I love your professional level as you play the keyboard spontaneously, I always wanted to learn to play the piano to be able to quickly create melodies like that but I'm old now and I also have to take into account the time available and my brain which has always had a lack of ram..
My only real complaint thus far is the Poly Aftertouch is only available on the 88 key, the one for piano players. (and the price). Like what? The synth guys are more likely to utilize that feature than the players who want the weighted piano keys. Other than that, fantastic synth. Oh yeah, and great demo BTW! haha
And when ASM has it in their affordable 49-key Hydrasynth. I don’t even like playing synth sounds on 88 weighted keys. The only non-piano type sounds I might do on an 88 would be strings. Everything else feels weird/wrong to my ear-hand connection.
yep. this ones got me stuck in purgatory trying to decide whether it replaces upstairs with a M6 or downstairs with M8x. M8x being more available at backline might push me over to that column... but I really love my CP88. My MODX7 has served me well enough but it's gotta go in favor of the AN-X and UI on the M series.
Well played! It is obvious that the Montage now has an improved qualitity of synth sounds due to the AN-X Synth. That was in fact a reason I always used the Montage live togehter with a real analog synth. Generally the Roland sound is what i prefer, but the ability of Yamaha Motif/ Montage of stacking sounds and mixing them well with other synths and the real FM Synth of the Montage are the main reasons I will prefer the Montage also in the future as the working horse.
Simply because for 88 action they already have the technology available and ready, and that system is not compatible with fsx action 😉 btw with poly aftertouch the M6 and M7 surely should be more expensive than now (and they already are really expensive..) and for this type of synth I don’t really need poly AT.. I think can be more useful with sound design synth (like Quantum and Iridium) Montage is a great all in one synth and it’s great also without poly AT
@@DKS-SYNTH-LAB Thanks to your videos I recently sold my OG montage to get the new one, some other channel’s don’t do justice but your videos convinced me to upgrade to the new model. 🔥🙌🙏
Did they upgrade the sequencer? Which sequencer do you find easier to use This or fantom. Which board do you like better? Anyone else want to chime in…
Took the opportunity last week and bought new white Montage 6 for a no brainer price. I know it is ´´old´´ but it still sounds great. I´ll wait until Yamaha comes up again with white M6.
I have a white montage 8, and it was hard to find, but a really great instrument. Also using a motif XF 61. Serious music power using these two keyboards.
@@michaelsuarez5201 Yeah...i would also go with the 8 but i don´t have enough space. Tried with Fantom 8 but ended exchanging for Fantom 6 . It is just too massive for me.
I have the Montage 6 White, identical sounds, identical engines, they only added a second display with a "pseudo-analog engine" which are actually extra samples.
I have the original montage since 2017, basically they sound the same (for the existing samples and sounds) but the new M is more faster than previous one, you have more user memory, more sounds and AN-X, and no.. they are not only samples ;) I think many people can live with the first model without any upgrade to the M model, but if you want a more faster, powerful and surely updated in the future synth... the new M is the way to choose :)
The primary reason I figure, is that these are the sounds that people who buy these boards want. Whether gigging, in the studio, etc. Most people who want sounds outside of these sound sets usually go VST/software plugins and sample libraries.
All of the modern synths today are just repackaged sounds of legacy synths. I still own all my legacy sound modules such as the Yamaha MOTIF Rack-ES, Roland Fantom-XR, Roland Integra-7 essentially modern XV5080, E-MU Proteus 2000, E-MU MO Phatt. I also still own a MOTIF ES6 keyboard but it's in the closet that's now retired now that the MOTIF Rack-ES took over it. I also have the Korg Triton and Triton Extreme software. That's virtually every sound the 90s and 00s era. No need for me to buy any new hardware if it's the same damn sounds. I just both soft synths and my legacy Rompler synth collection.
Not so big difference, a little bit of clarity in the sounds and in general little bit more headroom 🙂 Old Montage is (already) an amazing synth with great D/A board
@DKS-SYNTH-LAB Thanks. I will try to test it at a local dealer. I sold my old Montage 7 in June. I am used to play live with VSTs. When the VST version of MontageM will be ready I will probably buy it
@@jno8039 I mean that if VST will be ok, I will buy the MontageM workstation because I love to have on stage a VST. I would leave the hardware MontageM at home. For me it's important to get the plugin. No plugin? I will wait until it comes out. Q2 2024 is what Yamaha is reporting today
I liked very few presets on my 2 most recent synth purchases. So just go on making new ones that are to my taste. How good are those Montage CS-80 sounds, that's my question?
I really had high hopes for the new Montage (and I still do), but my biggest problem with this board is that in every single demo I've heard until now it just sounds very digital and sterile (sorry). At this moment I actually think that the synth section in the Nord Stage 4 (even if it is not nearly as deep as the one in the Montage) sound much more organic, warm and analoge-like than the Montage. Of course I could change my mind if I try the Montage out in real life, but at the current moment I'm absolutely not convinced to trade my Nord Stage for a Montage,
I got the NS4 just recently and I'm asking myself if I really need the Montage M. The acoustic and electric pianos are just as good, organs are way better, strings and brass sounds are close, so what?
poly aftertouch is a great feature, but I can assure you that you will not use them so much.. I also have an Iridium KB with poly aftertouch and probably that feature is used for 2% of the time when I play it... so for me is not so relevant. BTW I prefer to have great sounds, faster UI and more memory for sounds ;)
different instruments with different keybed action (semi weighted synth action vs waterfall action). Surely if you need a stage piano with a dedicated tonewheel section YC is better. If you need an all rounder instrument, Montage M is way superior.
@@DKS-SYNTH-LAB thank you for replying.. i like the feel of yc61 i tried it one time, but the montage m6 looks interesting, and looks like it has all the sounds of yc61, isn't it? Or is it different character? Planning to buy soon but i haven't decide which one..
Ciao! Grazie
"Each Part with Keyboard Control set to off receives the data of only the corresponding channel for the Part" questa è la parte del manuale inerente ai canali midi.
Yes, i've loaded my backup from previous gen montage, and I've all my sounds, setlist exactly like the other synth. New Montage M already has inside all the factory sounds of Montage and can import everything from previous gen.
I said the same in another post and as usual all the lovies get their knickers in a twist for someone disagreeing with their opinion. Tough, i dont think its worth £3500 either and im a yamaha fan with lots of their gear still in my studio.
It’s hilarious people making these arbitrary and unfounded statements about cost with nothing factual to back up their so called “opinion”. An opinion with no facts isn’t worth a damn thing and serves no purpose then to create unnecessary division. Especially when these people have yet to play it. Then I actually give factual information as to why it’s not a bad price. One of those facts is that the world is no longer in a 2015 economy. Most of these clowns are basing their “opinions” on what they paid for something almost 10 years ago. Then they bring out something somewhat contemporary as a comparison (which BTW is not very comparable in features or price) and say something like “it’s not worth twice what so and so cost”. But they seem to have a deficiency in math comprehension and do some crazy rounding of hundreds of dollars and think they made a point. I bring up the fact that a quality midi controller alone with a high end key bed (as far as the M8X) starts at a $1000 and can go as far as $2000 or more. Get no response to that one. Like a person wrote. These people can’t afford it and want to bring those that can down. The world is full of envy and society has condoned this very nasty emotional and spiritual shortcoming.
