@@TheChocoboRacerkey word, “almost”. If Cary pizza loses to New York pizza, why do you think some random Illinois pizza shop in the middle of the city of Cary could solo?
@@CompGuyo If a random pizza shop in Cary almost beats the best shop in New York, it seems highly likely that the best in chicago is better than the best in New York.
@@CompGuyoyou just proved his point you are mad slow Litsen here a random pizza place in Chicago vs one of if not the best pizza place in New York and Chicago almost won
Right? I've been in Chicago all my life and have never heard of this place lol it's not even Chicago Tavern Style either! Impossible to compare to NY thin crust
I'm not from Chicago. Went to Giovanni's, and the wait was worth it! Signed my name on one of the walls upstairs, and my firstborn daughter (along with myself) fell in love with deep dish pizza! This video doesn't do justice
@@sofaking733It’s highly overrated. It’s literally the most overrated food EVER. But, even though this is true, it’s still delicious. Pizza tastes good, but certainly isn’t the best dish out there.
@@sofaking733 It really is. I haven’t had pizza in over a year because I just haven’t craved it at all. I tried Chicago pizza back in 2019 but I still remember the amazing taste because it’s literally the best pizza i’ve probably ever eaten. It was so good I ate it little by little to make sure it lasted a while lol
This genuinely made me laugh lol and you both are right like I’m from New York and I see people riding the worst subway lines, then going on to ride the best lines in other cities and rate those ones higher!
The guy is not too swift. REAL Chicago pizza to ANY local is thin, not pan. Pan is considered a casserole to native Chicagoans. Chicago Thin is checkerboard cut oily , foldable and makes NY thin seem like frozen.
It’s not a casserole, it’s Pizza Pie 🥧 (Chicago Deep Dish) or double crust, or Thin & all 3 are Chicago Originals, been there for a long time and you definitely find all three all over Chicago.

As a Chicago citizen, I have literally never heard of Uncle Jerry's in my life, so I shriveled up and died inside when he said "just outside of Chicago".
@@stoptakingthenamesdumbpeopleHe needs to go to an actual place. That pizza wasn’t thick enough or saucy enough. Geno’s East in downtown Chicago should do the trick.
I swear, part of the allure of people reviewing food who really aren’t qualified is them making obviously over the top mistakes that the comment section is gonna go wild on. Which video would do better, a short like this where he just tried a well known pizza place in NYC and then went to a well known pizza place in Chicago? Lots of people did that and it’s not exactly super interesting content. But go to some random place in a city where people are very proud of their pizza that’s serving pie’s that don’t even look like Chicago deep dish…. Now that’ll get people engaging in this post Wouldn’t be surprised if this is purposeful, I don’t think they’re so unaware to where they just oopsied and picked a completely random not authentic spot. They got people all riled up😂 now that’s how you get views!
And because it’s so far out nobody has heard of it. It’s telling when you say the BEST pizza place in NYC was SLIGHTLY better than deep dish pizza at some random place. Imagine if he got deep dish pizza from a well known and good pizza place
@@vectorrondon5852despite you being so pedantic, I mean I thought it looked good I’m sure the “honey dip” was an option they chose lol I don’t understand why they didn’t get a more plain pizza for comparison kind of dumb 😂😂
Man!! I’m mad you didn’t go to Ricobene’s in Chicago to test your theory. I’m not even from Chicago 🤷🏾♀️ This deserves a do over cause you didn’t even make it to the heart of Chicago! And for the record, I’m from Savannah, GA….I’ve had both and Chicago is my favorite 🤩
First of all, go to Chicago, not just outside of Chicago. Then if you're going to do deep dish, go to Giordano's, Lou Malnati's, Gino's East, or Pizzeria Uno. Now understand that deep dish is really more for special occasions or tourists. The best more "everyday" pizza in Chicago will usually come from a small neighborhood place. This pizza is thin crust and is cut into squares. If you're born & raised in Chicago, you know what I'm talking about.
Im from Joliet, and I totally agree with this statement. If we were having pizza on a regular basis, we would have the extra large square pizzas, but on "special occasions" like a date night, we'd get deep dish.
@tritontransport - OP is right. I live IN Chicago proper. People make Chicago worse than it actually is because of outdated information from social media. If they are visiting a suburban place yet refuse to visit Chicago proper, or only limit their visit to certain spots in Chicago, it's a matter of time before they get called out for being scared.
I especially don't understand the "fresh" part. I've had John's of Bleeker. Not saying it isn't fresh, just that it isn't notably more fresh than its peers. The sauce tastes like canned San Marzano tomatoes, like most traditional NY pizza joints. They aren't using super cheap processed ingredients or frozen crusts, but neither is anyone else who's worth a crap.
Who tf is Uncle Jerry 🤣🤣🤣 all of my 34 years I been in and out of Chicago and never heard of him lol. My man's went to a grocery store for some pizza 💀
The funny thing is, the people here don't really eat deep dish as often as people think. People probably prefer the tavern style/chicago style thin crust more. Especially with how common delivery is, and delivery deep dish is not good compared to eating it at a restaurant.
Nahhhh this is wild asf 😂 i showed my mom, who has lived in Chicago, her whole 50+ years of her life, and she said, "Outside Chicago? That's not gonna be good at all. Who the hell is Jerry? No square cuts?! Smh He walked into a Bodega to get a pizza, "and i think that sums it up, Giovanni's all the way, baby 🤙🏼
@@j.robertsergertson4513No, he's saying that the guy cherry picked the best NY pizza place and just went for a random joint outside of Chicago. And the random outside of Chicago still almost beat the cherry picked NY. So if he'd been as selective with (and actually in) Chicago, NY would have lost.
First off, deep dish is delicious but Chicago doesn't eat only deep dish pizza and not everyday like other states seem to think. It's a couple of times a year thing & especially to give visitors lol. We mostly eat pub style: thin crust cheese and sausage cut into squares like Pequods. But everyone has their favorite place.
It's quite good imo. We also do tavern style to around these parts. Both are good. But if you get deep dish at least for me. I always need multiple toppings otherwise got too much in the cheese in the ratio of the pizza.
I live in Oakwood Hills, I looked up the Uncle Jerry’s pizza Company place they went to and it’s literally eight minutes away from my house. This is nowhere even near Chicago.
Same with Chicago. Nobody here eats deep dish or claims it, it's not Chicago style just cause it's from here. Lol ask any chicagoin what real Chicago style is and it's a big slice the size of your torso damn near and a can of pop for 5 bucks of some pizza thats pretty similar to New York style honestly. I mean how different can u make pizza anyways. Deep dishes are dumb ASF
I got a couple rock solid places that I’d recommend here for thin, pan crust, and deep dish. I watch all the East coast pizza reviews, I’d still put ours on top. Going downtown as a tourist doesn’t justify anything.
@@Kompy__The best pizza is the original REAL DEAL pizza napoletana, the rest is americans trying make pizza and failing, cause they don't even come close to Italians in that regard.
@@Kompy__ Lol, you're so butthurt that you took this personal. About my loss of hair, I never really care about that, nor do the ladies, this is a thing only weak-minded men care about, i'm getting laid frequently and tbh more than before. And no, i'm not italian, so, no, i don't have any nationalist mindset about this whatsoever.
This comment made me laugh cause you said as soon as you heard "Just outside of Chicago" which was halfway through the video, then you said "I knew this was rigged from the start", which makes no sense. Dont add the "from the start" bit because when they said "just outside of Chicago" It was already half way through the short..
That's by far the best looking Chicago style pizza I've ever seen. Normally they look like goopy abominations that come closer in terms of eating experience to a poorly made casserole or a collapsing quiche than a pizza...
NYC is also famous for its pizza! Of course they have the most delicious types of pizzas! There’s even a pizza place in Brooklyn I ate at that is the best
bruh, I have lactose intolerance and I choose cheese Every chance I get lol, maybe I'm more lactose sensitive cause the only time I remember a bad situation was when I was brave enough to have a glass of 3% milk, my tummy hurt that day and I was on the toilet for an extra 10 minutes 😏
I went to Lou Malnati's Pizzeria in Chicago a few years back they had the best deep dish pizza I’ve ever had! That’s one of the several reasons why I want to take a trip back to Chicago 😩
Lou’s is the best pizza hands down. Tbh New York style pizza doesn’t stand a chance, doesn’t even come close to how amazing Chicago deep dish pizza is. Just the facts.
You owe it to yourself to try Pequods. I lived on the same block of Lou’s original restaurant in Lincolnwood for 10 years, now I work a half a block from Pequods out in Morton Grove 🎉🎉🎉 Pizza Gods have been great to me 👌
not only that, but also going into the hood isnt a huge mission, people act like its a literal warzone and they are the oppenents, Just be safe and do what you are doing there @@connorgolden4
as an Italian mamma mia pizzeria I'd say that the new York style looks much closer to what I'd call a "regular" or "average' pizza you could get in a normal restaurant in Italy.
I went to this place in Naples Italy 🇮🇹 (the birthplace of 🍕) back in 2019, the line to get a table was 2 hours. This place literally sourced all their ingredients from their farm, which was connected to the restaurant. Literally everything. And they opened back in 1887 I ordered the margarita pizza. 🤤 🤯 wtf how can something so simple taste so good. I can’t explain it, it was so perfect. I’ve been to all the portnoy pizza shops he’s rated. Eating all over Chicago, but this Naples pizza was just simply in its own category. The 2nd best pizza in the world is either Argentina 🇦🇷 or Japan 🇯🇵
As someone who regularly goes to Chicago and NY I never understood the comparison New York's water makes it taste different. Bad new York Pizza is still good. It's also usually simpler. Chi Town has more heavy, savory flavors and ingredients imo. I feel like a Chicago pizza is a dinner and an NY pizza is for any time
