I built an ultimate XRT and a Snap on Xmaxx a month or so ago, I used the red aluminum parts for snap on Xmaxx, and the blue aluminum parts for my blue XRT....I even have a blue heat sink for the XRT and its Traxxas, my local hobby shop had all the aluminum parts in stock a month or so ago.....I don't believe these parts were made specific for the ultimates.....I can say this it's definitely cheaper to purchase the XRT or Xmaxx ultimate from Traxxas I have much more than $500 into each of mine....
@@brentnevius2849Only thing I’ve broke is the back bumper. It was $1499 and to me worth every penny but actually it only cost me 670 because of gifts I got from Christmas and a bonus at work 😅
Merry Christmas to you and yours Earl!!! 😁 🎄 The new Xmaxx ultimate seems like a good value to me and the XRT is beautiful, I told guy that I feel like they could have done more with the Xmaxx like having the new battery trays, the roof skid and the new style body attachment to give it a refresh, after so many years it's nice they did an ultimate version but it really could have used a refresh on certain parts. Great video brother 💯 🤜 🤛
I'm not sure if I'd trust Traxxas' aluminum parts since I can't even trust their steel ones! To me, this "Ultimate" is a hard pass. But anyway, Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones, Earl!
Picked up an XRT ultimate in February, after 7-8 runs, I immediately saw the need for the M2C hinge pin kit and drive cups. The outer hinges on the hubs started bending and wobbling the plastic arms out. And the driveshafts started eating into the cups. I'm not seeing an issue with the inner arms, but the outer hinges absolutely need the hinge pin kit. Otherwise this thing is a beast and a blast to drive
I would rather build vs buying it that's half the fun with these thing's my xrt is pretty upgraded now and I rather have it because I built it for myself , not putting down the ultimate I'm sure it's a great truck or truggy but I'd love to get in there and dms thanks .
I got my new X MaxUltima December 27, 2023 and I absolutely love it to me it handles totally different from the regular X Max definitely worth the money to me
I had the xmaxx 5 times and each time I sold it again, last time I had it completely built with 1100kv with max 5, gpm gears everywhere, wfo gears, savox servo 2290, wide kit, etc, and yet I have sold it🙈😁.I don't know why I always sell it, but the ultimate is expensive, I will never pay for it, I prefer the upgrades myself.Merry Christmas Earl
I made the mistake of over building my XRT and sold it as well basically sold the electronics and gave it away for $500.00 I won’t make that mistake again to much power you can’t make it live long term 👍
My take on our Xmaxxs.......rpm big bearing hub carriers, traxxas hd steering arms, metal gear servo kit, max6 esc, center drive shaft 3d printed block support, 13 mm wide hex extensions for arrma tires, RC monster nut adapters, tbone racing front bumpers, glow plug washer between cush gear rear bearing and shaft....takes up the forwrd and bkwrd slack, hotracing hardened stock size gears, hotracing motor mount, hotracing servo arm, cen hinge pins, Lucas red tacky grease in all diff cases........no issues with our setup....we dont bash tho, just park or yard drivin
Glad you ordered one as well as building one to match. That’s going to be some awesome content Earl… I’ve been seeing one of the aluminum upgrade on the X-Maxx Ultimate that has been failing pretty easy… I’m not going to say what. I’m going to see if it gives you trouble…
@@earlmoorhead5555 you nailed it!! I was thinking that if those steering links give you a problem then they are weak and should be dealt with, either by Traxxas or the owner if they plan to bash it harder than “normal”…. So far it appears that if you change the steering links to stock or even an upgraded composite that that Ultimate should be tough and capable… but we’ll see when you get to driving yours if there are any Gremlins hiding…
I got the xrt ultimate couple days ago and the only thng i dislike is how loose the hub berings are. I have never seen anything this in any rc. You can literally see the bearings moving in and out. It took 0.80mm shims on each side to correct it. Other than that everything else look to be good.
Very tempting but a little out of my price range and after a year of running I still have not broken my Xmaxx yet lol. Love the look of the colored aluminum though. Suppose i could Craigs List upgrade mine if i find the right color spray paint. Lol
I think the ultimate x maxx looks cool. It would be nice if they did this in a roller like arrma did. Thats just my opinion. I bought my x maxx as a roller band new in the box of ebay and did all the vitavon m2c rpm and hotracing stuff i want with the hobbywing electronics. I figured all in im about 1400 into a full build.
Just electronic for it is minimum $600.00 then good tires are $100.00 on the low end plus gears and any upgrades 😜so it have to be a $500.00 roller new 🤔
Most of what you get in the ultimate package is bling . looks cool yes but performance enhancement ? no. treal and hot racing make a majority of the parts that come in the ultimate package so most of this can be done to a standard xrt / x maxx ... you can go as far as 2900 for a complete vitavon kit but again is aluminum bling worth an extra 3k on a 1k rc truck? in my opinion no but others may disagree . great video love the x maxx resently purchased the xrt special black addition and i have to say i am in love with traxxas ....
Hot racing parts at not very good I’ve showed some of there parts failing on my dbxl-e 2.0 and then find that they discontinued the replacement pieces I had to buy all new bearings carrier for it 👎 factory parts won’t get discontinued as quickly 😮
I think some of those upgrades are very good but some might be unnecessary also. I’d rather buy the standard xmaxx and build it to my liking even if I had to go to vitavon to do it. But if I was Moorhead rich I’d probably buy one just to test it out and get the cool upgrades. I bought the slash ultimate and enjoyed the heck out of it. It costs a crap load more to upgrade a non ultimate car to those parts so it’s a good deal no matter what people think. Just upgrading the servo and chassis on my vxl slash was a ton of money. The ultimate was way more economical. 🤷♂️
Well that's because they overpriced everything so you have to spend more to get spare parts. I for example would like a company to sell the parts for the price it costs them to put in a kit so I could build my own kit even if they don't sell it as a kit because I enjoy the building aspect of the hobby
It would be nice I agree @cazadon. But at least Traxxas parts are much cheaper than other companies like arrma. They charge almost double for their parts compared to Traxxas. It would be great to get em cheaper but we gotta take what we can get I guess idk.
Subbed and liked!!! I was debating between the xrt and xrt ultimate but I couldn’t decide! Your video made me go with the ultimate xrt! Thank you!! So in your opinion, it is a good deal! The $500 is worth it right? This is my first RC ever. I don’t know how to work on RCs and I am the type that just likes things done from the start. It comes with belted tires. Is that something I’m going to have to upgrade anyways? I’m looking to do do light jumps and just go fast Offroad. I’m not going to send it 50 feet in the air. Please help! What batteries and charger do you recommend? I don’t know if the 6700 from Traxxas are the best. What batteries are safe to use with an xrt? And what connects to the factory xrt connector? I don’t know how to solder.
I use lectron pro series batteries soft packs but gen ace basher packs worked good but I had cells fail right away and dual balance charger works great now a days 👍
@@earlmoorhead5555 help me please when you get a chance. I crashed my xrt utlimate into a curb at full speed. I’m going to drop it off at the hobby shop for repair since I don’t have any tools and can’t find any videos on how to fix this type of damage. Ball park, what is a fair price for the shop to charge me? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-PMWUuS1mqU0.htmlsi=AvpOjHeuZLOghsgn
After watching all your content Earl and some more other vids related to the ultimate xmaxx, gotta be honest, I want one 😂 I think it’s a great deal pricewise. Merry Christmas Earl
The Xmaxx does have all the aluminum parts available on the site and they were released shortly before the ultimate came out. Go under the parts finder tab and look through all of that stuff and youll find all the aluminum parts.
I've looked in the past while looking for replacement parts for the part numbers and before I never saw them on their site but like for the 2s 3s and 4s line I'm not entirely sure for the 6s line though they've had those out for years. I just upgraded my all my hubs to aluminum. That's all I've done to mine. I want to put a max 6 in mine too.
Do you think you will ever do any team corally (KAGAMA)preferred.or the new Kraton I have been waiting to hear your review on one of those. We know pretty much what the Kraton rates but I wand to hear what you say about the team corally.
Earl you said you take your batteries and wrap them in microfiber- what does that mean ? Where do you get the micro fiber from ? How do you do it ? Can you provide link as to where to purchase from?
I run the Max 5 and 1100kv 5687 motor with 34/50 gearing and all I upgraded was the better servo from Traxxas, aluminum diff cases from the center diff on both front and rear diffs (I also added some shims in front of the output drives), and aluminum diff cases so that the gears can take the extra power. I also added a split center driveshaft, I use straps for the batteries, and a roll cage to protect the body from crashes and so that it doesn't fly away either. I use spectrum radio and transmitter. Everything else is stock. The plastic parts work great. I also use duratrax tires and HR hub nuts. I've had my X-Maxx for about 4 years. I love it. The rest of the aluminum stuff in the ultimate is not necessary IMHO.
And you’ve never broken a c-hub in the front with the weight of those electronics? Max5 takes a special hight mount to set that up and the big can motor same basic set up I did in the XRT had way to much power I couldn’t keep good tires on it and duratrax I always cracked wheels 🤔no issue ? In 4 years ? Just wondering as I had issues and won’t run a 1/5th set up in them anymore 🤷🏻♂️
@@earlmoorhead5555 I've broken them during some high jumps, and landing wrong, but not after every bad landing. I've broken those more by hitting rocks and not jumping. It's funny because I added aluminum hubs and C hubs, and I would break something immediately. Even smaller jumps. I took them off and went back to stock plastic parts. I did crack the rims on the Duratrax but not with the Xmaxx. It was with the much heavier K8S. And the Duratrax due become unglued once in awhile.
Merry Christmas. All the upgrade parts are there and have been there. You have to look on the webpage, not on a mobile browser under accessories. They are all there, the only exception may be the body as showing not in stock.
@@earlmoorhead5555 I have been running the bell crank on mine for a few weeks. I have the motor mount and the gear cover all in green on mine. MSM did a video on all these parts some time back.
@chrisrichardson8731 bell crank is available it’s been available for awhile the bearings carrier and c-hubs have not been and the Cush drive cover also not available previously
@chrisrichardson8731 front differential covers just starting hitting eBay sellers site 2 hours ago after the parts list came out but won’t be available till after January 2 for delivery seems some parts will start going out next week but they haven’t been available before 💯
Ali express for all the aluminum parts. They are all made there anyway. You can get almost everything at a deep discount. ..Built an ultimate sledge that's heavier duty then traxxas would even put out and for short money too.
I was wrong. Both are an absolute good deal! Although some of the upgrades may be unnecessary, the value is there. A $500 increase for the amount of upgrades makes it a steal in actuality. I let my dislike for Traxxas cloud my judgement.
People so silly, everyone knows a truck at this weight n power is not as durable as a xmaxx with just rpm n steel gear upgrade,no car is,not the point, you can have fun with this truck and it's super nice, bash a different one,and the 6s is better than the 8
I know i'm a little late but i'm thinking about making my X-Maxx similar to an Ultimate X-Maxx or going with an all new ultimate truck someday but i worry they won't be available by the time i have the money to buy one. I don't know if the Ultimate will be just a limited run and that's it or if they'll come out with them as a permanent model.
Wayyy cheaper to upgrade when you break stuff... otherwise you are wrenching and not driving... Mind you, I havent driven my "Kyosho Optima Mid" that I bought when it was a brand new model back in the 80's in middle school before I discovered girls... Was a late bloomer.
Does it have upgrades? Yes. Is it worth to get the ultimate vs the normal one? No. Simply because you dont want that Traxxas stuf because you can get the brands like Gpm for less. So getting a stock car and upgrade it yourself is cheaper.
Traxxas has had every part you mentioned on there website for months no idea why you keep saying they don’t sell all the parts on the ultimate they do lol
What needs to happen is everyone needs to stop buying these RCs until these absolutely stupid ridiculous prices come down! $1500 for a plastic truck with a couple metal parts in it. Let me remind everyone the Xmaxx was $699 when the 8s version came out. Fast forward a couple years and the same truck is over a 1000 dollars, what a joke.
Yes but rent in California was $1600.00 at that time and now is over 3k inflation terrible🤷🏻♂️📉I agree $1500.00 for an old platform like the xmaxx is crazy 😝 but if there was a more durable rc then the ppl would push that rc over an xmaxx 💯
Sorry not gonna watch the video no offense but I can tell everyone build it yourself. Traxxas just threw their overstock of aluminum into the Xmaxx and XRT and tried calling it the ultimate
The bearing carriers and c-hubs were never sold before this release? Also the Cush drive cover is a new part from traxxas? I know ppl have been saying this that why I did the correction video showing this is not true as on 12/24/2023 is when the traxxas parts hit eBay and 12/23/2023 is when traxxas listed the part numbers for sale 🤔
Waste of money just like the other xmaxx. Best to purchase a slider and build it from the ground up. Besides the stock electrics are absolute garbage. IMO traxxas is only doing this because Arrma puts way more effort into revising their models and listening to basher feedback. Cant beat the EXB models.. tons tougher/reliable than any traxxas.
For my XRT I already got the differential covers. The cush drive gear cover the front bearing carriers so parts are available. My shop can get them.@earlmoorhead5555
@martinbullla7654 what’s the part numbers as nothing was listed for a part until yesterday? I’d like to research them and check dates as if I’ve made an error it would need to be corrected but talking to traxxas on a recorded line I feel my facts are correct? Thanks
99% of the aluminum Stuff is the stuff you want to be plastic. The steel gears through Traxxas are also pathetic and weak. Your better to buy a stock one and by aftermarket gears the better a arms and tires and then drive it. Your just adding a bunch of weight to parts that at nice and pliable and almost never break.. diff covers aluminum? Why the hell would you want that. No one ever has broke That. It’s a money grab as they can make a batch of those aluminum parts for almost nothing. And your paying 500+ for this dumb new model
