New widow with teenage son gets a tender surprise from a Secret Santa

The EastIdahoNews.com team is busy helping a local Secret Santa give $1 million to deserving people in eastern Idaho this holiday season.
Elsie married Ken in 2008 and they built a life together in Aberdeen working hard, serving and giving to others, living a content humble lifestyle, and showing love and kindness to anyone they met. They were blessed with a son who is now 13 and Elsie began helping elderly people in their homes.
In May, Ken went in for surgery when unexpected complications followed requiring him to be hospitalized in ICU or a skilled care facility in Utah. Ken faced dialysis and a feeding tube. Elsie remained hopeful and dedicated to Ken along with caring for their son while also continuing to care for others and provide an income for their family.
On Nov. 1, Elsie received a phone call that Ken had developed sepsis. He passed away later that day. Elsie has faced all her challenges with an unusual degree of grace, strength, and faith.
Secret Santa asked if the East Idaho News elves could visit Elsie with an early Christmas gift. Watch the video above to see the surprise!

Blessings and love to Elsie and Matthew. Losing someone is tough at any time but especially near the holidays. I know. I lost my son, my only child, several years ago in December just before Christmas. Thank you for your kindness and generosity, Secret Santa. Elsie's financial burden has been lessened thanks to you. Thank you. Yes, time does ease the initial pain but it never goes away. I try to live life for him as I know he would never want me dwell in sadness. He always lived each moment to the fullest so that's what I do now. Again, thank you. Merry Christmas.

I am very sorry you lost your world when your son passed. I lost my oldest November 2012, I am still devastated. His birthday is 12/21. I can't bring myself to do things I ised to. God Bless you, I pray you make it to January without to many tears.

The pain in Elsie’s eyes and in her voice is so evident. Nate and his crew are so gentle and caring. They handle these tender moments with such grace. It hasn't even been a month. She's hurting. I remember what it feels like because my mom passed away 2 weeks before Christmas, so it didn't seem like Christmas that year. Do something small and peaceful. I love pretty lights. Since mom passed away I usually have simple decorations for Christmas, a few lights and soft music. God bless you.
