FOR BEST RESULTS USE HEADPHONES!!
A piece of electro-acoustic music using piano, flute, guitar and electronics.
For visuals, I have inter-cut two experimental films about infrastructure in a specific city. Shirley Clarke's classic 'Bridges Go Round' (1958) treats New York's bridges artistically, and Igor and Svetlana Kopystiansky's 'Moscow Wires' (1987) views Moscow tramway's grid of electrical wires in an abstract manner.
If you are uncertain which film is which: one is predicated on a faith in individual freedoms and the pursuit of happiness; the other is constructed along collectivist materialist lines.

really enjoyed the interplay between piano and flute, aleatoric yet sublime! the drones toward the last half of the track are great too. the visuals add an additional layer to the uncanny valley you've created here, excellent work

Thanks SH, you're very encouraging!! As you no doubt spotted, the droning towards the end comes from more flutes!!

I enjoy your astute sonic analysis of film history, This is a very lush score, very pleasant to listen to. I think flute and guitar go together really well.

@@MalleableSound no doubt!, I always think I have a grasp on either music or film, and then some other hitherto unknown dimension just falls open, so that's why I persist so hard at digging for new things.

The way you montage both films is very effective (the Moscow Lines is an incredible piece). The music is well-formed! From the unfolding and introduction of instruments to the cloud of textures leading to the sparse and slower development. I used to live and breathe in this universe when I was a student of Barney Childs, who's sort of an underrated composer and who explored lots of aleatoric methods (not to assume that your work is, but it reminds me of that universe). There isn't enough of this stuff anymore, and I sort of miss it. Overall, awesome work!

You were lucky to be able to study with such a polymath as Childs. His spells in England (Oxford University and Goldsmith's, London) are intriguing!!! Many thanks for the support!! Not really sure what I'm doing, it sort of comes out!!!!

@@MalleableSound I always strive for "not really sure what I'm doing," so you're doing it right. Thanks for acknowledging Barney; I was 17 when he took me on in college, and he was something of a father figure to me (in addition to being a teacher) at a time when I was going through plenty of teenage angst.
