After posting conspiracy theories about the Parkland school shootings to his Facebook page, Newton Mayor Wayne Levante was asked to resign by the town council.
In my experience working in purchases for higher education institutions, it was picked out because 1. the square pattern means they can be cut out and removed easily if there's damage and the 2. the "vomit" color is intentional, if someone gets spilled it fades in to the background much easier.
This man is so far up his own backside that he should be removed from office AND prevented from ever holding office again, his personal views are just that, personal, and should remain private, but as an elected official he isn’t there to follow his own opinions or beliefs he is there to represent the collective opinions and beliefs of the community and whatever his thoughts are, as soon as he put them on social media, they become public interest and a conflict of interests. Unfortunately the video doesn’t go on to show the outcome of the issue but I hope he was forced to resign and learn a very valuable lesson, a lesson all elected officials should remember, YOU SERVE AT THE WILL OF THE PEOPLE, and those who put you in a position of trust and authority can just as soon remove you from that position.
Really, is that the standard now? So in every American municipality of any size, if a female of high school aged appearance is upset about something, the "guy" should lose his position as mayor? Wow, that's absolutely enlightening logic there. Thanks for your contribution!
I been watching quite a few of these US town and 'city' council vids on here this morning and surprised at how small the councils are considering the size of the places they represent... compared to the size of town and parish councils in the UK that represent much smaller wards. No wonder there seems to be so much fractious behaviour from the US Councils/boards/trusts in the US
town and parish councils in the UK are mostly unpaid and i think in the us there spit up in to boards like school and waste and are all paid so just look smaller
The split between the comments shows how people can be swayed by a powerful and or strong stance on a topic regardless of facts because they vote and are swayed by gut feelings rather than actual facts that come from research and critical thinking.
Another out of control mayor. THis is so tiresome. If you would educate yourself on what things can and can not be done by elected officials before you run then you won't become so frustrated.
I dont really see how he's being out of control here (besides the screaming in a silent room). The man has the right to voice his opinion regardless how erroneous they are. If the "people" think he's too dumb for office, he will be voted out in the re-election. Nothing new here.
@@hamschh Sometimes, its a too long wait until election. If there are rules in place they can throw his ass out - fine. If they forgot to make such rules, they pay the consequense and will have to keep him on for a while. Simply follow logic and the rules.
@@avae5343 not to mention that humans simply like to remain uninformed or wrap themselves with like thinking people. As far back as when I was in high school, people started skipping over words that they didn't know the definition because it was "too much trouble". Now grown and stupid; look at how we act and hold no politicians accountable for anything. guess we get what we allow to pass the gate.
@@avae5343 Humans always take the easy way. So don't educate yourself, eat more, eat crap, don't exercise, don't stand up for what YOU believe...the easy way. If this were not so then we would have a world of inventors and discoverers. One last thing, altruism does not reside in humans.
I used to live near Newton back in the '70s. It was a sleepy little town where nothing much happened; in fact, Sussex County itself was so rural and low-key that Newton, with probably 5,000 or so people, was called "the city"; if you said "I'm going to the city", people knew you were going to Newton. Everybody knew everybody, everybody got along, Wow. I couldn't have even IMAGINED anything like this happening back then. I realize that things change over the yeas, but I never would have seen something like this coming. Sad..
, the difference is that one was fired by a private business that does not have to abide by the First Amendment protections whereas the politicians are protected under the First Amendment because they work for the government. See the difference?
This has nothing to do with partisan politics though conservatives always want to make it about that. He posted a conspiracy theory saying that a school shooting that happened in his city was a hoax. Of course, the parents and friends and neighbors of anyone affected by that tragedy would be understandably upset by this.
@@killersushi99 Well, I am with the right wing and the Mayor is a moron. I shall also add please leave our pollical party, the conservatives 'party' and shut you yap, because guys like you make it hard for us to win elections and govern.
When you are a Mayor , your job is to take care of your town by fixing its problems , not go on a witch hunt about unrelated issues on social medias . Good riddance .
So, you can’t chew gum and walk at the same time? Are you suggesting posting on social media means one cannot full full their job reaponibilities? Or, are just a programmed sheep blind to the fact their were a lot of mass shot rings during obama admin, there was a fouR year lull and now they’re back. Sheep.
@@yesterdaysmiddle4637 I was saying what i said . Stop deforming something quite simple in the vain hope to make me sound as stupid as you . That mayor was paid to represent the PEOPLE both inside and outside the office , not to act like some Alex Jones NPC . Advice time : stop acting like you represent the Enlightened Ones while speaking like a flat earther , go back to fixing your life .
Idk about this case, but the fake news Trump talks about is very real. There are a plethora of videos showing how the media spins, lies and twists things around to fit the narrative they've chosen.
Mayor parrots buzzwords like fake news. High school girl parrots buzzwords like debunked and conspiracy. Let's erroneously side with the high school girl.
I'd love to know what the "Conspiracy Theory" that was "quickly debunked" was. This guy was probably Railroaded for being honest for all I know. Would like the details.
Freedom of speech is not unlimited. Nor is freedom of the press. If a government employee begins to make statements that are not true that is not covered by the constitution.
Corrrct .i always was told opinions are not a matter of rite or wrong .its an opinionwe have the rite to have opinions .if you disagree with someones it dosent give you the rite to stop others from voicing there opinion.
@@tommywood2135 making a statement on a subject that has a lot of grey area and continues to under dispute, and a politician blatantly lying to persuade public opinion on a legal matter are two completely different subjects. Making a social media post about the Newtown shooting falls into the former, while say, the secretary of state lying to Congress about a video being the cause of outrage that led to a foreign diplomats death falls into the latter. See the difference?
Some opinions have way more value when the one expressing it is educated and just plain smarter and / or wiser then coming from another. Dumb opinions made on a widespread social media entity can become dangerous in dumbing the public even more down then it already is. You can uphold nice principles like freedom of speech and apply it on everything that is said but the good of that principle will become in reality (important word and meaning!) a negative one. To not have freedom of speech however it gives the corrupted among us the ability to censor and normally it does not stop at that. Sooooo...its all good and its all bad. End of an opinion that should be more of value to you then you might think. No arrogance intended.
@@morganearp2265 I find nothing insulting about the comment at all. This man was an elected official who represented his constituents and publicly denounced a school shooting of innocent children. His demeanor at this meeting was anything less than respectable and healing. For the woman in the audience to defend him by claiming he had constitutional rights at this moment was a shameful demeaning of the innocent lives lost. The very fact he is shouting his stance like a madman and then self-righteously refusing to continue with the meeting was quite telling. "Free Speech" was not a defense; it was an excuse.
@rain Alaska CNN has NEVER claimed that Trump is a KKK member. And some people do have a very good idea what real news and actual facts are. These are people with critical thinking skills, and enough common sense to know that feminism and gay atheists are not what wrong with this country right now.
@@AlabasterSkin you clearly do not know which you speak of. Biases can be hard to spot, especially when they are your own. You are spreading false facts, as well. See the hypocrisy of what you are doing?
Freedom of speech not freedom from consequences. Common sense seems to alude most people before they share opinions not rooted in fact on public platforms for, in this case, their constituents to see.
@@99sporttruck Me? No, I wouldn't say I'm deranged. It's just when I hear people in public positions parrot that language, I'm like, oh. You're speaking to your own "special" audience. Not to all of your constituents. Got it. And there goes their credibility. Using "TDS" when someone points out a poor argument is another one of those moments.

@@ylekiote99999 On April 27, 1961, President John F. Google it, watch it, and please let me know what you think.
@@danielsmith4474 I did you the courtesy of listening to the JFK speech. @@acolyteoffire4077 First of all, what I stated was more of a joke than a real comment I believed in. Second, if you think privilege does not exist you are sadly mistaken. If you are a straight rich white male, what are your odds of being bullied in school compared to a gay scrawny Asian kid? What are the odds of you being let off the hook for a crime you committed coming from a rich white family versus a poor black family who lives in the shitty ghetto part of town. Whether you like it or not, people treat others differently based on who they are, what they look like, and even how much money they have. Not just in schools or the justice system, but in every aspect of life. People are biased and that's a fact, and that bias gives certain people more "privilege" than others. Cops are inclined to believe adults than children, but why? Because cops are biased and believe adults are the more responsible people, so why would adults lie? Cheat? Hurt? Your appearance, age, wealth, race, abilities, all play a factor in how people treat you. And that treatment can be a privilege or a burden. In the case of a white straight man you're more likely to be treated fairly and nicely than most other minorities. So don't tell me this kind of privilege doesn't exist. It does, and it's people that choose to ignore these differences that allow this country, and this world, to fall into the steep hole of bigotry, inequality, unjustly, rigorous systems we have today.
@@joshevans7029 and it is people who allow all that to hold them back that aid in others thinking it exists, prove people wrong, and I promise you the supposed privilege that you speek of will be evened out. people who just complain about it instead of doing something about it are just as guilty. they may not have the status of being privileged, but still put people who have more above themselves.
@@acolyteoffire4077 And then you throw out everything I said. Instead of countering it, you just attack the idea itself going back to your previous comment about how I just think it exists, without proving me wrong.
