No matter how many times I see it done, I still marvel at someone entering Level 6 with no sword, no magical shield, no blue ring, armed only with only bombs, arrows and about six heart containers, successfully obtaining the wand. Impressive run.

My comment on "(35:09) The Legend of Zelda swordless speedrun [PB]" was something about how his first run was 40 seconds faster and he will soon take the record. And here we are less than a week later and the record has been captured. Lack is truly a LEGEND of Zelda.

Not that I would come anywhere close to this crazy time but I’m going to try this, I can do it with the sword in a couple of hours, I always get everything blue ring/red ring/ master key all the extras. Can usually finish in a few hours. Makes his speed running look so amazing that he can pull this off in a half hour time frame

I started routing for some time and just thought of searching it up and here I am seeing this run 4 years ago. I'm still routing and will hopefully beat it (after many deaths)

I'm intrigued by the exploits you were using in Gannon's room. At first I was confused by you stopping as soon as you got in the room. But you can't easily beat the game without a sword I gather. But what was in the statue?

Congrats!!! Great done! And it's actually room for some small improvements. The best example is the last enemy before Ganon's room. You lost around 3-4 seconds versus a perfect battle against that enemy. And some parts of seconds here and there when added together it's maybe a 1-2 seconds or so. Another way to probably win time: maybe skip that red portion - you don't need it :) And maybe - maybe - skip to pick up some of the heart containers from bosses in the dungeons... 31:59 or a few seconds faster is probably very difficult but fingers crossed that the first guy to do it is LackAttack24 👍🏻

Decent effort for what it’s worth. But as a longtime Zelda player, the glitches cause me to wince. To see how fast you can get there without a sword is cool, however, I love the complete gameplay. 😎👍🏻☮️💟

I would have been much more impressed if he wasn’t playing an ‘emulator I have the original on my NES and that screen scroll crap doesn’t work so??? ???? I did enjoy the play through but if u can’t do it on the original (famicom/nes) then is it really legitimate? NO! Play it on the original console and then it’s a real speed run not that emulation bullshit! It just feels like cheating. I could probably speed run 1 million games if I was cheating with emulators, but he is very good at the game. So congrats play the game on NES.

I admire the dedication but is it worth it? Have you gone outside and ride a sportbike? Explored the world? Climb a mountain with a nice fun girl? I mean on your death bed, will you look back at your 32min record and not hate you for having wasted your younger years doing it? Anyway... Keep up the good work !

How is this impressive?? Why not play with a game genie and just cheat through the whole game?? Your basically doing it anyway

I play this game every 5 years or so. I first got it and played it in 1989. I will never play like this, I refuse, because gameplay like this isn't the point. As the old saying goes, the proof is in the pudding, and you can see this by looking at this player's (the guy in the video) eyes... They're soulless, like the very life has been sucked out of them after countless hours and hours and hours literally glued to a screen just to do this "speedrun" using glitches. You can tell there is no true joy here. What's really a shame is that people will find videos like this and attempt to emulate them, especially "younger" people who want to play this original masterpiece and find videos like this just to complete the game as fast as possible. This isn't what Zelda's about, at all. I wish all video "playthroughs" and ESPECIALLY "speedruns" of truly classic games would be wiped off, because for most younger players they can EASILY ruin the true experience, and that TRUE EXPERIENCE is what made so many of these games the CLASSlCS they still are to this day ...
