Great video and easy to follow! I have an HP laptop. After selecting print, I selected "Microsoft Print to PDF" in the printer drop down. I selected it again in the other dialog box. Then I saved it as a PDF. I opened the PDF file and snipping tool in order to save it as a .png file. Everything else was the same.
@@jessicaguillory9048 Not having your luck. I can't get the option to flatten when I select the "glitter" text but I'll keep trying. I did remember to hide the background word so not sure what else to try. Wondering if you had any trouble with this originally.
As soon as I hit send to printer on my PC, I used the snippet tool and saved it and followed your directions from there, it was so easy! Thank you so much! I love your videos!
This is a fantastic video on how to do this! I am on a PC and I don't have a printer so I saved it as a PDF. Then I used a PDF to PNG converter and continued through the rest of the video! GREAT job! Very helpful and it worked!
I'm brand new to Cricut and DS and I'm still feeling my way around, but I'm SO glad I found this channel. He always explains everything in such detail and goes slowly enough so that you don't get lost during his tutorials.....

@@mrcraftypants I was able to make it to the flatten and print part but it doesn't allow me to open in preview on my PC... Do you have any idea how others have been able to accomplish this.

Someone else may have come up with this, but using my PC, I took out the grid lines on Cricut workspace, did a print screen of my name using the I Love Glitter font, and brought the print screen into Paint. I cropped the lettering using the Paint program, and saved it as a jpg. I then went back into Cricut design space and downloaded my jpg copy of the name and continued as you did to create the rest of the project. This was so much fun! Now to use some of my permanent vinyl (Christmas present) to cut it out. I ended up putting up a name on the make-shift blind I have in my sewing room to block out the blaring sun in the summer.
I just bought a Cricut and have been watching videos all day, because I am totally in the dark. This is the BEST video I have watched for the knock out method, and on a macbook!!!Yay....Thanks...

Just wanted to stop by real quick and say thank you! Like a lot of others, I have seen knockout videos and didn't really understand what they were doing. And I would've never known that the latest update would make most other videos on this obsolete. On top of that, I had some troubles getting the slice option to work, and reading through the comments helped me figure it out. Thank you for taking your time to do this. Mr. Crafty I am so glad I found you. I am new to this cricut thing and you make this look so much easier. I have watched a ton of other videos and just can’t get it to do what they do. I use a PC so I will give it a try and let you know if it works.
Worked with regular pc, I just had to save the flattened letters to a pdf, snipped the pdf image, and then saved it as a png. Worked perfectly. Thank you for this awesome video.
I’ve been trying to do this knockout for a couple days without success. Thank you so much for your easy to see and understand how to do it. I just watched it quickly and saw some mistakes I was making. So back to the computer with my iPad to watch step by step and create a sign like this for my son and his wife. I have an HP laptop which uses windows. I found out that when you go into the window to select a printer you click Microsoft Print to PDF then I just used a free converter site to make it .pnf little extra work but so worth it 😍

I was trying so hard to follow your tutorial and it wasn’t working but finally I noticed it was b/c I was using a Joy so I changed it to maker and it worked! I just had to change it back to joy and size it properly to be able to complete my project and make it !!!!
It worked all the way up to the slicing part, so I had to do my own way of slicing but in the end, it did work. This was the easiest slicing video I have seen so far. Oh and YES I SAVED IT!! Woot Woot!!

Thanks so much. I've tried this before using many methods, and the thing I loved learning was to use the Contour button to remove the little bits that just don't look right with the knockout. I look forward to more of your videos.

Great video.Best one I have seen about doing Knock Out! Before I read different ways to do it on a PC, I copied to to a One Note file because I did not have the preview choice. Took it from the one note, where I saved it as a JPG and brought it into DS. Worked for me. I didn't see any snipping tools. But I'm happy with the way it worked.
I used a PC the steps are slightly different when you get to the print part but I was able to save it as a PDF and used a file converter to change it to a PNG and then followed the rest of your directions and it came out perfect :0)

That means the world to me! 😊❤️ As far as a bigger slice, once you slice out the main section from the last name you could reselect the image you used to slice it, move it a tad higher on what would now be the top portion of the last name, select them both and select slice again. You could also lower it onto the bottom portion and do the same thing. I really hope that makes sense. It’s hard to explain it without showing it, lol. If that doesn’t make sense, be sure to request to join the Facebook group and I’ll try to film a short little video and post it in there for you. 😊

So I'm a tried and true PC girl. To get the second png image that was mentioned, I removed the grid on Design Space and then simply used my snip tool and saved image as a png file. I followed the rest of the instructions and was able to create and upload.

Oh wow. Thanks so much for this update. I found tutorials from 2018 and 2019 so I was like I know there has to be a current one...lol...Thanks so much for this tutorial. Pretty precise other than the option to save to the PC doesn't work when selecting the dialog box. I just used snipping tool and saved as PNG and that allowed me to save as the cut and print option. So thanks again. Looking for more from you 🥰
