@burteriksson Only 4 NHL arenas use recordings - Boston, Vegas, NY Rangers and Detroit (but only when they moved into their new building). This is really noticeable with Detroit because what was one of the most powerful horns in the league is now one of the wimpiest - apparently it's a health and safety issue with LCA's acoustics and decibel readings. Still unfortunate. Most of the NHL arenas use ship horns but some use train horns (like Detroit and Winnipeg - Nathan and Buell horns are popular on locomotives). Toronto's old horn (prior to '05) was from an old VIA rail locomotive. I'm a bit of a nerd when it comes to these horns lol I've never been on a ship before (I don't live anywhere near a port lol) but I'd love to hear one of those beasts go off :)
Vegas actually uses a real horn. The red wings didn’t bring the horn over not because of acoustics but because it was a gas-powered ship horn that would have required a fireproof room up to current-day standards to move it to LCA. The rangers had a real horn for a season or so when they first got it but switched to a recording because it was too heavy for the rafters and made no sense to play it in a room under the arena and just play it on the speakers
I went on a cruise with my girlfriend not too long ago and when the ship announced it was leaving port, it would sound off three times like it did in the video - and it was the exact same as this horn. I was standing on the lower deck just beneath it... and what people don't realize is that with a real horn you can feel the thumps and vibrations all through your body when it goes off. LOVE this horn.
This was the old school Coliseum. Why you ask is because look at the Nassau logo and the Islanders logos. It's way different. The Islanders logo is way bigger and the Nassau logo is NYCB

The islanders had the goal song first btw and the person who made the song Joe Satriani is from Long Island where the islanders play. So check your facts on that one
Depends on the arena. Most of the time, the button is either located behind the net, in the dj booth, or along the goal line. Sometimes the dj uses a soundboard that plays it after the horn, and sometimes the entire system is computer automated and they just click a mouse to cue the horn plus the song.
