Ufff Kiya din thy yar pora tournament tv par dekha tha , most favorite inzamam bad form mei tha, best of three final mei Pakistan ny west indies ko beat Kiya tha, what a golden era of cricket from 1990 to 1999
Beautiful days when everything was more meaningful in life including the game of cricket as well. My parents were with me and we were a happy loving family who most of the time watch these games together now everything has changed nothing like that left now.😢
Same nostalgia here. Watching these exciting ODIs with family and friends in the 90s is among the best memories in my life. Sadly those days are over. I lost interest in the game many years ago as its quality has gone down so badly.
Great Competition between Bat and Ball. Those days are gone. Both Australian and Pakistani teams were stronger teams compared to their current teams. These highlights are a big relief to watch good quality cricket. Thanks for uploading
Same here, I was a deep sleep guy but miraculously wakeup in the middle of the night for all the matches, craze for cricket, 90s what an era! from Pakistan. Recently moved to Pakistan Punjab!
Played on Jan 1 Wednesday 1997 watched it live pak won the tri series defeating west indies in the finals pak won this tournament sixth attempt ijaz ahed saqlain wasim waqar moin Khan Mohammad wasim waqar moin Khan collective effort won six matches including finals list three against West Indies one against australia
Beyond talent, Shane Warne was an intelligent Bowler. Shane Warne noticed Amir Sohail's loss of concentration after his 50 & bowled straight ball. As usual, Inzamam wicket was Sharne Warne's special weapon. . Shane Warne also tried to take Ijaz Ahmed wicket by bowling full length balls and inviting him to hit . But, Ijaz took the risk & hit Shane Warne without fearing miscued edge. Golden era of Cricket . Rip SW
One of Pakistan's best openers in both tests and ODIs. Caused us no end of problems in 1992 when they toured England. His 200 on that tour was one of the best knocks I've seen.
Days when i watched all these matches half sleeping in chilling morning of December or January i think.. Never forget this beautiful uniform of Pakistan ❤❤
Thanks a lot 🙏 Arslan Majid for a brilliant upload. Looking for this for ages. This was really new year special for the year 1997 still remembers very vividly, those beautiful blue green Jerseys for pakistan with lush green grounds of Australia and the emergence of young players like M. Wasim, saqlian, shahid afridi, M. Zahid under the captaincy of wasim akram wining the cartlton United series 97 defeating the west indies 2-0 in the best of 3 finals and last but not the least my all time favourite commentators like bill Lowry and Tony greig. Can you please upload the remaining matches of this series. keep it up bro👍. Thank you 🙏 once again for cherishing those old memories.
Pakistan lifted the trophy...it was January 1997 and the month of Ramazan. And after 26 years...I am watching this match again..and its the holy month of Ramazan again.
Yes won on jan 20 1997 Monday watched it live then highlights afridi player of the finals Lara man of the series Anwar missed this series but ijaz what a player scored 397 runs Lara man of the seties
Pakistan played really well & became first Asian team to win triangular world series cup in Australia beating host Australia & mighty Westindies in the finals.
Dear as an Indian loved Pakistani team Anwar my favourite still 1996 world cup haunts he should have stayed for another five overs got out in wrong time 48 runs in 32 balls seven fours two sixes any way Pakistan or Australia winning 2023 world cup

player of the match should hav been sohail instead of warne.2 key wickets, good catch n stable calm innings.if he didnot took the catch another 15 - 20 runs for aus could hav been winning runs.
On Paper, It was better than Australia and Africa. Two World Class Spinners, Two of the finest pacers in Wasim n Waqar. Genuine swing bowler in Aquib Javed. Post 1996, 2 fantastic hard hitting All Rounders in Razzaq and Azhar Mehmood. And a solid batting lineup in Anwar, Sohail, Inzi, Ijaz, Salim Malik. Plus new comers like Afridi, Mohd Akram, Yousuf Yohana, Shahid Nazir, Ata Ur Rehman and 2 fine wicket keepers in Moin Khan and Latif. I dont which other team had their bases covered like Pak in 90s. Still they didnt achieve much apart from 1992 win. SAF overtook them in ODIs and Australia played the big games well
Amir Sohail had a fine match, important innings and 2 economical wickets. Saqlain and Afridi (from 1 off 11 to 34 off 25 LOL) had good matches too as did Ijaz, who mostly worked ball around but when he went for a hit really clubbed it: Im sure his 3 fours and even the shot where he holed out would be sixes on todays short boundaries
Those were the days.. when the game was sort of evenly balanced between ball and bat. Look at the size of those boundaries especially long on and long off they are visibly longer than today's boundaries which is one of the reasons that the games has inclined towards Batsmans' favour..
I remember Pakistan winning this tournament where they were lauded, praised and many said they were the best odi team in the world (at the Time South Africa did get the better of them). It was remarkable as Australia were very strong at home and seen as the best team in the world and we're fast becoming that legendary team of future years. While the West Indies had been knocked off their perch, they full decline wouldn't happen for a couple of years and they were still a force to be reckoned with. Its was very impressive. I actually think this was maybe even stronger than the 1999 world cup team. Why for the life of me have Pakistan since then been so abysmal in Australia? Granted, Aus did become stronger at home but still, they've had some shockingly appalling results against Aus, despite winning this tournament, the 1992 world cup and runners up in the 2022 T20 world cup. They're set to tour Aus in late 2023 and early 2024 after the 50 over world cup. I don't think they will win but hoping they can be competitive and win at least one test match and an couple of white ball games and not get whitewashed again. Something tells me not.

Australia won World 🌍 T20 🌎 in 2021 Shane Warne was still alive he saw everything the ICC events they won I want Australia not to win a Champions Trophy 🏆 T20 World Cup & 50 Over World Cup from now to would in the next 18 years !
Arslan Majid, what went wrong with Phil Simmons that he didn't play for WEST INDIES in wc 1996 & after wc 1999 & was Basit Ali, Asif Mujtaba & Zahid Fazal of Pakistan a wasted talent because he didn't play for pak team in wc 1996, please let me know.
Basit Ali was overlooked for 1996 WC Coz Mr Miandad wanted a farewell series.. Simmons was a casual cricketer, he didnt take his cricket seriously. He was a typical west Indian, swash buckling batter and a decent seam bowling option in 90s. Asif Mujtaba had limited ability and he wasnt a fluent batter. Mujatabas test record is pretty avg. Regarding Basit Ali, he was a fine player. Once Imran said he is more talented than Tendulkar. He was probably eaten up by politics
