If this is true it's a disgrace. You're absolutely correct in saying we need a director of football asap. Howe and his obsession with signing average English players needs to be stopped. Our budget needs to be targeted towards signing a top-class right-sided attacker to replace murphy/miggy in the starting 11.....Howe seems intent on having another summer transfer window where he buys players for the bench instead of replacing his favourites in the starting 11.
Our two best players are foreign lads and you're telling me with hundreds of thousands of registered footballers across the world, this is the best we can do. The man is always injured. No imagination our scouting team.
It's underwhelming, but as long as it beefs up the squad it's not that bad. 3 of our signings from last summer (Tonali, Hall, Barnes) hardly played, & there's still more to come from Livramento, so our squad will be much stronger than last season before signing anybody!
Kelly’s a free no brainer but the other 2 are defo a no better to Leicester City’s Kelechi Iheanacho on a free and keep Wilson and then get a class right winger. I still don’t know what happened with Mamardashville
Since coming to Newcastle, Eddie Howe has been bad at selecting new players. We know he did not choose Guimaraes or Isak , we remembered he chose criss wood .
It’s not easy to get a no.9 to be backup to Isak without Europe. He’ll be cheap because one-year left on his deal and under Ancelotti in a decent side he was very good. He’ll be upgraded within 2 or 3 years like Wood was when we can offer a backup striker Europe and spend more money, but our priority is clearly RW and RCB so we have to save money elsewhere.
@@user-bn1dq6rb8hName me a striker for around £20m who’s happy to be no.2 and more guaranteed to score PL goals? Some young exciting prospect from abroad? That França who we tried to get from Brazil is very highly rated and he went to Palace for around £20m and hasn’t even made a start for them. Too risky doing deals like that to replace Wilson.
@@rory0949except Gordon always showed signs he was going to be good and was super young. DCL has always been shite bar one good season under Carlo in lockdown. Can’t stay fit and misses sitters
He made 32 premier league appearances last season out of 38, 6 of them as a sub. That was better than Isak and Wilson. He did not score many but lets face it Everton were mediocre at best; however I can see where some fans are coming from, always remember we were told it would be a slow ride to the top. Speculate to accumulate.
I think the negatively isn’t totally fair. Dude has been playing for an Everton side, which hasn’t been playing the most progressive football. I think I’d be happy with this signing as a back up for ISAK for also gets in behind the defenders. And in this day and age, £20mil isn’t too bad. I believe in the process. We aren’t MAN CITY and I think this is a fair signing
Karim Konate 20 goals in 29 games for RB Salzburg last season, 20 years old but isn’t British so Eddie doesn’t want him. I swear we are going nowhere under Eddie Howe.
Howe will improve DCL. Look at the deals between Chelsea, Villa, Everton and NUFC supposedly happening before 30th June. It’s all an asset swap and play to ensure FFP compliance. £20m will just be paper money as Minteh will go there for similar fee. Wait until July when proper NUFC spend starts.
I’m not overjoyed but I trust Eddie but I be disappointed if Minteh goes without looking at him just our look he be comes world class. Especially when we need a winger
Whole season we talked about not having depth. Then we try to sign someone on the cheap for some depth and it’s a disaster. With FFP it’s not necessarily about buying the best players anymore. It’s about finding the best values. I don’t rate DCL either but Howe and co. have earned more than enough trust from me so if they see it as a good value then so be it. Its not that easy to find a top level striker who’s ok with sitting on the bench most of the time so that may be part of the value here
If last season taught us anything it’s that we need players we can rely on to stay consistently fit. DCL is a good player but he won’t be available over a season any more than Wilson would be so it’s a strange one this.
I’m in the same boat…. But here is the positive spin; - his record is for a low scoring team. At Newcastle , more chances and better output - Eddie will take 6 months but will get a tune out of him - offers some physicality and aerial threat, which we don’t have. - Cheapish option and will be mostly off the bench or in cups
Absolutely shocking. Is this our level now? Big risk for Eddie and co because its underwhelming and if it doesn't work out then the fans will be all over it. Plus, what a waste of 20m! Could that not go towards someone else of higher caliber!? This is my concern with Howe bringing in the dregs of other prem teams.
Lol ... he typifies the difference between PL experience vs PL proven! His goal return has the stats of a third striker! Isak will be looking forward to those 2 assists per season!!
Not every signing is a footballing move. Does signing Chris Wood for £25M make the side better? No. But it kept us from being relegated. Stop critiquing every thought of a brush stroke and look at the painting when it's done.
Certainly not jumping off me seat like.Young forward with potential is what we need but,got to trust them .If Wilson goes in his place its a pile of bollocks as Wilson way better striker when fit obvs .They know wot thete doing 🤞
Tbh could turn out to be a massive bargain (or it could backfire spectacularly). So long as Wilson stays as well, I reckon it's worth a punt (so long as the cash goes into securing a top class RW & CB!!!) 🤞
DCL is not going to leave Everton as 1st choice striker to be 3rd choice elsewhere. He signs I think we can safely say Wilson will be away. Personally I think its a step down. Wilson when fit is far better striker imo. Eddie Howe is taking a gamble with all these links to 'proven' PL players, but also proven injury records. Come Christmas if the team is struggling and we have the usual suspects plus the new signings sitting in the treatment room, Howe will be in trouble.
Give the lad a chance, man.Been playing for a poor Everton team, who have had restrictions on them.yeah, his injury record is crap, but hopefully, thats behind him. He’s definitely a player, when fit.Playing for us,he’ll get a load of chances, unlike at Everton. We’re hampered by ffp, which is the reality.I’m sure Eddie, and the coaching will get the best out of him👍
Agreed, but it adds to our financial issue which probably guarantees the exit of Minteh (who could be the next Mane) - short-sighted and lacking ambition.
Very underwhelming. Buying a striker to compete with Isak that has an average goal rate of more or less 1 in 5 games and injury prone. Can't buy someone like Zirkzee? Who's young and 15 mil more.
As I have said elsewhere, Richest owners shopping at Poundland. I have a bad feeing with all this shit from the PL, FA, UEFA, the Saudis have had enough and are about to sell up
Abut time someone with a platform spoke the truth!! Every other channel are trying to big this deal up! If this deal goes ahead, someone NEEDS to be sacked
