetology state board kit, I go through each bag and what’s inside it will help you tons. Also make sure you have the latest psi packet which tells you which tells you items they do no want you to label. ❤️
@@jadechevez7485 we train all of our students to disinfect before starting and after finishing each section . Yes it’s a lot of disinfecting but hey better to be extra 😂
Do we remove draping after each service then raise hand? I seen some videos student kept draping after cleaning up...Is that only for certain services?
Yes some students change the draping after each section it’s actually not necessary just depends on which section for example the haircut you will use a cutting cape vs a chemical cape. Unless your drape is soiled you have to change it . Everyone will do something different .

Por que para wax no se usa ni bandana mucho menos la gorra de plástico para facial si asta se mira más profesional que se lo pongamos al maniquí cuando lo bamos aser pero ella me está diciendo que lo ponga para el wax y así deje el maniquí listo para el facial como vz 🤔
liz20008 si avisto que muchos lo asen así, todos los estudiantes son entrenados un poco differente pero lo importante es a ser todo como lo pidan y igual así como te dice tu instructora esta bien también.
It depends, some students choose to change the cape out almost after each section others only change it only a few times. So depends on what you are going to decide to do but if I were you I would have at least 3 ready, 1 being a hair cutting cape.
I totally get that but it sucks they dont teach the students to give the client a more enjoyable facial. If I wanted someone to just use cotton swabs and wipe my face down, I could do that at home. U go for the experience as well as the treatment. This is a great tutorial for the exams etc. I just mean in general, the schools dont seem to care about client enjoyment, luckily estheticians do when they actually get out in the real world
Melissa Bridges agree most not all but most cosmetology schools only teach those in cosmetology program how to do the simple facial for state board only. Esthetic program in the other hand is for the full experience and Ins and outs of skin knowledge.
