Learn how to edit a newborn photo with a lot of redness in the skin from beginning to end. I will be teaching you a technique for editing and retouching skin that gets rid of blemishes while still preserving the texture of the skin. The technique is "frequency separation" and it will forever change the way that you edit newborn photos! the best part about this technique is that it keeps the skin looking very natural so you can keep babies looking the way they should. It's perfect for editing out large areas of redness like stork bites and other blemishes. Newborn editing is truly an art but if you can master this technique, it will take your editing to the next level :)

This is the most helpful tutorial ever! Is there downloadable "portrature" and "Pop it" actions available? Or where can I get the step by step instructions for them?

I'm so glad that you found it helpful! Portraiture is a separate plug in that you would need to purchase from imagenomic.com I personally love it and I use their noiseware plugin as well but otherwise there is a simpler "skin fix" action in the action pack that we have available for download. The pop it action is from DTP practical collection found here: dtpactions.bigcartel.com/product/dtp-action-bundle I used a number of their actions from that collection including bye bye red, lighten up, sunny glow and icy blast. This one also includes a baby smooth skin action. However there are lots of other action collections on the market so you can try finding one that suits your style. Hope that helps!

Hello just came across your RU-vid and I’m loving all your content. Just had my son May 4th so I’m wanting to try some newborn photos myself at home and was looking for poses etc. I have a question, do I need photoshop to use the editing free pack you posted? My newborn has baby acne and I’m wondering could I edit that out but I don’t have photoshop? Is there something I can use for that, that is free for my DIY home newborn pics I’m wanting to take. I haven’t taken any photos of him because of it because I was hoping it would clear but it still hasn’t. Please let me know. Thank you!

HI, thank you! Yes, the action pack is meant for use in photoshop and photoshop is definitely what I would recommend for editing out baby acne as that's something that is very difficult to edit and make it look natural. What I would probably suggest is to take the images and then to pay someone to edit them for you. Or you can also try one of these free photoshop alternatives. I honestly don't have any experience using any of these as I have always used photoshop but if you're looking for a free alternative one of these might work for you. I have heard that gimp is a good alternative to photoshop. blog.appsumo.com/alternatives-to-photoshop/ You would need to make sure that the program allows layers and masking as well as some sort of healing tool which is what I would typically use for removing newborn acne. But you wouldn't be able to use any actions or presets as I don't know of any that work for the free programs. Hopefully that helps!

I think I am missing a step, after adding my texture and color layer and using the cloning stamp to touch up the red skin, after I flatten my image my image is extremely blurry. What step are you doing that makes my image not blurry anymore?

When I go to 'apply image' I just get a grey screen with no detail or outline of baby whatsoever. I've tried following the steps through 2 or 3 times. When I turn on my 'textures' layer to see what I've done in the colours layer there is no difference - any idea what has gone wrong? Thanks!

Any chance you could show what is in your action for Portraiture? Thanks! Also, downloaded your actions and when I tried to use the Freq. Separation one it says Make is no longer available. Did I do something wrong? Thanks!

hmmm, interesting. Thanks for letting me know!. I will take a look and fix that and give you another download link. Sorry about that! The portraiture action will only work if you have the portraiture plug in from imagenomic installed in your photoshop. If not, you can just use the skin fix action

I tested the action and it seems to be working just fine. What version of photoshop are you using? Also, are you trying to apply it to an image that you already have a mask on? Sometimes it will give you that error if you've already applied a mask to a layer that you're working on. Let me know if you're still having issues
