Just a few things im working on and thinking about today. Lots coming up this year! Keep an eye peeled ive got a hw80 tune up , the latest in the bowkett hw77 and some more on the hw77 barrel job
You know what, I do agree with what your saying about the plastic band on the skirt I've looked at them and considered myself that as they slide along in the cylinder the atmospheric air has to move around and out of the way. Might seem like nothing but even air is probably more like the viscosity of tar when pistons are getting forced through it at speed.
Cool... super glue in the studs before you put em on the lathe .... and the rings .... just scrape out areas by hand , leaving the same amount that a stud would give you . I saw a scalpe blade on your bench.... use something like it to scrape with ! Delrin is pretty scrapable stuff ! Just take those three areas down flush with the piston surface ! That also is an option for people with existing ringed work from your shop !
good answer robert. the thing is the band tolerances are so small it will be difficult to knock a bit off them. the studs are drilled through the piston then onto the top of of the hole a larger blind hole is drilled. so its a step effect.the studs on the back of the piston are just a shy under 3mm. with the seating method used they won't come out in the gun. if they were to come out it would be when their spun on the lathe and taken down.
