I was always told to drink it cold out of the fridge and straight from the bottle. I never have poured it into a glass. Its basically a coloured lager/ale hybrid now. It sells by the bucket load in the UK. Cheap and chuggable
Newcastle Brown Ale ⭐ 2.2.23 1621pm it was my first choice of beer when i initially started boozing at a heady 17 years of age... it was a nice drink - the days of Newcastle united sponsorship deals etc etc... 75pence. 75pence in 1989...to 1994... and you could get it for 1 quid 25pence in a club or music venue. you're correct, though, it's still a relatively cheap drink... though does not have the same zing to it it once had when i first went out to get pissed. rites of passage, man. rites of passage. the film black dynamite film is airing and he's seeking out the drink that shrinks the black man's nob - newcastle brown could have been it. ahahahahha... anyhow; i aint stopped drinking it. but then i aint black.
Here in the States we can't even get the watered down version. We have Newcastle "re-imagined". Between big corporations and big regulatory bodies, the workingman can't get an old standby anymore.
My drink of choice in my youth, we use buy a crate of 12 n get money off when we took the empty bottles back. I sadly had it on the sub and agree it wasn't great
I can't slag it off, it's childhood memories on the toon shirt, it's great night's out as a younger, it's something I still deeply love. That annoying sibling that you'll slap at times but unconditionally love but I'm from the North East and it was all the old school 12 hour shift hard geezas blanket after a rough week. Fair review brother and cheers but I will say when it was residing at home in the Tyne it was treasure now its just comfort if you know what I mean. From one sexy viking to another peace 🌟 💙
I like it. Nice flavor. Brown bottles in the states. Had my first one at a pizza house a few months ago and has become my daily drinker. No skunk as it's brewed in California and or Chicago. I find it very drinkable.
First beer I ever tried. My Dad used to buy himself a lone bottle from the local off license in warmer weather from time to time. It was pretty much the only beer he occasionally drank at home. I drank it myself in the 1990s and early 00s now & then - only ever from a glass bottle in bars with no decent beer, often at stockcar and banger racing events. It always had a very distinctive flavour. As somebody who ran alehouses and did a bit of commercial brewing in the early 00s, I've always seen Newky Brown as a little bit of a relic from the times when cask ale was on life support. Compared to the dreadful keg bitters of the 80s and the creamflow bitters of the 90s, it was quite flavoursome. I won't drink it even for old times sake since Heineken involved themselves. We don't need to encourage the soulless megacorps by buying the products they acquire and treat as "brands".
As someone from the region, it makes me sad how bad this beer (which is no longer brewed in the north east) is. There are some good craft alternatives brewed in the north east I would strongly recommend.
It is brewed in the North East. I have just finished a bottle and it says on the label that it is brewed in Tadcaster by Heinken who probably own the brewery there.
My grandad used to drink this as a working man, hasn’t tried it for decades because of health problems, still tells me how good it is, I can’t bring myself to tell him what Heineken did to it
This USED to be a very nice beer when it was brewed in Newcastle Upon Tyne Sadly production of this stopped in Newcastle in 2005 and it never tasted the same again. It's just a generic brand name now. a 2 out of 10 from me for this poor excuse of a beer.
It’s followed the same path as John Smiths…aka turned to shite.. as they would say oooop there. John smiths on Cask back in the early 90s was top notch too. Shame these traditional ales aren’t traditional anymore.
True Nukey was the best brew. Nothing like a ice cold Nukey on a hot cali day or cool night. Im currently trying to get a talented brewery near me to recreate the real Newkie.. It might not be possible without uk water. 🤔🤔
It was a incredible beer. My friend and i drank so much of that stuff. The new micro tasting stuff is gross. So sad they would change something that so many people liked. They could have just made it a seasonal brew like the winter ipa.
it's a refreshing drink, but I think they need to add more oomph to it! I've heard it's a bit weak these days? maybe they need to add some more bitter hops because, in my opinion, all that glucose syrup adds a weird sticky cola taste to it which I'm not fond of.
I used to love that beer. Now, I can't find it - and @SimonMartin down below hit the nail on the head. It was never the same - and, hell I can't find it anywhere. I moved onto Smithwick's.
not my favourite but i must say its the most pleasant whilst having a meal - that sweet flavour is like having a cola type beer. 3/10 wow ... thats a bit harsh bruv ... tho i totally agree theres a good beer hiding in there i think the famous saying is BOTTOMS DOWN 💪
1, you are supposed to drink it in a half pint glass, and keep topping it up a bit at a time. 2, thank god that the masses will ignore this shyte review.
Don’t be daft mate. If my opinion differs from yours let’s just accept it as that. My beer drinking isn’t defined by rules and drinking a brown ale in a half pint glass isn’t one I’ve ever heard of.
@@paulsbeerreviews just because you've never heard it does not mean it's wrong. My parents are from County Durham. I was not born in that area, but having been there many times, for obvious reasons, I've seen it with my own eyes.
