The way that things are, I don't want Disney to make a movie or série for Kingdom Hearts.

I would only trust Disney with a KH show/movie if Nomura or other KH producers were heavily involved with the project.

If they make a kh anime based on the manga it would be so peak but if the do a live action adaptation its so joever 😭

I’m open to the idea but the more I think about it the more I’m worried. I’m not sure if Disney would be able to do KH justice on their own without Square Enix. However if they do make a KH movie/Tv show they definitely need to adapt already existing content. They definitely won’t be able to make anything original on their own and do it justice. At the end of the day though we’ve had countless rumors/ plans to adapt KH into a movie/Tv show and we’ve never had anything come of them so ill think about it if we ever get an official announcement.

I honestly don't know how to feel about a Kingdom Hearts 'Adaptation' made by Disney with the current state of things. I think I'm just worried they'd mess it up.

I don't even know if I want something like this right now. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see KH as a show or movie, but with the current state of the story I'd rather have them focus on the games. The reason I say this, is because a KH show made by exclusively Disney *SHOULD NOT HAPPEN* . Nomura needs to be envolved and I think it should be more than just a retelling of the story.(Not that I would be against a retelling) But holy shit, the Deja vu with this one is strong. Like you've said, we've been here before.

A Kingdom Hearts adaptation would only work if Disney isn't the one in charge of the script/plot. If they change it to increase it's ESG score, then I'd rather it didn't exist. It also needs to be a Disney/Final Fantasy crossover and not just Disney again.

Pretty sure Disney has said time and again, they won't do KH stuff without Nomura. That said, it is a collaboration so you better believe Disney oversees a lot of the plots in the Disney worlds and such. No need for doubt and worry right now.

I just don't think it would work well as a movie. TV show? Yeah, I can see that working. It depends on how many episodes in the first season would have. The obvious ending point would be the games endings.

It's now that I realize that I was more in love with the idea of a TV or Movie adaptation. TBH I'm scared they'll mess it up.

I’ve been wanting them to make a KH show for years! I always thought it’d be a good idea if it was adapted to an anime esque style and followed along with specifically what happens in the manga since I feel the manga adaptation is so AWESOME! But idk if they’d go that route which is sad tbh. I’m a little more skeptical about it being made into a film just cuz I feel like there’s WAY to much to shove into an hour and 45 minutes tbh but idk I guess all we can do is wait and see and hope they don’t mess it up

I hope it's 2d, and a lot of care and consideration is put into this. Like what parts of the games and story are they gonna adapt, whether its a TV series with 12 eps or 24, and how they'll adapt the story into a different format

I really hope the adaptation is an anime Disney has their hands in anime rn that'd be perfect plus i always liked the japanese voices aswell as the english dubbed games would be really cool. Also hoping for added content.

I don't doubt that they are trying, but they really seem to not understand how to adapt this. I think they want KH to be its "Wish" in terms of celebrating Disney, but doing that in a non-interactive formula is tricky. And also sidesteps what made KH such an enduring franchise: the fact that Sora isn't just some self-insert at Disney world. He has his own conflicts, troubles, worries, dreams, and balancing that with the inevitable Disney cameos is hard even in the games. Still, always hope for the best. I also work in media and never want all that talent and work to go to waste.

I would think Kingdom Hearts does fit for an series. Not like most disney plus series (Some are good some are not) but like literally being like Disney´s first Anime series (I think it would be first) and the adaptation could also be a way to introduce some new people to Kingdom Hearts as well :)

It'd be cool if they made a show or movie series that followed 1, CoM, 2 and maybe 3, but more focused on the original worlds and stuff rather than Disney and Final Fantasy IPs

I wonder how you could do a Kingdom Hearts 1 adaptation in under 2 hours while still putting in enough disney representation. We're not gonna have time to visit a lot of worlds.

I would love to see a show that is just based on Sora, Riku, and Kairi when they were little kids, all of their adventures on the islands. With those drawings in the secret cave, you wonder what kind of "pretend" games they played (I put in quotes, because nothing is ever really "pretend" in this series). Maybe we'd get a callback of a scene where Sora is telling the kids that Sandy Claws didn't exist, thus putting him on the naughty list! It would be a show that would give us content that we haven't ever gotten before, it would be an adorable show for Disney without really any kind of violence (because surely there wouldn't be violence in a show with 5 year olds as the cast), and it wouldn't be a show that could really interfere with the main game canon, it could still satisfy KH fans without complicating the story. I think the X saga also getting a series would be incredible, but I personally don't believe it would actually happen, as it's not the more popular era of the series, not like the main KH series, specifically with Sora. I think the most likely would be something with Sora, specifically KH1 Sora as that's the original, but I personally think my idea of the younger era of the main three would work very well and suit being a Disney cartoon while still having that KH magic and wonder- and just imagine little versions of Tidus, Wakka, and Selphie too ;W;

And absolutely zero people in the world are surprised. I was saying back when Kingdom Hearts II came out that they would do a movie or TV show at some point. This is literally something that every KH fan should have expected at some point. Now I personally think a TV series would work better, because I don't know how you get all of the Disney and Square-Enix characters enough screentime with just a movie.

I hope we get an anime because a movie would just be an hour and a half but an anime there are so many possibilities

Disney just have to make a partnership with a anime studio like Wit Studio or Studio Orange if they want to go full CG animation, and let them adapt the Mangas and the Light Novels adaptations of all Kingdom Hearts games

Hopefully a KH anime, like the world ends with you, after kingdom hearts 1 the lore gets too thick for it to be correctly covered in movie format

After seeing the pilot for the canceled Kingdom Hearts show by Seth Kearsley, I think a Kingdom Hearts show or movie without Squareenix's involvement has the potential to be good. As long as it's a different canon.

We need kh4 to have Sora as a cute mouse form for a Rescuers down under world that takes places after the 2nd movie and sora should be a cute mouse in the Great Mouse Detective world that either takes place during the events or after the events of the movie and we need sora as a cat in an Oliver and company world that takes place after the events of the original film

I just don't see how an adaptation could work, and ever since I was a kid, I NEVER understood the hype for it within the community. Like, what would they even do? Just retell KH1 and the other games with each episode being a different world? I mean, okay, but if I'm being honest, that doesn't sound that fun in TV form. A big part of the KH series' charm is its gameplay-without it, a lot of the Disney world stories are pretty hollowed out husks of the movie plots (except in KH1 where they were handled better, but still not great) with Sora, Donald, and Goofy randomly inserted into them. I don't think they would tell an original story either, since Nomura and Square Enix wouldn't be directly involved. Idk. I just never understood the idea of adapting KH into a TV series/movie. I think it works perfectly as a game, and translating it to any other medium would take away so much of what makes the series enjoyable.

If disney screws this up we should band together and send the responsibles for it into the realm of darkness

I think Kingdom Hearts should be a tv show instead of a movie. They have too much story to tell from the franchise in the movie.

If they give us more informative and it turns out Nomura isnt apart of it then thats a big sign that current fans will not enjoy this. Dont get to excited and keep your expectations lows. Disney has failed time and time again and KH will be the next thing they fumble, then they will blame the brand and its fans and the failure of the movie or show will cause Disney to take it out on the game.

I would rather an animated series than a movie. I do not see the benefit to adapting any of the games into a movie. Kingdom Hearts just lends itself better to a series where they can visit a new Disney world each episode.

Ok, normally I get suspicious about these kinds of adaptations. But Kingdom Hearts is super bad at story telling anyways. I play it for the combat, and I can't see Disney making the story any worse, harder to follow or more poorly acted out than it already is.
