How do people always give credit to RTD for Moffats episodes? Aside from the fact that half the top rated episodes are Moffats episodes in his own era - even RTD says he doesn’t modify them, just had a year to do one instead of a year to do 7 and showrun and script edit.

@@redfieldblair Sure, the Moff is writing this episode solely, but it's still a part of RTD's era. I'd have said exactly the same thing if Steven was showrunner and Russell was writing an episode for him. That's why I used both their names. Not to say one is better than the other, just because it's a good feeling knowing two top tier writers are responsible for a new episode of Doctor Who :)

Uh oh…the last time the Doctor accidentally stepped on a land mine was the 4th Doctor during the Sontaran Experiment, and it took some quick thinking on Harry Sullivan’s part to keep it from exploding long enough for the Doctor to safely remove his foot. Actually it was Genesis of the Daleks, I misremembered.

This one seems like. Futuristic I think could be a dalek episode probs won’t ve but it’s two things the dr on a mine all ep which sounds interesting as rubys 2nd adventure or there’s a big reveal/classic villain im it i said i think slightly could be a dalek ep with the paradigm as Moffat never got to kill them off ans it be about them creating the new daleks so baso it’s a sequel to victory of the daleks wrapping up the storyline

Its a small detail but I do like that they brought the next time trailers back. Getting a short preview of the next episode was one of the things that was missing from the Chibnail era. You don't know what you were missing until it was gone

I never expected these episodes to be the best or blow me away. Mostly looking at RTD previous series, with the better episodes coming later in the series, so it’s personally too early for me to judge the series now in my opinion. It be like judging Series 3 with only the first few episodes out and calling the series bad, when Series 3 has some greatest episodes ever in the later half. But this my mindset right now, and I feel like it’s too early to call the Series Bad or Great. This just my opinion tho. But right now I’m giving Space Babies 5/10, and The Devil’s Chord a 6/10

We have had two episodes out of 8. That's a quarter gone already. And it ended with a musical number and a look to camera. This is not Doctor Who anymore. This is disneyfied crap. I didn't enjoy last night's episodes at all. They were immature and stupid. Maestro could have been a good character the actor was good. Ncuti has good potential but again rubbish scripts and story lines. Rtd wants to call this series 1 but why when he is soaking everything in stuff from the past. Meh he needs to retire and hand the baton onto someone who isn't a Doctor Who fan and can bring new life

Which is fine if you don’t but I really like musicals myself. I understand your point with Doctor Who never having been a musical but I still think it’s fair for Doctor Who to try something new right? SPACE BABIES: ✅Pros: Fun concept, a decent warm-up episode, great reference to Martha Jones with the butterfly, and plenty of interesting questions. ❓Odds: I saw that fart from a mile away... And from talking babies to booger monsters, I'm not sure how Ruby recovered that easily. Also, I'm pretty sure the butterfly thing would not cause that ripple effect when you consider biology, but then again, there are still some indirect ripple effects. ❌Cons: They saved the Bogeyman, but... is there a solution for him? Also, I'm pretty sure the Doctor would be sucked out into outer space. THE DEVIL'S CHORD: ✅Pros: Great suspense, interesting historical and villain, points for style and frights as well as addressing problems with time travel, Susan and other stuff. ❓Odds: If this is 1963, let's hope Susan wasn't dancing to 60's tunes when this happened... also, didn't Maestro's work affect the 1920's and onwards? ❌Cons: The whole final chord thing felt like a bit of a strange solution to me without context... but I loved the twist with the Beatles solving it by musical skill. And welcome back to the Who club, Steven! Thank you for writing one more for us! P.S: And please, for the love of Rassilon, change season 1 to something understandable for fans. Season 1 is for Classic Who.

Disney insisted it had to be called Season 1. They said no one would watch it if it was called Season 15 because they’d figure there was too much to catch up on (robbing them of many happy hours binging, imo).

@@schoolingdiana9086 And they can keep calling it season 1, but the problem is: they can't call it season 1 like this. At this point, they need to redo the way they do the marketing of the previous seasons or the entire series. Technically, they currently name the classics "Doctor Who (1963-1996)" and the modern series "Doctor Who (2005-2022)". The new one is "Doctor Who (2024-present)" or simply Doctor Who (like those typical reboot naming conventions). But nobody will want to call it by year if we keep rebooting like this, just like with the movies and games. Fans have discussed this topic for years before it actually happened. A possible idea would be to address seasons by Doctor at this point (but Disney will probably discard the idea). Another possibility is to call the show by a suggestive template title like "Pre Time War" and "Post Time War", or "The Original Saga" and "The Warrior Saga" though that could be somewhat tricky to tackle for future showrunners depending on their visions for the IP. But no matter what, it simply can't be season 1 by current standards, it's just too much hassle for fans in the long run. If they want to keep the default name they need to change the older stuff.

I've always thought the Doctor is affected by time paradoxes and that's why they seem to have trouble with memory and story continuity. That history is fluid for them.

@@jaxr2958 That's true, though not every paradox in Doctor Who makes people forget entirely, otherwise many characters would forget the Doctor too (usually the travellers are alright unless there's something really big). Also, not every action in a paradox gets backtracked every single time (depending on the circumstances). But it's possible that Maestro is a paradox by itself and all that happened was fixed when Maestro was defeated since they act outside of time. I put it as an odd element because they were defeated in 1963 but their work spans back decades, so locking it in '63 wouldn't necessarily change all the events that happened in the 1920's, which nudged history from that point. But weird paradoxes like these usually cancel themselves out.

I have to admit yes sometimes it’s cheesy or cringy but damn I really loved these first episodes the mystery the excitement and that was In the first 5 minutes of the first episode 😂😂 this is what people have been wanting back in doctor who so I hope people are enjoying it being able to come up with big therories again don’t get me wrong I will watch doctor who even if they have a CGI cat or dog face but it’s good to have RTD back and such a uplift doctor who can be serious when it needs to be and cheery the rest not feeling the baggage of his last

Very likely. I’m guessing that there will be flashbacks etc Maybe the mine actually goes off, but the Doctor still finds a way to survive it Perhaps like the Sherlock episode where he got shot, and that split second lasts for ages inside his ‘mind palace’

He introduced us to the weeping angels He gave us Matt Smith and Peter Capaldi which I love and respect. He also explained us the time war and filled the gap between Paul McGann and Christopher Eccleston, with the War Doctor portrayed by John Hurt.

Not every episode is gonna be a masterpiece yknow. your expectations are blinded by his greatest achievements and are ignorant to his failed stories. First episode was not good but showed how much of a character Ruby is - already showing intuition, personality, and not just being a yes-man to the Doctor - extending off of the christmas episode. meanwhile episode 2 was great, its fresh and unique, which is what Doctor Who is about.

Okay the first two episodes were alright but this next one is gonna be another Moffat all timer I can feel it. His stories are always so creative and he knows how to pack an emotional punch.
