Newsboys Take Me To Your Leader tour 1997 

As an almost 11-year-old I got to help set up drums and hauling in speakers at a venue. Back in the day got to eat lunch with Phil Joel and Duncan. Hung out in the auditorium and got acquainted with the startup band with a singer Mac Powel 😂. This was back in the day when they needed a guaranteed amount of volunteers volunteered in with the local Christian radio station sponsors to pull off set and tear down. I was at the venue from 8:00 a.m. till 2am next day. Steve Campbell, NB manager, gave me a VHS copy of Not Ashamed. Almost 24 years later I was able to thank him for it at a meet N greet.

BroooOoOooo...I MISS this kinda pseudo-alternative rock era of NewsBoys! Before everything HAD to be worship themed or for the congregation. In my opinion, it's become so cookie cutter now lol. To me, this was so raw and relatable. Their lyrics, talking about depression, forgiveness, passing away, etc....I miss it, I really do. This was a blast from the past.

I'm 41 and finally getting to see some video footage of the tour I always wanted to see as a teen

saw this tour live as a teenager. coolest band intro i ever saw. the 3 circle trusss lowered like flying saucers with the band members on top. and after they went to their instruments the truss rotated vertically to reveal that they were circle screens. at the time, that blew my mind. wish there was a video of the full concert somewhere.

This is awesome, would LOVE to see full songs from this tour. Not enough footage of the real Newsboys on here. When people ask if my favorite Newsboys singer is Peter Furler or Mike Tait, I say John James LOL

Brings back memories except when I saw them the descended from the ceiling wearing the astronaut gear and then broke out into not ashamed. Being my first concert and I was right by the wall of speakers I was in pure heaven. We thought lost the plot was the last song so we thought we'd need to beat traffic so we left and I missed most of it... bummer. The best concert for my first. Plankeye was freakin awesome too until Eric's guitar broke and Scott gave him his to finish so we didn't have rhythm guitar for the rest of their set. I wasn't too into Geoff Moores set. Love their songs but was weird like he was high the whole time. They did however sign autographs like stars afterwards. I only wanted Plankeyes so I did that instead. To get Newsboys you had to go to another venue across town. Lame. My friend got John's tho. He found him wandering around pretending to be a janitor. Overall A+++

I love seeing these old videos of the REAL Newsboys. But, man, whoever thought this business with the camera constantly zooming in and out and not staying on any one thing for more than a half-second was "art"? It's just annoying. It'd be a lot more fun to go back in time and film it again like you're watching the concert, with plenty of close-ups where you could see the band members actually performing. I know, I know, I'm just being old and grouchy. But I missed out on getting to go to those concerts and would love to have a chance to see what they were like without all the MTV-style camera nonsense. (I loved their Actual Music Videos from back in the day, BTW, thought they were really clever. Even loved Down Under the Big Top, as cheesy as it was. Just not this kind of concert camera style.)
