That speed feature is really clever. Switch knob directions are intuitive and I like it.

It is interesting how it doesn’t stop, but there is still a fixed position. I think I like the direction/action this way better.

Yes. Very appealing for electrical stuff as even the lightest back drag on the ratchet will be too much for the small machine screws in metal boxes, etc. I've got an old SnapOn 1/2 ratchet that is great for sockets in automotive/tight spaces.

I have the Wera ratcheting T-handle part# 416 RA. What I like about that one is it fits my hand well and the T-handle really lets you torque down on a screw more so than a round screwdriver.

So glad I bought one, worth every penny. It's become my most reached for tool in my bag over the last two weeks! Bought it for a new install job, where I'm doing a load of tray, basket and double compartment Lagrand box trunking, which then need zebbing down onto unistrut brackets. I'm constantly quick swapping between an 8mm nut driver bit and a roofing bit. Saves so much time, and my wrists. No more faffing around using a flat head, no lost screws because bits are magnetic. Perfect! My only gripe is it's a tad easy to mistakenly nudge the ratchet into the opposite direction if you're really trying to drive a fastener down. Have to be mindful of your thumb!
@MORGANSMaintenance
@MORGANSMaintenance 2 месяца назад
Yeah there is a fine line for the selector being close enough and too close… I’d rather hit it a time or two than have to use my other hand.
@Milkym0o
@Milkym0o 2 месяца назад
@MORGANSMaintenance Exactly. It's a rare enough occurrence it's not a deal breaker. Only when I'm cranking it and my arm is overhead and reaching over other containment does it tend to happen. It's a quick fix anyhow: quickly notch it back with your thumb, but something a revised version might address.

I like that it is small. I like you, don’t use ratcheting screwdrivers much. The only ratcheting I actually use are the ones with the rolegear mechanism. I have a bunch of them, but I use the gedore one without bit storage the most. I wish they made a short one in the form factor of that Wera (I have the Hazet which is shorter, but the handle is huge with the bit storage). Because I grew up (honestly until fairly recently when I started buying lots of tools) using craftsman hard handle screwdrivers, I am partial to that form as it’s what I am used to holding. Bzeug is a good channel. Bee-zoig.
@MORGANSMaintenance
@MORGANSMaintenance 2 месяца назад
That’s why I don’t use them as much either. It’s not that I don’t see their usefulness, I just have too much muscle and brain memory using regular screwdrivers. I can’t get myself to use the ratcheting function. I didn’t really start trying new tools/ buying different tools till about 7-8 years ago. I was more, it works I’m not trying anything else person. I have come to realize that there is “works” and “works well”. Now that I can afford more, I look for tools that make things enjoyable to get the job done, and not just get the job done.

Hate that adjustment on the vessel. I always manage to switch it by accident. As far as the natural direction change on Wera, I love it. LTT screwdriver has that too and its just so intuitive.

Yeah, this one is kinda the next step in close enough but not too close for one hand. The vessel is close enough, but really too close. I still prefer either to having to use two hands.

@@sandylanceley3860 I've never had the chance to try Anex 397. My last order from Amazon JP got held up by Polish customs because of the EU ban on Russian steel. I really wanted to order that Fujia Kurokin adjustable wrench along with some other Anex items.

Heyco are decent German made screwdrivers. I got the green ascites hard plastic handles for $30 on kc as a filler and was pleasantly surprised. If at the time wera ball drivers were available I'd like to think I'd have gotten set. I see heyco as a semi value brand decent but I have better. Found there way into a family members tool chest and they use them frequently and I scratched an itch to try a new brand while making someone happy.

It’s a mix on people loving/hating their handles. I think it depends on your hand size. Their screwdrivers are a little on the light side for me (I prefer heavier screwdrivers), but they perform well. I haven’t bought many of their other tools.

I really like that.. I’m dyslexic so I think that would be terrific. I don’t really use a ratcheting screwdriver much. The Vessel gets the most ratcheting action in my arsenal, and you’d think muscle memory would take over but it still doesn’t.😂 Being dyslexic is also why I love the FactCap Lefty/Righty…. 😂😂😂

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve used a ratcheting screwdriver to put in long screws manually, only to think… I could have used the ratcheting feature at the end. I do use wera bit holder's often ones on my dewalt 8v gyro screwdriver now. The impactor with the ring magnet is decent for deck screws though a little pricey for most. The real advantage to the wera bit holder is it locks onto most any c6, us 9mm, Japanese 13mm ect... One of the few non Japanese bit holders that will let you use 13mm anvils easily. The only thing wera bit holder dosent do well is double sided Japanese 13mm bits and it's quite bulky. In the end I'll probably end up giving this wera bit screwdriver a shot maybe once it hits my local platt electric. The free spinning nature looks convenient though I do worry it's a feature my vessel electric screwdriver dosent already provide an answer too already.

@Maldias
@Maldias 2 месяца назад
Most of the ratcheting screwdrivers I have owned have been Klein, which I have absolutely been annoyed over their backwards switching. I was most recently required to buy their Impact Rated Ratcheting 11 in 1 ( 32500HDRT) to benifit from the KNect system. That is because the spline in the handle of the non-ratching version does not accept the sockets of the 1/4" pass through socket wrench set (65300) which (as you know) allows the screwdriver to be used as a nutdriver.. Klein has absolutely failed on that screwdriver. By positioning the switch nearly mid handle, those with larger hands constantly activate the ratchet feature from the locked shaft position, or reversing it, since it is (as with all klein ratcheting screwdrivers) righty loosey lefty tighty?! Had they non-ratcheting version had the KNect cross compatibility I would have preferred that version. To get to the point... Wera has thought out how tools are actually used. The righty tighty lefty loosey makes complete since and is intuitive. I would like to buy this Wera product, but their smaller handles are actually quite uncomfortable. If they make this with a beefier handle the size of the Turbo, I'll buy it.
@MORGANSMaintenance
@MORGANSMaintenance 2 месяца назад
I use my Kleins in the Fixed position 99.9% of the time. Like you, I would use my regular version over the ratcheting if it worked with the KNect. Maybe they will come out with a bigger version 👍👍

Dang they fixed everything wrong with the others and how many times have we been in a situation where it’s to tight to turn your hand I just wonder depending on how tight the screw is if using the fast part will cam out or anything or just stop
@MORGANSMaintenance
@MORGANSMaintenance 2 месяца назад
It’s a little hard to turn it once the screw needs torque. I don’t think you would be able to fully torque something down with just your thumb or finger. So it stops spinning when it gets tight.
@skyanakinwalker
@skyanakinwalker 2 месяца назад
Yes, the ratcheting switch is backwards on everything else so frequently I find if it’s using the other kind I go to try and tighten something down and get a better grip on it and then and then suddenly it changed the direction. I gotta stop what I’m doing go back and readjust it again backwards so that I can screw forward again, just annoying. So yeah going forward. I will only be getting ratcheting screwdrivers that have this correct direction like Wera
@MORGANSMaintenance
@MORGANSMaintenance 2 месяца назад
I agree, all the others seem wrong to me. They say it is so when you bring your second hand up to change the switch.. if you grab the switch and turn the screwdriver the way you want to go, the switch will turn the opposite direction… I personally don’t like using two hands, so that’s another reason I like this WERA.

I got the smaller wera 838 RA S ratchet. I don’t use ratchet screwdrivers normally. But the bit recess on the 838 RA S magnetic version is perfict for Milwaukee 1 inch bits, but not so good with longer bits. It allows the full 1” bit shank to be utilized in recessed holes. Basically double the reach of what you get when using Milwaukee 1” bits in the rapid adapter. I do swear by the rapid adapter when using 2” or longer bits in hand drivers otherwise.

One big question is how is the back drag on these vs other available ratcheting screwdrivers? Do you have enough variety at this point to compare a handful of them directly with a simple 'pull a on a scale with a string wrapped around a bit' type test? Only serviceable ratcheting screwdriver I've got is Milwaukee's newer stubby 8-in-1 (48-22-2913) with a Klein flip-socket set - back drag on that stubby is pretty heavy & undesirable.. Judging by my other Wera products, I'd probably prefer this.
@MORGANSMaintenance
@MORGANSMaintenance 2 месяца назад
I can’t ever tell a huge difference between any of them. Most all of mine don’t engage in the same situations (like the screw in my metal box) and do in places where any other one will. BZUEG does put it against others in his video by attaching some together ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-M4mpXqZcACw.htmlsi=d-_MKV0wUy2YD_1K He seemed to think it was pretty good and uses a lot of ratcheting screwdrivers. Like I said, I’m not a ratcheting screwdriver expert by any means, I don’t even use the function glad the time on the ones I own. I do feel like I am more likely to use this one because of the location and functionality of the switch.
