Before I got mine, other purchasers recommended stoning the faces and edges of the shear to remove any burrs, which I did - and it has been cutting very cleanly and accurately since.

I bought the same thing during the spring of this year as well. Got mine for $250 + tax. :) Totally dissembled and cleaned it, but haven't used the little fellow for anything important besides some playing with the shear. At some point I'm going to need it for some model projects that are in the work queue, but that might be awhile. I got the manual with mine, but you didn't miss much as I d/l'ed the one from Grizzly as well. As you noted, it's the same product that other vendors sell, but much cheaper. Vevor Las Vegas!
