Some people overlook an incredibly valuable set of advantages of drones. 1. The craft can be designed to handle maneuvers a pilot couldn't survive, and then use those maneuvers. 2. If a drone is shot down, the operator can learn from the experience and apply his/her experience as soon as a new drone is assigned to that station.

That reminds me of the time I was living in Europe for a while, I don't remember ever seeing any planes in the sky unless I'm close to an airport. Here in the USA, I see them every day, and there's usually 5+ planes at the same time no matter where I go.

The first Gatling guns were hand cranked and fired 400-600 rounds per minute. A common one at the time fired the .45-70 cartridge, which was originally designed to hunt buffalo from a long distance (when you aim at a herd of buffalo a mile in diameter, you're bound to hit one of them). During the Spanish American war, the Navy mounted electric motors to the old Gatling guns, fitted them with much larger drum magazines and mounted them to the rails on the side of the ship to provide covering fire for Marines landing on the beach when it would have been too dangerous to fire artillery. After WW2, they needed faster firing aircraft guns for dogfighting with jets, so they built the 20mm gatling guns and they evolved into larger calibers. Now they mount miniguns (smaller 7.62mm Gatling guns) on top of vehicles and in the doors of helicopters. They have 25mm and 30mm gatling guns mounted on the decks of ships for anti-aircraft and anti-missile defense. The most famous Gatling gun is the 30mm GAU-8 mounted in the A-10 Warthog. To save ammo, keep the barrels from overheating, and the actions from beating themselves to death, most gatling guns are limited to fire up to 4000 rounds per minute.

It was actually a f-35 lighting II the f22 has two engines while the f35 had 1. There other visual differences but that's the easiest way to know the difference. Hope this helped.

The engine air intakes angle towards the fuselage on the F-35, while they angle away on the F-22. Also it said F-35 on the vertical stabilizer.

The atom bomb was tested at an island in the pacific called Bikini Atoll. It destroyed the coral reef and leveled the entire island to dust. The navy collected the remains and built a concrete dome to house the fallout. That facility was abandoned years ago although every 20 years or so concrete has to be repoured to make sure no cracks appear. That photo was the initial test of bikini atoll which took two naval destroyer down with it. Though this explosion pails in comparison to Tsar Bomba which the Russians tested near Greenland. That explosion was close to two miles high and nearly irradiated the entirety of Europe fortunately weather dropped the radiation into the sea. Russia never tried again after that.

To answer your question, yes, nuclear submarines can launch their missiles without surfacing. Simply speaking, they use compressed air to send the missile out of the launch tube and it ignites when it reaches the surface. It's too bad the video didn't mention the M61 Vulcan cannon which can fire 6,000 rounds/minute and is used on the AC-130 gunship and the A-10 Thunderbolt II (Warthog) with devastating results. Also, the same design concept is used in the smaller .30 caliber mini gun which can be used on helicopters and other smaller mobile platforms. As for smart bombs, we American civilians were really surprised during the Operation Desert Storm to see bombs literally fly through the window of a building and then explode. Of course, it didn't have to go through a window, but the it had sufficient accuracy that it could. It was a real game-changer, as the video said. And finally, the reason the first Stealth Fighter had that strange faceted, angular shape was due to the limitations of computing power back in 1981. As computers became more powerful, the designers were able to achieve same stealth capabilities but in more flowing, aerodynamic shapes.
@robreesor5011
@robreesor5011 2 месяца назад
The M-61 vulcan is not the same gun used on the A-10 that gun is called the GAU-8 Avenger and is somewhere around 3 to 4 times bigger than the M-61 the majority of the fusealge of the A-10 hides the GAU-8 inside it under and behide the stick operator aka pilot.

Everything is original, and all of the vehicles and guns are operational. There are also gun ranges on the property.

Correct, that's why the actual name for the military version of these aircraft is Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA), not Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV). You can thank the media for the name change....
@BTinSF
@BTinSF 2 месяца назад
The next step in the evolution of autonomous military planes is the "loyal wingman" concept in which a piloted fighter aircraft is accompanied by a swarm of autonomous planes under the pilot's control. The current design for this capability seems to be the XQ-58A Valkyrie. These plans are capable of autonomous (AI controlled) attacks and even dogfighting. The one thing they can't do autonomously is decide who or what to attack or fight, and there is an intense debate in many countries over whether, if ever, to endow military aircraft with this capability. The danger is apparent in a recent "what if" I heard: What if we gave machines the mission of eliminating famine? They might decide the quickest way to do that would be to cut the global population in half by eliminating half the current population."

These weapons are just the latest ones the U.S. government let you know about because they were designed decades ago. Trust me when I say there are new planes and weapons already made that are still deemed top secret that you don't know about yet. Us Americans are very proud people and we like to be THE BIGGEST, BADDEST, BULLIES ON THE BLOCK so to speak. That way if a country even looks at us the wrong way they're going to get dealt with in a way that's not going to end well for them. Love your videos guys, hope you come back and visit us again. My stepson is in the navy in Massachusetts, we just spent a week with him on the base seeing planes taking offf all day and night. It's impressive seeing it right in front of you everyday. at 3:58, that weapon is an semi-autonomous radar controlled system called a C-RAM (Counter-Rocket Artillery & Mortar) if land based. The Navy has the same system on their ships, but they call it CIWS or Close-In Weapon System, but most navy squids just call it the SeaWizz. It can be set up to automatically respond to an incoming airborne threat or set to just lock on and wait for an operator to pull the trigger. It shoots 20mm incendiary rounds at a rate of 6,000 rounds per minute, though its ammo drum holds approximately 20,000 rounds. It is designed to obliterate any incoming artillery aimed at US bases or ships, but can also be used to shoot down enemy drones and some smaller surface boats when manually controlled. These systems are semi-mobile when land based, but take forever to move as they are usually sitting on the back of a semi-truck trailer and surrounded by concrete walls and sandbags for protection and noise dampening (which doesn't work, ask me how I know). While EXTREMELY loud, they are absolutely awesome to watch and one of my absolute favorite weapon systems in our arsenal.

If you ever go to Colorado during football season, check out the football games at the Air Force Academy - so much fun and very family friendly. During Tech School in the Air Force, our barracks was parallel with the runway. We could sit on the balcony and watch all the different planes take off and land, literally all day and night. Off base there was a go-cart track that had really fast go-carts that could actually go fast enough to jump a hill. The pilots would go there and try to do barrel rolls with the go-carts when they jumped the hill. Too many pilots got injured doing it, so the base commander ordered that the place was off limits to military personnel.

If San Diego is one of your stops on your next U.S. trip you might like to visit Balboa Park. There are 18 museums in the park. One is the SAN DIEGO AIR & SPACE MUSEUM “As one of only a handful of air and space museums in the country to be an affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution, the San Diego Air & Space Museum is home to a collection of historic aircraft and spacecraft illustrating the history of flight. The collection includes a flight-worthy replica of Charles Lindbergh’s “Spirit of St. Louis,” the actual Apollo 9 Command Module, and the only real GPS satellite display in the world. View artifacts from the Wright Brothers, Charles Lindbergh, Amelia Earhart, Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, Wally Schirra and other aviation and space pioneers.” You might want to visit the San Diego Zoo while you’re there. San Diego has many great places to visit. Another attraction at the pier is the USS Midway museum.

I just went to the “Sun N’ Fun” airshow in Lakeland, Florida. And I couldn’t stop thinking about you guys. An airshow occupies an airport for a few days so that you can see all sorts of aircraft, INCLUDING military ones, up close on the ground AND demonstrated in the air. The Sun N’ Fun is one of the country’s best airshows. They have acrobatic shows, historical flights (historical aircraft recreating things like the bombing at Pearl Harbor), and modern military aircraft like the F-22 and F-35. It always happens in the Spring and Lakeland is only about an hour from Orlando, so you could focus an entire family trip on that area sometime in the future. (Spring is also the best time of year to visit Florida, weather wise)

One of the most insane things I’ve ever witnessed is when the F-22 Raptor came out and was demonstrated at one of these shows. It was one of the super creepiest and super coolest things I’ve ever seen. Airplanes aren’t supposed to do what I saw it do that first time. Stopping in midair and just sitting there unmoving, slowly rotating, still not going forward then blasting off in that new direction. It’s impossible to describe what it’s like live. Extremely unnerving and intimidating. You DO NOT want that death machine hunting you! It does UFO s**t. 🛸 It did much more, but I don’t want to write a book here. 😳😬

Some guy sitting in Florida or Nevada or some airbase somewhere is not going to see better or know better than an experienced pilot. Now I'm not saying there isn't a place for drones, but you'd have to show me it can be done in a head to head battle.

Anti-personnel and anti-vehicle drones are the big thing now, mass-produced under 500$ cost. fly in land, wait for soldiers or tanks to come in range, pop up, hit target, and explode. Like a self-guided flying land mine. also small quadcopters that deliver hand garande-sized bombs on targets. Right to a tiny, quiet drone that can fly in rooms and buildings and let soldiers spot the enemy without them knowing.
@douglascampbell9809
@douglascampbell9809 2 месяца назад
The thing with drones is they are piloted. It's just done remotely. The single largest factor that limits aircraft maneuvering is the pilot. We can and have designed aircraft (x-29) that can turn so hard they kill the pilot. If you pull out all the life support items and add better maneuverability at a lower weight it's not even a question as to will it make the US military stronger than it's peer nations. Rumor has it the SR 71's replacement will actually be a drone. A mach 14 edge of space drone.

Many of the drone pilots are very young men and women who are often very troubled by the havoc that they wreak sitting hundreds or thousands of miles away from the battle. Their infrared sensors can see as the person that they bombed bleeds out and goes cold. Many of them experience a unique strain of PTSD.

Nadine, the picture ask if it was real in the atomic weapons portion is real. It is of the “Baker” test on Bikini Atoll after WWII. In the picture if you look closely on the right hand side of the water column going up, you will notice a dark vertical dash. This vertical dash looking object was the Battleship Nevada. For perspective, the ship is a little more than 600 feet in length. I know it is a rather morbid subject talking about nuclear weapons, however there is a rather curious little fact that has videos on RU-vid about it. There was an engineer from Japan that is the only documented survivor of both blasts at Hiroshima and Nagasaki. He also lived for a long time after surviving both bombs, however he did have some life long health issues afterwards.

When you asked if that was a real photo, it definitely was. Later in life I learned that someone I knew, a post WW2 naval veteran, actually witnessed a A-bomb going off. It was one that they tested in the pacific where you see the mushroom cloud over the water. He was on the deck of a ship, with "protective" clothing, cream and goggles. When the bomb went off his ship was far enough away from ground zero but they were hit with the shock wave. If you look for tests in the Pacific, you'll see footage of sailors on the ship having that happen. He was one of them. When I asked him how it was, he replied it was like nothing he ever saw before and never wanted to see again. He never had any ill effects from the test but others did. Over his life he went in for periodic checkups and test. He never talked about it and I only learned about it by chance.

With the drones, they are still piloted by a human in a secret location, like a video game. The drones do not go off on their own.

Isreal & Japan have a good habit of taking equipment we sell to them & improving our tech. Israel's Iron dome was a joint venture, but later improved by Israel. Japan has improved and now created a better version of our F22 fighter.

The reasons not to mess with the US military video is actually when i first discovered your channel, a few videos after that, i ended loving your whole family and have been watching since. Would love to see more of Atlantas kitchen, there hasnt been many of those recently. Loved the US video log though, its nice to see that people still appreciate our Country despite not being from here. As long as you stay away from the politics here, you wont be disappointed.

It's so funny how lives can be. Your family reminds me so much of mine in many ways. But I'm from the US and when I was a little girl I learned my fighter aircraft along with local flora and fauna. Mommy teaches me about the plants she grows and birds we see, Daddy teaches us about the differences in the jets he designs. Then when we're playing in the creek by our house, we watched the fighter jets do practice maneuvers below the tree line. That part isn't so normal here though.

That gun at the end of the Gatling Gun part, we have some of those on my ship and I'll tell you, that gun can be scary! I don't work with them, but whenever I go to the fantail (the back part of my ship) I look at the guns, and one time the top swirled around on one of them and freaked me out! I thought it was tracking to shoot me! 🤣🤣🤣

The American Civil War (War between the States, North Vs. South) was fought 1861-1865. So it was only 159 years ago, not quite "hundreds", but still the gattling gun was quite the bit of technology.

The F15E Strike Eagles with SJ on tail are from Seymour Johnson AFB in Goldsboro North Carolina. They are assigned to the 4th Fighter Wing. I still feel that there needs to be a human pilot in the plane. A pilot in the plane can have better control over the situation than someone hundreds of miles away.

AI drones that don’t need gps to hit the target either machine or human by defying any jamming attempts. Autonomous sea drones that can fire missiles. Total combat awareness and communication among troops, planes, ships, armored vehicles. Autonomous subs supporting the actual combat sub. It’s all already here in the US being further developed.

Fat Electrician has a video about Pigeon Guided bombs developed during WWII, so technically the US had guided missles in the 40s, they weren't widely used until the 70s.

Something to think about when it comes to drones. They can be hacked. Meaning that someone else could take over the wireless signal and make it do what they wanted it to do. There will always be pilots. Drone pilots are basically gamers.

You all have an amazing family! Thank you for supporting my country. Most Americans are very nice a welcoming. However, we fiercely protest each other and our allies. Having been stationed in Japan, a lot of people there liked us. I had a Japanese girlfriend, she would tell me, stories her grandparents told her from the occupation. “The Americans were so nice. They would give the children candy and reassure them everything will be okay.” My grandfather left Europe after the Germany surrendered, he went to Japan to help help the children learn algebra and English.

Lots of countries produce and use (or sell) drones for military operations. The biggest concern for the US right now are Iranian drones, which are being widely used in Ukraine. Iran has been building drones since the 80s and they've gotten pretty good at it. There are some moral issues raised by the idea of a UAV piloted from a bunker in Colorado firing missiles at targets in Iraq or Afghanistan-- but the real soul searching will come when AI is combined with drone technology to create a lethal aircraft that decides for itself whether to launch a missile against a target. There would be tremendous benefits-- you could program a drone to locate a particular target and destroy it, while the onboard AI makes the final decision to shoot, considering the likelihood of collateral damage and civilian casualties based on conditions on the ground that can't be anticipated. Do we want to create machines that autonomously do our killing for us? The sad truth is, if the other side starts to do it, we will too. A lot to think about there.

Just as the gun made it easier to distance oneself from the intimacy and brutality of melee combat, unmanned systems allow us to distance ourselves further, increasing the risk of desensitizing us from the horrors of war. Then we all run the risk of seeing war the way some generals and most politicians do, as simply a numbers game.
