She never bit me. I knew all the time thou, that she could if she wanted to. She could have really hurt me :( One time I had a ring on my finger and she bit it in two!!! But she was so gentle when she touched my skin :)
Hysterical, she was grooming you until you began her face massage. Then she stops & enjoys. Looked like she was in heaven. Sweet little Newton. TY for video..
Squirrels are as adorable as they are fierce! With those sickle claws and razor-sharp incisors, cats would have no chance against squirrels if they were both the same size.
JanetFunkYeah Cats still tread carefully around squirrels. If a squirrel gets a good chomp on the cat, the cat is gonna have second thoughts about doing it again.
What I did best for Newton was to pray and she gave me 4 wonderful years. Good luck with Squeak. You must be a very special person to get to care for a special creature lk him
Grooming you and showing you love. Wonderful video that demonstrates the deep feelings of squirrels. You use the past tense, "Newton liked to groom me." Does that mean Newton is no longer with you?
I love Squirrels! now about 5 years ago, they use to eat my Tomatoes and one even left one, half eaten on my truck..lol. Suddenly they stopped. Alot of times they will sit on, one of my porch grills and just look thru my window, as I sit would sit on my couch...lol. Great animals and nice video.
I love how Newton looks into the camera at the beginning of the video. "Hi hooman, would you like a manicure?" I'm sorry she ran off. The bond you had with her is an amazing thing. Not a lot of people will know how intelligent and caring animals can be.
I miss my squirrel so much, I had saved him and brought him to a rehabber just to make sure everything was good. Well she ended up giving him to another shelter even further from where I live without even giving me a warning. Just texted me randomly and said hes with someone else and I will not be able to see him again. I already turned the rehabber in for falsely claiming she is certified, which she is NOT. I adored that squirrel and he saw me as his mother, and would always be grooming me and trying to play.
Aw, just like my rats from so long ago. I remember I'd bloodied one of my knuckles and it had dried. My rats immediately recognized this and gingerly tended to it.
That will be the best. I've heard that if you live close to trees where they can go to, they will always come back and visit you. That would be the best scenario. I do live in a place w 5 acres but I also have noisy dogs that bark every tine I let them out. They never bother Newton when she was in the house but they chase everything away from it.
MY SON SAVED INDIAN PALM SQUIRREL AND TOOK CARE OF IT VERY WELL.NOW SHE HAS HER OWN NEST OUTSIDE OUR HOUSE .BUT EVERYDAY SHE COMES TO VISIT US AND PLAYS WITH MY SON.THAT IS SO ADORING.
Hi! Thank you so much for responding! I have been giving him Esbilac puppy formula. He's doing really good. I feed him every 4 hrs since he's a bit older. He's doing really well. He's will be opening soon. I'm so excited. I do plan on releasing him. I have been reading, looking at videos, and researching on how to release. For now, I want to take care of him as best as I can so he's well prepared to go out into the wild.
Lol this is probably the trippyiest video I've ever seen. Those camera angles and constant motion just makes my brain go WTF is going on right now! Definitely a super cool video.
Hehe,...I guess I'm doing it all wrong. I have about a dozen gray squirrels in the yard in Upstate New York, and put a full pound of unsalted peanuts out EACH DAY! ($2.50 a day cost for peanuts, plus fill the bird feeder with seed for about $1 more). Most of the squirrels come up to me to about 3-5 feet away, but I haven't tried to sit down and tame one or two. Always felt I'd be taking away a family member from their group. :-) ....it'd never be cheaper for me though with a house pet (and funds are always tight as they are for most folks). The winter's here again and they, and the 5 or six blue jays, cardinals, and dozens of other birds are spoiled rotten. I wouldn't have it any other way! :-) Joe T Ti Rod Tactical
