Very emotional way to end this video.....two things that no longer exist, The Twin Towers and a flying Concorde, just tells you nothing in our world is forever, everything must come to an end. Only thing remains are memories, for which in this sense, JustPlanes is longing to keep alive....thank you very much for your work...
tanay.bro when i read your comment I was very emotional it's true nothing loves foreever lives foreever only memories 2001 remind the twin tower 9.11 that time I was 8 year old child my I remember my whole life this incident can't believe 16 year past now iam 24 year old young boy old days very good in my life Ian very miss my childhood time iknow that time is not came back again I hope it's possible but the truth is it's reality our life and also miss concored airlines thank you bro I preseat your comment Ian Indian my self tanay debnath but I like ameica and specially the flights.
I like how Avianca had a retro scheme back then. This wasn't their 2001 colours and the 757 was too young to actually have that livery, so they must have been one of the first airlines to do the whole retro thing.
depending on how old yo are though, you may or may not remember that American Airlines had some of their 737/57s painted (or lacktherof) in the Astrojet livery around 2000/2001. Give it a quick google search, it was a work of art.
Outstanding series of videos. I used to often go to JFK and LGA but 9/11 pretty much ended that. Gates which were open were closed...fences were put up where there were none...areas like the customs parking lot which were good for landings on runways 22L and 31R and for watching the huge cargo planes were now closely watched...and also for departures on 22R...the cargo parking lot which was perfect for landings and departures on 13L were now closed which was a shame because you could see the planes coming in all the way to Canarsie and the Concorde and a 747 were so incredibly beautiful on their final turn for runway lineup. But sadly the good times are no more.
iliveforharleys Same here in Cleveland. Those were the days!!! You could have a meal, max and relax and watch planes coming and going ALL DAY while enjoying your meal. heck, there were people who probably had a picnic while watching the "birds". Again, those were the days.... Then came 911. Overnight, everything changed.
This video is awesome. I was totally surprised to see the AirJamaica A300 (310?) in those beautiful colors! Alas, they aren't what they used to be; what a great reminder of those days.
GR8 VID!!! I esp enjoyed the classic footage like the Metrojet/US Airways 737-200, as well as the bouncing MD-11's. Just a lil side note from 1 aviation enthusiast to another...the MD-11's were notorious for hard, bouncing landings. (ref. fatal FedEx MD-11 crash @Tokyo's Narita Int.l. There was another MD-11 crash upon landing but I can't rem where, it was somewhere stateside though). Reason being b/c while the MD-11 was stretched approx. 20ft from the DC-10, they used the same tail which was undersized for the much longer MD-11. As a result their landing speeds needed to be 10-15mph faster than other aircraft. Many pilot's struggled w/this due to a lack of training as well as other factors.
Tanay.amazing memories I really miss Concord airlines I wish that days are back my childhood times very emotional nice memories vedeo and also miss continental airlines.
Yeah, just imagine nine years from now, when we will be seeing 787s and A350s in regular service, along with a boatload of 77Ws, some 748is, and classics dwindling in existence. The industry is just changing that quickly...
This is during the 90s...during a few years....Theses images capture just wonderful images..Goodness THANK YOU SO MUCH as they show the evolution so many airlines have been through
I went to the U.S. 4 the first time in about the February of 2001,New York. While there i had a helicopter ride over the Twin Towers, still got that pic. The shot of concorde climbing above the towers was a great catch 👍.
Old videos can be so much more interesting than the newer stuff. Gives everyone a blast into the past to see how things used to be. Also Concorde made it's last commercial flight for British Airways not in 2002 but the day after my 13th birthday on 24 October 2003! Also a few examples flew beyond that for a few months on a farewell tour and to fly to their respective resting places!
Crazy how many 60s generation (727, DC-9) planes were still in service. Perhaps even crazier is the fact an 80s generation plane (A320) is still competing a a heavily warmed-over 60s gen plane (737 MAX).
9:35. This footage here is not from 2001. The only time the Concorde flew in 2001 was after 9/11. It had been grounded since the AF crash in July, 2000.
Aer Lingus use to fly 747s in the 1970s to the early 1990s. I use to see them land/ takeoff in JFK when my Grandmother lived on Rockaway beach in Queens, NY.
