+Siper2 just read that article and it doesn't say either way whether it's coming to America or not. And since the XSR700 has no plans to cross the pond I think it's safe to assume neither will this until Yamaha says one way or the other.

+Justin Ammerman Understandable, but the press of course always has early access to information and it seems to be a fairly sure thing. 100% positive? +Siper2 O.k. But the bike we all want is the XJR 1300 which is not here. If bringing a smaller version is some sort of litmus test for marketing(yes it is on the Yamaha-USA site now),...I say they are doing it bass ackwards. I am 6'3" with long legs and my knees almost bang the bars on a 900 sport standard. I just sold one of my nakeds(Bandit 1250s-2007) and every guy who came to look at it was 5'6", including the guy who bought it. Bring in the big bike and create the demand. I don't understand this. And it is not just Yamaha...it's many bike manufacturers. The coolest bikes stay out of the states. And yes I have a Harley but I lust over bikes like this in my collection.

+Mark Smith I think they're just doing what sells - it seems to me that a lot of folks are buying smaller bikes these days (not that 900cc is small). The liter bikes have dropped in sales, probably with the economic downturn and other factors I'm sure. I'd personally go for the XSR900 but I can understand your frustration!
