It’s pretty decent I use mine all the time rebuilding and installing decks and remodel my dads place I had my doubts about it at first but me and my dad were suprised
@@user-qc7me2hs5c these comments like this help. Because I am no wear near even going to be projects like you, so if it works for you then it's definitely going to work for me and my projects (just diy home repair "when needed"). There just wasn't any justification for me to go to a higher price tier. I told myself if I have to use these tools often first before I commit to a more expensive piece, plus by then I would be more experienced and if an upgrade is needed I can more comfortably make a choice.
I was a little worried about installing the blade after reading a couple of reviews. But it was amazingly easy. Took about 1 minute. Works great ru-vid.comUgkxjpBI8OOeUXib_iT7UomCrQ-uauwZJ62c . Cuts easily and is perfect for pocket cuts I needed to make for replacing some old deck boards.
I won Ryobi's old 6 piece set that you guys gave away a couple of years ago. It's been great for DIY stuff around the house. I use the drill, impact driver, and flashlight all the time. The little circular saw is kind of weak, and one of the batteries crapped out after about 6 months, but I've been extremely happy with the tools other than that. I've got a corded circular saw anyway, so I just use the Ryobi for small stuff and it does great. It just has trouble when you get to something like a 2x4. The reciprocating saw is better than I expected. I had a mulberry tree that died in my backyard this summer. It was about 7" at the base. I put a Diablo blade in it, and that recip saw went right through it. Mulberry is some hard wood, too. Harder than maple. I saved the bigger pieces for some future woodworking projects. Thanks again for giving that set away! You guys are awesome!
4 years after this video was made (2024) I've bought the updated version of this awesome kit. Same tools, different style or minor changes, but the same items. I am so happy to see the video, get a few tips and be able to say thank you! Also think it's amazing to say that it still costs the same! $199.00 and I'm happy with that price. Thanks again.
I just bought. I used the reciprocal chainsaw to cut a 10 foot tree and I was able to do it and all it used was a bar of the 4.0 battery. So far I am impressed.
Thanks for explaining so well! I have just started crafting during quarantine and have researched between brands and different batteries, etc. I just clicked over to Home Depot and finally ordered. It is on sale for $199 right now. Can't wait to learn how to use all of it! I have no clue! Ha!
Just drove an hour to get the $199 kit. Worth it! The pieces look cheap at first sight, but they don't feel cheap. Quality stuff for a weekend warrior for sure.
Hello Guys! I just purchased the 6 Piece combo kit with 2 batteries and charger, You guys did a very nice Tutorial, very nice explained. Now I know, and I have a better understanding on how to use the tools. Nice Job!!
Compatibility in battery usage, a great feature. This is what makes Ryobi a great brand. Not for professional contractors but for home projects that require decent tools to build with accuracy and speed, these are right on the money! .I own several brands and against my early judgement of Ryobi I only purchased a corded hand drill and miter saw with this brand. After more than 10 years of using them on home projects with the hand drill in constant usage, I have yet to replace them. Great tools that are shadowed by the more popular brands. The combo kits are awesome! The 1.5AH batteries are great as starter batteries, but a 3AH or higher is much much better if you want that extra power , especially if you have a 7-1/4 circular saw. Great honest product insight video! Thumbs UP!
Apparently Ryobi Days are tomorrow (06/08) in my area and I can't wait!! Thought about going to HF and buy the Bauer kit but was skeptical. I already have Ryobi's string trimmer which is great, might as well buy into their line! Thanks! Stay healthy and well!
For your standard professional DIYer, like most of us watching this are, this stuff is perfect. If a person is a professional contractor, they have the top notch stuff the average person doesn't need but wants. Either way, great review.
I bought a recon impact Ryobi driver. Used it to build my 200 sq. ft. shed. Thought it might break and was surprised it could handle the task. 20lbs of 2 inch screws driven and still works great! I Got about 15 -18Volt Ryobi tools and none have failed so far. Have Maketda, craftsman, DeWalt and porter cable tools that failed.
I just bought this kit, it came with charge, 1 x 1.5 amp, and 2 x 4.0 amp batteries. I have used everything except The ligh añd saws all, love the kit.
i bought the set for less than $215. Said it was used but only the drill was used. Look on ebay for good prices. my first set ever and im glad i got it. Awesome video
I just bought this kit on Cyber Monday for $199 plus free shipping. Comes with a 1.5 and a 4ah battery. I thought it was a good deal for a starter kit.
Awesome review. Definitely going dewalt in the future, done enough research and worked with enough tradesmen to make that decision. But in the meantime for basic house repairs and projects, this entry kit will be great. Done enough research on ryobi to know it's fanbase is loyal!
Most of my tools are Ryobi, with a few exceptions like my Rigid 10 inch contractors table saw, and a Rigid I've never had a problem with anything Ryobi puts out. impact driver.
From my year old kit , the drill, reciprocating saw and multitool burned out the trird time.i used them, they are good tool for small jobs tho I do love the nail gun and accessories, lights, fans, etc
Big Ryobi fan. A few points for you good folks Pro - that flashlight is great. I use mine constantly. Will run about a day and half on the 1.5 AH battery. Great for home in areas prone to power outages, like mine. Con - the charger does not have a maintenance feature. So and early upgrade is to get the general charger or the kit with a general charger and battery. Thanks.
Pruning trees with my m12 saw and a pruning blade takes forever. I have a few Ryobi batteries and charger floating around been looking at one of these great to see it on trees I may purchase one 🤔 Pick up a carbide pruning blade ... There’s a Diablo blade for the m12 circular saw think they’re the same size
I bought this kit for 199 and have been impressed with most of the tools. I have used the reciprocating saw a fair amount for cutting firewood and it is a powerful machine, the stroke is slightly longer than claimed and it strokes faster than my Milwaukee. But the quality is lacking as the gear box is exposed to dust and dirt. Mine has already developed play on the output shaft. Contrary to the marketing claims being that brushless technology isn't the epitome of tool technology. In general it is an improvement, but a marginal one at best. There are certainly brushed tool in the market better than some other brushless tools. One thing to note is that there is more circuitry to fail.
I bought my 6 pc Ryobi kit for $125 about last December from HD. I've had a good time time building different projects. Have bought additional tools & batteries. GREAT value and tool set for a retiree. Now I spend all day building things if the weather is decent out. I recommend the Ryobi brand and the 6 pc kit to start with.
@@eniocastillo9622 I believe it was the first year this set came out, just before Christmas. I went to HD after Christmas and saw about 5 sets in the center aisle on clearance. Saw the price had jumped up online so I grabbed this set which was marked down.
when I was in auto tech school I spent way too much on a nice matco kit. most of it I still haven’t used enough to justify the cost even when I was working in a shop, and what I did use repeatedly broke anyways. with that being said, if you’re just starting out buy the cheap set so you can get more for the money, then overtime replace what you use the most with better quality.
I've been using ryobi tools at my construction company for about 6 years now I have numerous tools and I swear by them better and cheaper than dewalt milwaukie makita
I went to go get a set but didnt just because the multi tool was not a quick change and it looked so cheap comparison to the hp one + version so i went with the dewalt kit
Great channel 👍🇺🇸...solid review. Ryobi is ..The..best DIY platform out there. Besides all the “ normal “ cordless tools , they make an abundance of other super useful cordless tools. Although I’m into Dewalt, Milwaukee and Makita for the majority of my cordless tools, I still own some Ryobi cordless tools. Perfect Christmas gifts for the homeowner.
I wonder if this is an upgrade over my current Black & Decker 20V tools. I’m thinking not enough of an upgrade tool for tool but ryobi has so many more tool options and I could sell what I have, and not pay much money to get into ryobi. I’m a weekend warrior so I don’t need DeWalt or Milwaukee but I’m feeling myself outgrow my B&D stuff sort of
Haha that sounds like a right pain in the backside compared with having a button on the battery you can simply press and get an instant status of battery level. Love my Ryobi batteries with fuel gauge, wouldn't dream of using anything else!
Yes, I've cut a few when I don't feel like dragging out the miter saw. Adjust the blade to cut or flip the 2x4. Make sure you clamp the 2x4 to your workbench.
It would have been nice if they did like a 1.5 and a 4 or some larger battery. Been using Ryobi for years and I’m a big fan of their tools. But they should get rid of that oscillating tool and put the job plus oscillating tool in the kit instead. I just bought that one because the heads are interchangeable with the ridgid. So you can have a small recip saw, jig saw and a few other things run off the power base.
Last Year The Week Before Black Friday I Bought A 9 Ah Battery For $89.99 At HomeDepot. & I Used It In My Little Fan In My Bedroom & It Ran From 6:00 pm That Night Till 4:30 am The Next Morning.
Ryobi makes a few good lawnmowers...(from a Ridgid fan) I've seen alot of good reviews....👇 Your friend has shared a link to a Home Depot product they think you would be interested in seeing: RYOBI 16 in. @@86dieselman while back I tried and they do charge, however they seem to drain pretty quickly. There are some videos out there on how to kind of fix them.
300 bucks for all 6 tools is hard to beat no matter what combination of competitor tools I've looked at. Craftsman would be the main competition for me since I eventually want to get a nail gun, even though Craftsman doesn't make a 23ga pin nailer.
comparable craftsman kit would be CMCKVS402D2 in my opinion. UWO calculations..... If you don't need a recip, and buy an oscillating bare tool, it comes out a little cheaper and has a hardbox cart. I like the quick change on the oscillating tool, but haven't heard any good things about the Craftsman v20 brushed lineup. V20 tools have some better small features like a ratcheting chuck on the cmcd701 drill and rubber anti skid on the impact and drill at least. Caught a deal on the Ryobi kit and ended up with two 4ah batteries though. That fact, with the huge line of Ryobi tools, is what is keeping me with the Ryobi brand. They have also never changed the battery style. Guess I'm just thinking out loud at this point LOL
How do you think these compare to the brushless line that you reviewed a couple years ago? You seem a lot more impressed with the performance of these in comparison.
A few years ago Ryobi let the brushless line go without the new HP batteries. With the HP batteries, Ryobi has a solid brushless line. The video you watched was with normal batteries and the tools were not impressive. Add the new batteries and they wake up!
I had a supersawzall and Makita 40V XGT sawzall as well as M18 Fuel oscillating saw and Vecturo. I shouldn't even be comparing to $400 Vecturo to an oscillating saw that comes with the $200 kit. I don't even use the light. Yeah, I have a huge flood light. But I couldn't resist buying it for only $200.. Really. The first week, I was excited. After that? I don't even know where I put the Ryobi oscillating saw any more. And I don't even care. If my Vecturo is missing, I would go crazy..
@@JoseLopez-je9mx there was an online "exploit" during the holiday sale.... You could get the $129 bundle for under $100... I got the 229 bundle for $189... Plus people were buying multiple sets and selling stuff they didn't want piecemeal.
This is a great DIY first time purchase kit and the batteries included are small. For the price, people can upgrade batteries when needed. The recip and circ saw in this kit are much smaller than Milwaukee's.
@BrandonB311 The kit should come with one small battery and another with a larger capacity. $ 229 for all that?! Holy Crap! No wait! The 9 piece kit currently for $299, with an additional sander, vacuum, and weedwacker- just kicked its ass, plus gives you 2Ah batteries instead!
@@WorkshopAddict I agree...when I bought my 2x tool kit...the batteries were 1.3 Ah & 1.5 Ah...which I had to upgrade to 3 Ah ...I've never had to use my 1.3 or 1.5 Ah batteries again...maybe I can use them for my flashlight or fan ?? but for now they sit in the bag, waiting for use.
I’m still using corded circular saw and hammer drill from 1981. They used to be top notch but nowdays I’m finding the big box house brands a far better deal. There’s a bit of a name tax
@@WorkshopAddict I bought the Drill +Impact +charger with 2 batteries.. $170 (cad) also got the 2x 3ah with charger and bag + Ryobi 18g brad nailer kit for $ 200 (cad) Looking at getting the Recip saw and the Hand vaccuum next...there out of stock now...so I am on the waiting for a sale line up..LOL Thank you for all your good reviews...have a good build day...cheers
@@juanjo322 Oh... how can i buy it, please can you do something, I am from India i cannot purchase on online from here. $199 somehow i can have that, but how to do i don't know. Its my only dream and hope for me
Can I drill concrete blocks with this drill/driver? (I'm from Mexico, our houses are build with concrete blocks) I'm not a professional, only for randomly house use
Ryobi are good tools, and have a nice large line of tools in their arsenal. However why on earth would Ryobi release a 6 tool combo kit for 299.00 that contains a lot of brushed tools. When I can go to Lowe’s and pick up a Kobalt 24v max 6 tool kit that includes all brushless tool for 269.00. Kobalt, Rigid and Ryobi are all on the same level of quality I feel. However the price here don’t add up for what your getting compared to other tools of comparable quality and performance.
WorkshopAddict that’s a little better. However that same Kobalt 24v all brushless kit has been frequently on sale as well for 199.00. So for the 30.00 extra you’ll get all brushless tools. I’m sure their good brushed tools, but theirs better kits for around the same money.
