Wish we could've seen this battle between the Titan-A (staffed by the good guys) vs the Interprid (staffed by Changelings) in Picard S3E5. At least here we could've seen an alternate version where both of them actually battled each other out 🖖🖖

They should have refit the Enterprise D and rechristened her the Enterprise G. Really would have liked to have seen the Galaxy refit from All Good Things 😢

@@02ujtb00626 Or even an Odyssey-Class variant (to go on from the F); personally I would've leaned towards the Yorktown-Class, to give it the dark dual-color highlights. Also, should've left the Titan alone- she earned keeping her name.
Intrepid, intrepid, intrepid, intrepid (nx intrepid, constitution class intrepid, another uss intrepid in ds9, intrepid, intrepid class uss voyager, and a lot of more ships called intrepid that i dont remember.
There's three ships from Picard that have grown on me. The U.S.S. Stargazer and Ross Class from Season 2 as well as the Titan-A. I'm still not happy that they just re-rechristened the Titan-A to the Enterprise-G. It was cheap in my opinion. I'm not much of a fan of the Intrepid design. Mostly because of the secondary hull. It's a shame the Titan lost both times.
I don't like the split-level look of the nacelles for this era. The front Brussard collectors are kinda cool (and taken straight off the front of a 1965 Buick Riviera), but having the blue warp coils interrupted by bits of structure just looks weird. There's also a little too much of the Connie-refit in the saucer section of the Titan A, particularly the glow-y dome thing on the bottom.
After the Iconian war, Starfleet had to use 2 derelict ships to create one functional ship because materials were limited. Iconian war was so devestating to the Federation. Titan-A were one of those ships that were "patch together with 24th century duct tape".
So you like the older style ships? You mean like the Pioneer Class? I think the New Intrepid looks good, and right in line with Federation ships of the past. But I do tend to like the odd/uglier ship designs.
Great video, gotta admit though, not a fan of the Picard era ship designs. Just look clunky. Exception to that is the Excelsior II, that was a fantastic surprise. How about we see the war version vs the original Sovereign?
I agree with you on the new design aesthetics. I feel like the nacelles lack detail and rely too much on glowing elements that appear to have no other function. As for the Intrepid, I like the minimalized secondary hull design that basically has the navigational deflector pod slung underneath (which for some reason reminds me of the Martian tech out of War of the Worlds) with the actual engineering section being almost integrated with the primary hull a la the Miranda class. Clearly it's more maneuverable than the Titan-A/Enterprise-G - though I bet the latter could easily outrun the Intrepid with its huge impulse engine assembly.
To me they look like they're trying too hard to emulate classic Trek; like someone took the Enterprise-A and told an AI art generator to make it look more "sci-fi" and "futuristic". It just feels like a retrograde step back for nostalgia's sake rather than a logical evolution from the TNG era. I'm not mad enough to go and rage about it, I just feel... well, disappointed is the word I'll use.
Pretty sure the loss of Utopia Planitia has nothing to do with Starfleet dragging old ships out of mothballs and refitting them with cannabalized tech from newer ships. I.E. Riker's Titan and Titan-A.
It really makes me wonder why they would do that. Why take a top of the line Luna class Starship with only relatively outdated technology, and then gut it for parts to refit a vessel that is ancient by comparison? It’s the equivalent of scrapping a nuclear powered sub to outfit a Spanish galleon (a little extreme I know, but it gets my point across).
What upgrades would Geordi Laforge make to the Galaxy class if he was allowed to? What if he made the Enterprise D his flagship like Riker did in All Good Things?! Would it have all of the most modern upgrades but still maintain the original looks? Or would he push starfleet for upgrading the entire existing platform. Always easier to upgrade than to build new.
I don't mind the look of these newer ships, but i still prefer the ships crossing from the TMP to TNG eras. The Ambassador is one of my absolute favorites and i wish it had been featured more

Part of it is your tendency to rotate in clockwise versus anti-clockwise manner. I think the Titan could have held on longer if you'd done the opposite. Maybe the AI assumed you would do what you were doing and adjusted.
I’m going to say it. I think the Enterprise F should have had more screen time and praise. They made the odyssey class seem like a pushover and poor design being rushed to be decommissioned.
If there's a warship variant, I think the best place to start is to put it up against Starfleet's OG warship, the Defiant! Maybe two, considering the size difference and the fact that this class is much newer.

Agreed. They leaned REALLY heavily on nostalgia from Kirk-era Trek rather than following any kind of reasonable evolution from TNG. Which is even more baffling when one considers the show literally features Picard.
I think they used Bill Krause’s designs and adapted them for Picard. Those ships were originally designed for the Twenty Third Century not the Twenty Fifth.
Yea I'm with you.. these new ships I'm no fan either badger.. I'm in my 40s I still prefer the 80s and 90s style... my excelsior refit tho.. that's my girl lol.
The Titan is a joke in the show! In one of the episodes the command is issued “fire everything” and all that titan manages are 2 lousy photons.. 😂😂😂 I remember the good old days, when “fire everything” meant full torpedo barrage and all phasers arcs … oh well… titan is the personification of picard and riker on the 1st two episodes… suffering from Alzheimer and arthritis 😂😂😂
I prefer the older styles too. These new ships just don’t feel like a natural evolution. I mean, the pinnacle of StarFleet’s technology before Picard season 3 was the Sovereign Class, with its streamlined edges and easy no neck transition from the saucer into the secondary hull. These new ships don’t feel like a continuation from that design. As far as a target for the war Intrepid, what about the Enterprise F, the Odyssey Class? It’s a good ship that actually feels like a continuation from the Sovereign class design, and it’s quite tough. Should be able to put the War Intrepid through its paces.
The exterior designs of the 'Nu Trek' ships don't bother me too much tbh; I can easily see them being the next evolution of the more streamlined Sovereign design etc. In fact I like the Intrepid design more than the Titan! I just cant stand the interiors of these ships... I agree with you in general, the interior vibe doesn't look very Trek at all, more like generic sci-fi fodder.
The Titan-A has grown on me during season 3 of Picard. I just don't think it's an Enterprise. It's too small and weak. But the intrepid is just an ugly and weird ship. When the first arrived in the episode of Picard I could hardly tell it apart from the Titan from most angles. And I fully agree it doesn't feel like a Star Trek Starship for some reason.

@Jim C I don't think you are to aware of what made the TOS and as a consequence made the TMP era look. TNG era deviated from it, but IMHO in an evolutionary way. This just tries to looks a bit to much like a fan design trying to look TMPish instead of an professional graphical designer that knows why a design works or not. I don't like the nacelles, they look what teenage me would draw to be different and thus totally generic.

Some of the STP ships are OK, but the retrogression back to modernized 23rd century designs - especially the nacelles - I'm not a fan of. The look of the Titan has grown on me, but it really seems nonsensical to suggest a relation between the Titan of Riker's time and this one. To me, Star Trek Online still easily takes the crown with more creative design based on canon.
The new Picard designs haven't grown on me either. With the exception of the Ross class, Odyssey class and the Inquiry Class (minus that horrible Season 1 finale) I honestly found them kinda ugly and unpolished. The minute they brought back the Enterprise-D you can immediately tell the difference in quality. The old school designs were just something special
the new enterprise g is an udder disappointment in Picard it was so weak and pathetic every new enterprise should be superior to the one before it the g was a huge step back
