Newton's Second Law of Motion, also known as the Law of Acceleration, is one of the three fundamental laws of classical mechanics formulated by Sir Isaac Newton in the late 17th century. This law describes the relationship between the force applied to an object, its mass, and the resulting acceleration it experiences. It can be mathematically expressed as follows:
F. = dp/dt. When mass is constant, the equation becomes: F = m a
Where:
F is the net force acting on the object (measured in Newtons, N),
m is the mass of the object (measured in kilograms, kg),
a is the acceleration of the object (measured in meters per second squared, m/s²).
In simpler terms, Newton's Second Law states that the acceleration of an object is directly proportional to the net force applied to it and inversely proportional to its mass. This means that if you apply a greater force to an object, it will accelerate more, and if the mass of the object is larger, it will require more force to achieve the same acceleration.
This law has numerous real-world applications and is fundamental in understanding how objects move under the influence of forces. It is essential in the fields of physics, engineering, and many other scientific disciplines that deal with motion and dynamics. Let's see how we can apply Newton's 2nd law of motion to the Chandrayaan 3 Launch.
At Manocha Academy, learning Science and Math is Easy! The school coursework is explained with simple examples that you experience every day! Yes, Science & Math is all around you! Let's learn every day from everyday life!

Less mass means less inertia so that means if the same force is applied on two bodies of different masses , the lighter one will move faster. Now let’s say body A being the lighter one gained velocity of 20m/s and body B being the heavier one gained half its velocity I.e 10 m/s now, if we substitute these values in the formula for momentum we find that both of them have same momentum. But generally speaking heavier bodies have larger momentum.

For the rocket propulsion case,F=v(dm/dt) is applicable.. Both the balls will have same momentum since force and time is same for two balls and force is rate of change of momentum.. Ball with mass 1 kg will gain more velocity as for same momentum, velocity is inversely proportional to mass.

1st will have more velocity ... For momentum because the magnitude of force is same on both ball , with different masses, that cause the conservation of momentum ... Boht velocity and mass balanced each other in each...

@harjassingh1385
@harjassingh1385 11 месяцев назад
Both will have same momentum since ball 2 has more mass but less velocity so if same force is applied then the f=dp/dt=(p2-p1)/(t2-t1) now initial P1 momentum is zero as ball was at rest (consider) and t2-t1 is simply time t taken since t1 was 0(initial time) so f=P2/t for both balls now since f,t are same for both balls then P2=ft will be momentum for both balls but mass and velocity would be different, so ball 1 p =ball 2 p i.e. p¹=p² so m¹v¹=m²v² now putting value for m¹ and m² (mass of 1 and 2 ball as given in the question) 1v¹=2v² so v¹=2v² now see mass of ball 2 is 2(mass of ball 1) but velocity of ball 1 is 2 times the velocity of ball 2 so this causes balance in momentum as one has double mass and another double velocity so this causes equal momentum, please correct me if I'm wrong somewhere

The velocity of the first body will be more bcz equal forces are applied in equal amount of time so the momentum is equal but that does not mean that the two bodies will have the same velocity as momentum only says that its the "motion of a body" and velocity is inversly proportional to mass of the body so obviously the velocity of the first body will be more.......just trying to clear my confusion with so much of typing 😅 let me know if im wrong pls !
