@@isakjohansson7134 Definitely empty. Will be headed to the inland port for storage until the harvest season. There is a special super B train that can carry 4 empty 20" boxes. You will notice the big cliffs at the entrance that limits the size of the sea port so most all storage is done inland.

Most of these "American" trucks are specially made for New Zealand & Australian conditions. Compared to the true American trucks in the States, our versions are designed to withstand more extreme types of terrain and also do heavier work. American truck brands such as Kenworth, Mack, Freightliner, Western Star are either built or re-manufactured in Australia for this part of the world. Addtionally, International/Navistar also build trucks here in New Zealand exclusively for us.

The twin steering axles help with steering while supporting more weight from what I understand.

Comfier ride, safer in a blowout, better traction, take more weight, win win really

8 axle units can range from 46 to 52 tonnes depending on length, while the 9 axle units can go from 50 to 58 tonnes. The 11 axle B train can go 60 + I believe, though the permits seem to be going up in weight all the time.

What do you mean? That's exactly what they are for. The emmersons KWs for example are built to spec and are only permitted to run 62T between the pulp mill and the port specifically, due to the weights. Same with other H units in NZ they run on permits along specified routes with the whole idea being max weights and/or length to move the most product.

All that money you would save on tyres will soon be spent repairing the nice and smooth road surfaces you see in this video. Countries that move containers on 4 axles are usually 3 world shit holes where no one pays for things because no one can make money because the roads are useless.

Not only this but you wouldn't even make it over the second hill in New Zealand.
