Best pizza in Manhattan that I've had was at a place called Keste. I haven't tried Rubirosa or Scarr's yet though.

I have lived all over the US and there is one type of pizza that you will find is almost always the local go to: pepperoni. NYC, ?Queens, Garfield, NJ, Johnstown, PA, or anywhere else I've been. Your Bon Appetite guide knows what's what.

I love the fact you came across the pond to try some pie but you were so close to the best, New Haven, CT! We have a treasure trove of award wining pizza and you wouldn’t have paid as much as you did. My vote is Pepe’s!!

Yes, Apples to Pears. Just order the Pepperoni from each place. Pepperoni is classic American pizza. It's everywhere you go in the US across all styles of pizza. Every pizza place has a pepperoni pizza. It makes apples to apples easy.

As a New Yorker, I think there's a difference between a margherita pizza and NY Style pizza....that's just me. Scarr's is pretty dope and easily one of my favorite slices. My favorite margherita pizza is easily Juliana's in Brooklyn.

Scarr's is solid. Not a vodka sauce guy, but that looked tasty. Lombardi's is a bit of a tourist trap, though that pie still looked good too.

well since you only stayed in manhatten its not really a fair comparison, need to go to brooklyn. Di Fara's, Lucali's, and probibly Best Pizza. but you also need to look into what they call the Grandma Pie also. but best pizza in NYC is in Brooklyn hands down.

Went to rubirosa when i went to NYC last year. Dont remember the toppings but it was banging, great stuff. Scarrs looked good here, but it also looked like the fairly cheap pizzas you can get all over NYC. Tasty, but crazy greasy.

I worked at several pizza parlors in my day, cannot stand Pizza hut unless I am about to be sick from hunger and I don't have to pay for it. Any place that makes their own dough and doesn't dehydrate it into a "puck" is at least worlds better than the hut. And two places made their own sauce as well, never got to learn the real ingredients list but every time I go home for Xmas, I gotta stop in and get a pie. Support your local pizzeria. If they are most than 5 years old, then you know they doing something right.

I want a slice of Scarr's. I could eat a whole thing probably, to my own detriment. Wouldn't bother with the others, but I don't like Margherita or Vodka, though the cheese-as-topping angle bothers me.

at the beginning they said the best pizzas in the world are found in NYC. As an Italian I have to strongly disagree: the best pizzas are found in Naples and that's it.

Well.. americans have a lot to learn from Italy. A real Pizza doesnt need a lot of cheese, but the cheese looked kinda strange. Those Pizzas looked pretty average to me compared to what you get in Europe and below average compared to Italy. edit: also those pizzas are expensive af

Channaholic Italians had a lot to learn from America when it came to making pizza considering they didn't have tomatoes. I think pizza shouldn't have a lot of cheese for pizza is about the bread and the tomato sauce everything else is a topping

Channaholic I have been to 7 European countries including Italy. And i have also been to new York many times and new York pizza is way better in quality of ingredients, flavor, and texture. I think you just want to believe European pizza is better but don't actually have a clue.

Wobulali But did you go to Napoli? Because having had pizza in Italy doesn't say much..What cities did you try pizza in? What type of pizza did you have? How many restaurants did you try it at? It's like me judging American style pizza (either NY or Chicago) when I have only been to say.. Alaska. All of Italy is not famous for it's pizza. It is regional cuisine. You don't get Neapolitan pizza all over Italy. Like Roman pizza al taglio is nothing like Neapolitan pizza. If you didn't eat it in Napoli you can't compare it to your New York style with any authority. I have lived in two European countries including Italy. I have eaten several styles of pizza in 5 different parts of Italy. I have also been to 11 other different countries in Europe. European pizza is waaaay better than American. I can't speak about Chicago style though as I have never tried it, but I lived right by NYC and had lots of pizza there. American pizza is just not real pizza. It doesn't have flavor and that's why you need to cover it in all that cheap "cheese" and overpowering meats.

I lived in New York for few years and most places make it like the last place. Crispy pepperoni and greasy is what I call a true New York style pizza. It's delicious but you shouldn't eat it much if you are over 30.

Sorry J, but there's plenty of bad pizza out there, you're just lucky to live in a place that offers loads of variety and it's harder to run into something that's really inedible. Also, those first two didn't look too great tbh.
