Man that looks like a good deal. I'm looking at possibly a 8114 or similar next year. We have a lot of hilly ground so a side slinger would work well for me. Might even sling lime down the hillsides with one if it won't bridge.
I got a used 8118 10 years ago like new clean gutter everyday in fall-winter-spring then get 2nd load pen pack to clean it out so it does not freeze up augers-hammers-sides-50 tomorrow i wont need 2nd load. .DO NOT put any old round bale hay in it top auger well wrap up then bend auger or break bearing mounts in back if really rusty then chain in back wont stay on more then 10 seconds ... cost me $3200 it did both ! ! Grease the the front-back augers 25 loads 30 pumps a piece-running ! OR the SOUPY STUFF will get in the oil bath in front and leak on back chain rust it up in 30 days then u need newone $98
I've got an older smaller knight. Good rig, I've posted some videos of it. I compost most of my manure, but the occasion hay packed shit goes a little slow through it.
We use a big Myers v spreader on an 8430 and I like it just in the winter you have to run pack or spoilage thru it last thing to the augers don't freeze up
Looks pretty solid we have a two beater horizontal hagendorn spreader we where looking at vertical spreaders but they are about 60-70k and beef prices are not that good lol
If you haven't already check over the bolts on the hammers. Despite having nylon bushings around them they will wear thin enough to break and chuck those hammers off the drum. I never spread slurry with one of those but the gehl slinger we had would paint it on as thick or thin as you wanted.
I got a 1315 gehl that beats the hell out of a box spreader but it bridges in the winter time. If I ever feel like spending 25k on a new one it would be a Leo ag, there like a knight Slinger only bigger finer flighting on the augers, stainless discharge throat, and the augers drive independent up front in the oil case and there about a third cheaper than a knight. Still spending 20-35k on a shit spreader is painful.
Leave the door open on the spreader during the Winter so than it wouldn't get frozen shut. What part of Iowa do you live in? I'm from Eastern Iowa, about 45 min from Dubuque
Iowadaryboys- Sure looks like it I looked on the internet and in the fastline and stuff and they where more expensive but glad you guys got what yo wanted.
there is another spot for you to put the jack when you are not using in if you are sitting in the tractor facing foward on your right side on the front of the spreader like infront of the front tire of the spreader. please say in your next video if you saw my comment and see the spot for the jack.
iowadairyboys thanks for replying we got similar spreader it makes it nice to have it tucked away so it doesn't hit the ground or catch shit in the feild expecially corn stalks
