Wow. The time and effort it takes to make proper bagels is astonishing. I have great respect for these people who provide all of these wonderful options to the public. Cheers to you all.
Can't believe people are defending the Lox slicer wearing SEVERAL dangly bracelets that is obviously touching the food every time she handles it. I originally had a problem with the long sleeves touching the food, but hopefully they are putting on a clean coat every day (I somehow doubt it) The only accepted jewelry to wear by Servsafe is a plain band wedding ring, NOT TO MENTION the bacteria but the safety of getting caught and causing harm that way so she is in violation. Probably has gone nose blind to smelling like Salmon all day and doesn't notice her multiple bracelets are oily and smell like gravlox.
I don't guess that she is sanitizing her bracelet to the core every day and then the contamination goes its way. 🤢 Next time you are having a salmonella infection, you know where it comes from 😂
What - totally got nothing to do with the fact that it's going to be on yt for all the world to see? And conveniently being very generous with the fillings, too? I think you're being a bit naive, there! I think it's fair to assume this is a bit of a promotional video for them.
The bagels look soooo good … but as a medical lab technician I can't help but notice at 20:44 the shop attendant's wrist-full of well worn and much loved bracelets with dangly pendants making contact with the slab of smoked salmon each time she cuts some for the customers. Wearing gloves that aren't high enough on the arm(s) is merely defeating the purpose.
This was so much fun for me to watch, and I showed it to my partner when it came to the kettle…putting the malt in it and then dropping the bagels in…the entire process from putting the bagels in the kettle on to the end was what I did when I worked at a bagel bakery in college. That was a fun job with a fun group of people.
It’s like when I see nurses with long acrylic nails or even short nails with colored nail polish on them. In nursing school that is taught as a big NO NO right along with NO Dangly jewelry and hair off of shoulders and away from face. They teach the same even in basic food prep course. For some reason certain people get in a field and drop their taught standards.
The King Arthur Brand flours all have those names!! 😁 Sir Galahad, Sir Lancelot, King Arthur….but the Excalibur mixer!!! How awesome! I’ve not come across those before. Quite a pairing!
@@stephaniebragg3081 Yep don't know how I missed it but it also touched her sweaty chin and arms, why don't they have a table that they can transfer it from one Bowl to the other what good is a may I ask when you're sharing sweat and l I n t
Awww, yes "The Super Heebster". I've been lucky enough to eat at Russ & Daughters and am happy to see my favorite bagel sandwich from there representing. That green roe is a wasabi roe. I'm so homesick and hungry right now.
Maybe they taste good, maybe they don't. But as a native Montrealer, I have to say that a *real* bagel is hand-rolled, baked in a wood-fired oven and has no discernible top and bottom. If one side looks flatter, it's not the real deal.
I agree 1000%. Real, Authentic bagels are hand rolled. I grew up on Authentic bagels, lived right down the block from both a bagel and bialy bakery, ALL hand made & superb, the real way.
Omg. The bagels looked so amazing I swear I could smell them. And then the beautiful toppings. Such respect for the food and the craft. Hats off to you! (Do you deliver to WA state?)
Wow! Very interesting! I see you guys making a bagels. Behind the scenes. I like everything and garlic bagels. I like cream cheese chives and lox, too. That’s my favorite! Hope I will see you guys soon. You can take me a nice tour opportunity. I can watch you guys how to make a bagels 🥯
@@arberx not a fan of cooks that leave their rings on as they smoosh their way through ground meat, making meatloaf, or handling soft bread dough. Bacteria soup. 🤮
Shhhhhh I am not gonna tell anyone about the worker who is touching and hugging the dough like her dog at 4:34, they are allowed to wear baseball caps in any way they like instead of plastic head cover, worker at fish place is wearing heavy jewelry while cutting the fish at 19:35 and again at 26:09 while buttering the bagel. Who is a food inspector in NYC? Stevie! I am also not gonna tell anyone that these are “the best bagels in NYC”. 🥴
Every time I see someone carry dough or toss Pizza dough & catch it with their forearm, I think about how much skin cells, oil, sweat & hair we eat. Also, lint from clothes. 😩
Same here. I actually wanted to cry because I was like now I’ll never go there. Like, who does that? I’m a home cook. I cover my hair with a scarf and my nails are short and clean. I wear zero jewelry when cooking and I wash my hands frequently.
Oh my God looks so good. I saw this place on Louis C.K.'s show and fell in love with it. I can't wait to go back home to New York and visit. I totally want a salmon on everything with a smear, tomato, onion caper and bracelet sweat with bacteria, just like good New York Hot Dog water
Katz deli is down the block..and up the block is Yonak Shimmel knishes... 3 historic landmarks all on the same side of Houston street.. within three or four blocks
@@johnk3071 My friends would have to drag me away! “But we’re supposed to be on 2 tours and to see 3 museums today! Nah, I’m right where I want to be. Pick me on your way to dinner.” 🤣🤣
How can you put the dough on your uniform or on you arms... there is a lot of hair on our body etc... Recently i ve seen a chinese factory.. sweet factory... was veryy clean... how do they do it..
I'm reading some of the comments and I'm thinking to myself, it is obvious how many people do not or have never worked in the food service industry. Arm Chair Quarterbacks! YES I DO, I have been a CEC for 32 years and am Currently the Exec Chef at a Dinner Theater in California. Carrying the dough PRIOR TO BEING COOKED IS FINE!! The ONLY thing i saw wrong was the jewelry. Either remove it or cover it up with the glove.
Hair nets seem to be absent and bare arms against dough is not really up to code. Yes the bagels are good, but hygiene is everything with food handling.
Don't mistake me it is good... But correct me of i am wrong... They are wearing short gloves and lifting the dough with holding or huging if i am not mistaken there is someone lifting it up like that and he has hairy hand what will happen if it stick in the dough isn't hazardous for food businesses like this if incase it makes it way to the costumer...
Oh boy - I’ve wanted to try their food for years! I want to taste everything! 🤣. Now I just need to find 10 friends willing to split an order from Goldbelly. 😍. I have never heard of steaming the bagels on planks - so interesting.
I saw many Korean videos for preparing food. Americans have a lot to learn from them about hygiene. Also the woman carrying the dough against her dress so close to the hair, the unclean floor and the pieces of wood were they bake. Sure it goes through heat and i bet is delicious, but they definitely must work on hygiene.
Yup. I noticed the same woman then preparing sandwiches. What's the point of wearing gloves if jewellery is allowed to cross contaminate? If someone ends up with issues after eating that, you now know why.
Never understood the reason for the bagel? English muffin or nice sourdough? Also why the hole in the middle? So annoying when trying to out fillings on.
