And by signing the Declaration of Independence, it was guaranteed death if they didn’t win the war with England. So basically, they signed their death warrants. John Hancock’s signature was the first and is the largest. One anecdote says that he signed it so large so “it could be read without spectacles”. To this day in America, you might hear someone ask for your “John Hancock”, which simply means they are asking for your signature.
@CelticSpiritsCoven
@CelticSpiritsCoven 3 года назад
Actually John Hankock was first. He didn't think many people would sign it (because it meant they they would be hung by the neck until dead if USA lost). So he signed his name large thinking there would only be one or two more signatures. Imagine signing your death warrant before finding out who else would sign theirs! Yes, you are correct about "asking for the John Hancock when signing forms". Even women refer to their signatures as "John Hancock". It's amazing to hear.

The problem is, yes law enforcement and the military swear that oath...but yet if WE THE PEOPLE chose to rise up....who does the military support? CALL OUT THE NATIONAL GUARD, THERE ARE PATRIOTS ON THE LOOSE!. Same with cops, kissing their bosses ass doing what they are told instead of questioning orders and upholding people's rights. Patriots that stand up for their rights are victimized and made out to be dissidents or terrorists, and you all who tout that oath just go with the flow. "Ve ver only following ze ordas, hail Hitler!" Why bother with an oath? You all just do what your told because you don't want to face disciplinary action for questioning the constitutionality of your orders.

For starters, The U.S. military chases false enemies overseas while ignoring the true enemy behind the veil at home.. so it’s clear you aren’t good at making judgment calls. Biden and Trump are bed buddies, by the way. Trump closed all but one base in Afghanistan so Biden could wrap it up and get to Ukraine. Never occurred to you why the U.S. split from Afghanistan so fast, no? Obama, Trump, and Biden are all guilty of the illegal U.S. occupation of Syria. Fracking by Raytheon industries there is likely what triggered the earthquakes that killed 50,000 people. Why do you go around like a circus claiming to be a defender of the constitution when you’re absolutely clueless as to what is occurring? That’s what gets me.

I'm an American and I just wanted to help the clarification between when the Star Spangled Banner was written and the Declaration of Independence was signed. The Declaration was signed (or is at least when we celebrate it) during the Revolutionary War where America wanted independence from Britain. The Star Spangled Banner was written during the War of 1812 where again America and Britain fought, but this time because of Britain's violation of maritime laws( and also trade restrictions and the British seizing American ships). I hope this helped- if I am wrong feel free to correct me! 😊
@deepscuba7384
@deepscuba7384 3 года назад
Every time I watch a reaction to that Star Spangled Banner history post, I want to write a correction... Then I would have to explain the whole deal, including the British marching north from DC where they burned the White House and the Capital building. Also the violent storm that nearly destroyed their marching columns and delayed them making it to FT McHenry (the correct name). In a way, the War of 1812 cemented our RIGHT to be a free an independent nation that was not to be bullied by our former overlord. Americans would fight when provoked and not give in... That's when we really cemented our reputation.
@abbys3694
@abbys3694 3 года назад
@@deepscuba7384 it is a long story that shows the struggle of a British colony fighting against its ruler. Since America gained its independence, many colonies of Britain and other countries have fought back against their rulers. In a way, America was one of the first truly successful countries to gain our freedom and then become a world superpower. We showed others the benefits of freedom. Not to mention the amount of struggles the US has had with Britain- the Revolutionary War and The War of 1812 were just the main ones.

That mostly covers the part America played. The French and British fleets were fighting for control of the world's seas. France had freed itself from King Louis XVI by freeing him of his head and Napoleon wanted all of Europe and even tried to invade Russia and Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture was written (give it a listen I guarantee you've heard it). Add in Spain trying to prevent Napoleon from taking Ibeza and Portugal while Napoleon is gearing for defeat at Waterloo by putting his brother Louis on the Dutch throne. (edit) Feel free to correct me if I am wrong. It was essentially a world war. In and around that time was termed a phrase; "the Sun never sets on the British Empire".

The way I’ve always viewed it is that it’s a celebration of the official beginning of the United States. July 4, 1776 is a date all Americans memorized, but beyond that day(signing of the Declaration of Independence): the holiday is for us to reflect on the end of the revolutionary war with Britain, asserting our demand to be free, and officially, like the video said, it marks the signing of the Declaration of Independence, which is of equal importance as the Constitution (which was actually written a few years later, and we didn’t have our first president for a few years later either) - But nonetheless, it’s the day that represents “FREEDOM” ... and it’s for all the people (“nobodies”) who fought and risked everything to fight in the revolution & for France for allying with us. Just a great deal of gratitude toward those brave citizens, who were NOT soldiers, but just ordinary men & women, often teenagers who would rather die for their liberty than stay under the rule of a non-representative over-reaching Government.. the Declaration of Independence is what Martin Luther King Jr pointed to in his famous speech, saying if “all men are created equal” as it says, it’s time we start acting like it(when MLK said he came to “cash the check” in his ‘dream’ speech). And so the civil rights movement started out of a demand to get what the declaration promised us all. So part of what makes America great is the simplicity of the constitution & declaration because we can fix all of our issues by going back to them & seeing where we went wrong - though we were never intended to stray from the core principles in the first place. So July 4th is a day of gratitude to all of the above. It’s about being proud to be an American, grateful to be free, and a strong sense of duty to also be courageous and put your own life on the line if ever the time comes. Soldiers( & patriots) in the United States are different only in the sense that they fight not for their government, but for their own friends/families freedom. Our government is “we the people.”

Also worth adding: When an American joins the military, they don’t swear an oath to the government, they don’t swear an oath the the president or to the land.. but to The Constitution. So if we ever have a tyrannical leader/government that tries to make orders against that constitution, our troops would not be obliged to defend the government/leader’s interests...But instead obliged to defend the constitution & protect it’s free citizens. Thank God we had some very wise founding fathers

@BiLLyB0B33
@BiLLyB0B33 3 года назад
You *do* realize that America declared war on Great Britain in 1812, not the other way around, right? Some of the reasons included pressing American sailors into the Royal Navy (claiming that they were British deserters) and the trade embargoes against France (which GB was at war with). The US declared war 1) as a response to these perceived offences, and 2) to try to seize Canada. One prominent American politician boasted that conquering Canada (as it was) was a "mere matter of marching." Things didn't work out well for America. GB defended its Canadian colony, and would've wrecked the USA to the core if it's citizens hadn't been so tired of war from the decades of fighting w/ Napoleon.
@johnalden5821
@johnalden5821 3 года назад
Fellow American here. The British did not "try again to regain the colonies." We declared war on them, based on gross violations of our sovereignty (at least in the view of the war's proponents in Congress). The British were not looking for a war with us, they just were ignoring our territorial and trade rights. BTW/declaring war on the most powerful maritime nation in history (up to that point) was certainly a gutsy move, but it very nearly was disastrous and we were lucky to get out of that war with our borders and independence intact.

I found that my spirits shot up significantly and I felt reconnected to my own life. You have lovely children that seem to be very very happy with their lives. It's good to see kids being kids and your kids are really good at it. Their parents also appear to be happy with their lives and the four of you are so respectful to each other. That's something you don't see a lot of these days. I'm rambling I just wanted to say thank you for some happy days I wouldn't have had otherwise. I hope there are many videos to come. The U.S. separated from England primarily because Britain placed extremely high taxes on the people of what is now the U.S.. And Britain did not allow the U.S. to have any say in government. Please learn your history. Did Britain piss off America by doing some pretty shady stuff pre-1812? Yes. Was America motivated by wanting to conquer Canada? Also yes. Did America initiate the war? Yes. Would Britain have reconquered the colonies if it wasn't so war-weary over the past decades w/ Napoleon? Most likely. It ended in a stalemate. The only side that lost were the First Nations.
