amazing film, made me cry to see all the old places I remember so well,, Getting old is rubbish,,

Brave new world! But we all got cars and more houses were needed. So, here we are. Lovely little film, thank you.

This is true treasure for me. I lived in highfield lane off Queensway and left aged 9 in 1961 so this really is where I played cycled went to school half my mates houses are in this little film. What a gem thank you so much for posting it

Thanks for posting the film, it brings back happy memories of my early 1960s home town. Everything was upbeat and the future was bright, such a great place to live back then.

Saw my restaurant (Restaurant 65) in the Old Town high street that brought back memories.

Love it, this is the Hemel of my early childhood (arrived in 1963 as a 3 year old.) Didn't see any shots of our neighbourhood though (Leverstock Green) although that area may not have been within the new town yet;when we moved there, the house was brand new and the estate was still being built. I can still remember watching the diggers and dumper trucks from the window. Actually I think the locals in Leverstock Green still like to think of themselves as not being part of Hemel and having been back in recent years, sadly I can understand why. Leverstock Green is as nice as ever, probably nicer as the newly planted grassy areas and saplings are now mature and give it a green feel. The prices there say it all. But the rest of Hemel.... oh dear! It's as though after they built it, they forgot about it and left it to rot.

6:40… Multi Core Solders! I’ll never forget my bizarre job interview there. I walked into the managers office, my chair was positioned in the middle of the floor 10 fee from his desk so I picked it up and moved it closer. The manager told me to put it back where it was; it was shaping up to be a David Brent style interview. So I returned the chair, and kept on walking right out of the door. Interview terminated!

hi patrick, well done for putting film on you tube, one shot in adeyfield park acoss to adeyfield school shows some 4 metal towers on school property i have no idea what they were used for. there was a film made in the 60s about highfield too. thanks dolores

We knew how to look after our population back then. Too many years of Conservative governments shrinking local and central government and this is why we find our country in the state that it is today.

The rot set in when New Towns Com handed everything over to the council and Hemel gone downhill ever since just look at it in 2023 and what will it look like in 10 years time when you watch this vid in 2033!!!
