Yeah, it seems quite unfortunate when they hit the glass after a hit. Also when an opponents helmet strikes the head of another player. They are clean hits but can still cause concussions.
Idk if I'm out to lunch here but the Islanders crowd chanting "Boston sucks" while Carlo is injured on the ice is pretty classless to me. At least Clutterbuck seemed really good about the whole thing.
@Mikisiw grow up, there are things bigger and more important than sport. Being a decent reasonable human being gets you further than being an internet sports douche. Figure it out.
@@Jens95 How about disgusting team moments where a radio station on the urging of an NHL team does a promotion or actions that are considered disgusting & distasteful . Like Philadelphia fans acting like scum
Agreed. It's one thing to cheer before knowing a player is hurt. It's another to start a chant as a player is helped off the ice. Completely classless.
This is always the scary part about the game, eh? We love the hitting and the violence that comes with it, but we sometimes forget as fans that, for as big ang tough as these guys are (and some of them are big as hell, and they're all tough as nails), that, at the end of the day, they're still human beings, and are still subject to the laws of physics and medical science. I really do hope that we find a way to marry the violence and importance of hitting and physicality with making the game safe. And I'm gonna pre-argue with some of y'all: I know that hockey is, inherently, a violent sport, and that hitting is a part of the game. I'm not saying that it should go away. Far from it, actually. I love a giant hit just as much as the next fan. I just wish we could find a way to make the game completely safe, to the point where we don't need to worry about concussions, while still keeping in everything we love about the game.
I like contact in hockey but many of the big damaging hits don't actually end up serving any purpose that couldn't have been achieved with average contact. The vast majority of big hits don't end up being a pivotal moment in a play and all they do is cause damage in the end and do not contribute to the game itself. In fact big damaging hits often stop the play and the game and just cause unnecessary delays and injuries. I like contact as well but there is a difference between solid contact to get control of a puck and trying to actually hurt someone.
@@samuelsheldon7829 he literally touched the puck as he hit him and even turned around to chase the puck as it went behind him. That is a textbook, shoulder to chest, clean hit.
@@TimberWolf99 buddy that holding the stick doesn’t even hold up as a penalty, two hands on his stick and the other players stick was in Hartmans armpit, if anything that’s a hooking on the flames. All the happened is a player fell and got hurt
@@TimberWolf99 man, they were in a tussle initiated by the Defenseman, Hartman never let go of his stick, and the defenseman cause the spin to happen by putting his arms into Hartman's armpit. that was no penalty. Goo on the reffs to stop the play quick, but bad call. it looks bad, but that shouldn't have been a penalty just cause of the way everything was initiated by the Defenseman and the fall was his fault, even if it did injure him.
"I think Bertuzzo was falling" lmao no he fell down AFTER boarding a player who was already on their knees. He fell because of how low he had to shift his COG just to make contact with Pelech.
always nice to see the canes making a hit on here instead of them just getting hit. Rn our player with the most hits is our smallest guy if the bigger players started hitting i wonder what the team would be like.
I don't know about the last one. The puck carrying offensive player gets 2 minutes because after contact with a defenseman that the defenseman initiated the d man lands badly?
*REQUEST:* Moment during the second period of tonight's Avs-Ducks game where one of the players yells "F*CK YOU!" and the Colorado announcer is like, "Ok." Happened between 14:00 and 13:28. I had to rewind a bit to make sure I heard correctly.
i really dont understand how the reffs calls those hit's so lately... like 30sec from the hit.. "oh, he must be hurt, we should stop the playing" oh rly..
They need to use the stretcher for these hits. No reason to drag them off punch drunk. These can be very serious injuries. Why not take the Precaution?
Lyndon Byers autographed my t shirt it says HEADS UP !!! LYNDON BYERS ! LOVE THAT GUY GREAT FRIENDS NOW 4 EVA ALSO DID THE POLAR PLUNGE FOR THE HANDYCAP OLYMPICS NANTASKET BEACH GOD BLESS ALL HOCKEY PLAYERS 🏒 EVEN THO THERE IS SOME SHITBAGS AND THEY KNO WHO THEY ARE ...😮
I hate it when players hit with elbow or shoulder to the head. Hits along the board too. It should be a plenty for those hits. Why can't every player try to do open ice hits. Shoulder to shoulder, or hip check's. Too many players get injured by dirty hit's. Some are careers. I don't watch hockey anymore because of dirty hit's.
there was big mistake by refereees pulling Bennet out of the situtation, cause 100% Carolina would have retaliate that tackle..so basicly Panters missed 2 min powerplay at least. and good example how coward Ovechkin is.. u call him Captain...shame.
Sad how these guys don't know how to take a hit. I get it, hitting isn't as big as it was, but you still need to learn how to take a hit and not get hurt. Half of these are preventable
According to Gary Bettman, TBIs don't exist. Tell that to the countless injured players who are ruined for life from traumatic brain injuries. The NFL changed their ways. Why can't the NHL? Get rid of the goon crap and focus on skill.
A LOT of guys think hits like all of these are "clean". I'm sorry, but any hit that has the potential to cause life-threatening injuries is FAR from clean. I swear some guys just like seeing others get hurt.
Most of these hits are clean and shoulder into the body, the sudden stop can cause head trauma, its also known as wiplash and we see it in car crash individuals. These are unfortunate and you never wish for this to happen to any player, but most were squeky clean.
Injuries don't make clean hits dirty. Just unfortunate. These didn't even look like Steven's hits or some of the other notorious headhunters trademark moves. Many of which were considered clean in the era they played.
so you don't like checking, or skating, or shooting the puck? because all of those has the potential to cause life-threatening injuries. they have a name for that stuff I can't seem to remember... oh wait, its called playing a professional sport.
wasnt diving, he lost all edges and had alot of momentum. i would ask you to try and hold on to a mary-go-round with one arm wrapped around a poll, and a leg on then get thrown off. its very similar and the movement isnt intentional. which is why there shouldn't have been a penalty, and why he also go hurt so bad.
If the NHL wants to grow in popularity in America, they have to keep up the hitting….. and the fighting. It sells. Without good hard checking hockey is basically figure skating with sticks
