This week we see New York City from our own boat! After a stay at Liberty Landing in New Jersey, we make our way up the Hudson River, ending at the beginning of the Erie Canal where we will spend the next part of our Great Loop.
Remember, our videos are about a month behind real time. This one happened in June 2023.

I'm so glad y'all had such an amazing time in New York City and up the Hudson River!! I worked up there for a good portion of 1999 through 2014 while I was tugboating. Unfortunately, it was all work and no play, so I was never able to go into the city for sightseeing and shows. I did make countless trips up the Hudson River, sometimes as far as Troy, where I could see the first set of Locks in your video. Lots of memories. I can't wait to see your next videos!! 😀😀😀😀✝️✝️✝️✝️🙏🙏🙏🙏

Glad you had a wonderful time in NYC. Having lived and worked there for part of my life, I still recall with pleasure the energy and hustle and bustle of the city. My wife and I did the Erie Canal (the whole length) and the Hudson River in the opposite direction and loved every minute. The Erie Canal was so peaceful and the canalside towns were sometimes a bit worn but always welcoming. And very inexpensive -- often free docks. It sounds like you stayed at some great places along the Hudson, but sad you missed Kingston -- a truly charming town -- and Troy, a funky, appealing little city. I do recall that by the time we finished the Erie Canal we had our fill of locks. Great video, very much enjoyed hearing about the trip.

Did you use a dingy to get ashore? if so, where did you "safely" tie up?
@onFIREfamily
@onFIREfamily Год назад
We did not dinghy in NYC. We used the trains and subway to get around. We’ve heard of a place you can dinghy to (or pay moorage for your big boat) but it was reported to be expensive. Croton on Hudson was the economical way for us to see the city for sure.
