I think taking down the leakers is a good idea because Nintendo loves hype, and they did this because they want people to get surprised at every future Nintendo Direct!

"Strange to go through another Nintendo Direct and not know about Switch 2." Literally in 2016 Nintendo had a 3DS focused Direct a month before the Switch unveil. So uh yeah that kinda disproves that.

When it comes out, I seriously doubt it will be called Switch 2, because I’m pretty sure Nintendo doesn’t want another Wii U or 3DS situation

We do know that Metroid Prime 4 is (at least) a Switch game. The Switch logo was in the announcement and they said “coming to Nintendo Switch” on Twitter.

The thing is the switch 2 wouldn’t destroy hype on the switch one games unless they where pretty much the same thing like a new Mario and Luigi game

I think there will be a switch 2 trailer in mid-late november similar to the switch 1 trailer where people are casually playing unannounced games coming to the new console, and then in January or February there will be a big direct showing games for the new console. The new console I think would release in March/April with the launch title being Metroid Prime 4, A new party game that showcases the Switch 2's features and the rumoured Breath of the Wild remaster.

6:32 Mario Odyssey only got revealed in October 2016, there would no reason for them to announce a new 3D Mario in the next 2 months, if it were to release in October next year

An other direct in September just makes no send it would make send to spend time on the switch to and announce 1 or 2 games in September and then spend the February announcing switch two games for more hype for the next gen console

Do we think the next 3D Mario game will be showcased with the next console? It would make the most sense as the biggest launch title.

I’m not criticizing, but I don’t understand why everyone is thinking we won’t have another final switch only direct in September. And that the switch 2 reveal is your next.

What Nintendo should do is to make the Switch 2 be able to play not only the original switch games but also some games from the Wii U, because thinking about the original switch, you can can make friends on your Wii U to your switch. That would be something to remember the nostalgia from the Wii U.

For me, the reveal can happen on August, since they suspiciously have a lack of 1st party games for that month If it's correct, then the showcase can be expected to be arround December, because yet again there's no 1st party games for that other month

Could Prime 4 be cross-gen? Yes. But that does not mean that the footage shown was running on it. It was 100% not. Why? Because if you watch the upload of just the trailer for it, it starts with the iconic Switch intro. If that was running on NS 2, and they were advertising it as a regular NS game, that would be false advertising, and Nintendo would get in trouble.

The most likely possibility is that we don’t get a September direct. The only way they have enough announcements for one is if they reveal switch 2 WAY before it makes business sense to do so

There will never be a switch 2 or switch pro. Nintendo doesn’t name consoles the same way PlayStation does, Nintendo actually has creativity with names.

Whatever this successor to the Switch is called, I’m so hyped for it. That, and this isn’t a rumor or leak, but I bet that they’ll reveal the console around August before the Nintendo Direct in September.

Most of the time, Nintendo does not reveal their big games more than a year out. The few examples the last two Zelda's Metroid prime 4. It wasn't intended for it to go that long before they were released and all three of this as well as I'm sure any other the game was delayed. Most of the time they don't want you waiting on a game for more than a year

I doubt there will be a Switch 2 reveal, especially since there are certain games for NSO's branches of game systems like Diddy Kong Racing, Super Smash Bros., Donkey Kong 64, Banjo-Tooie, and even Mickey's Speedway USA for the N64 branch. Speaking of DK, while we are getting a port of Donkey Kong Country Returns in 2025, that doesn't mean there will not be an original unique Donkey Kong game coming to the Switch, because DKCRHD could be the greenlight needed for the original unique DK game on the Switch. Now some may argue that it won't happen at all, but the same was originally said for Metroid Prime 4 just because of Metroid Prime HD arriving to the Switch, but Summer arrived and despite Metroid Prime HD being released last year, the fans are rejoiced to see that Metroid Prime 4 is coming to the Switch after all. So if that happened for the Metroid fans, then the same can be said for the Donkey Kong fans.

Your whole point is based on the fact that switch 2 is for the beginning of next year, but what if Nintendo is aiming for a holiday 2025 release? They said they are going to announce the switch 2 until the end of fiscal 2024 so like beginning of 2025 is more than enough for presenting a console that will release on the end of 2025. Sadly I think switch 2 is only for end of 2025 to beginning of 2026

Concerning the September Direct: Maybe Metroid Prime 2 Echoes Remastered, a Nintendo Switch Online update, and more information on what's already been announced is enough! And let's not forget that third-party surprises are to be expected as well, plus we can't rule out a smaller first-party announcement or two. My point is, Nintendo doesn't need to top June 2024 in order to justify holding another Direct, a smaller one ain't unprecedented. Next Switch: CES 2025.

Just to note I'm commenting before I start watching. Personally for the switch two I want stick drift solved, maybe with magnetic toggle controls. Second Ive been thinking of an idea for homescreen, as soon as you turn the console on, it shows each account and you need a password to get into each one, I have no problems with the profile picture customization, but instead of the background just being black or white maybe graphic designs with popular characters and games. And possibly just change the home screen set up ( just my opinion) What do y'all think?

I think if they waited until after holiday 2024 to announce and release it, they will have a bunch of unhappy customers on their hands. If they announce it before holiday 2024 and dont release, it will hurt holiday sales. It only makes sense to me they announce and release it before holiday 2024, or push it all the way to mid-late 2025 to release. Im hoping it’s announced and released for this holiday season.

It’s going to be awhile I read that Nintendo will keep supporting the switch until the end of the financial year which will be in March so I’m guessing in January or February we will definitely see the games coming to the console but yeah in March they are done with the original switch

i would rather nintendo push the system back for a longer period of time to make sure no backwards compatibility and all digitial if possible. wouldn't they want their original system and games to still sell but not overshadow their newer console. plus the newer system should defintely cost more than the original which gives stores and customers a reason to choose which to buy, plus each will have their own games.

Here’s what I think should happen in September: another Super Mario Bros Wonder direct! But, instead of Mario, the star character should be Donkey Kong! Here’s why: remember when I talked A LOT about hypothetical yet potential DLCs for Mario Wonder in the past? I apologize for that, I honestly admit I exaggerated with that idea while having it in mind. However, now that the latest Nintendo Direct has launched, I think this idea really CAN happen! As we all know, one of the announcements from the direct was the HD remake for Donkey Kong Country Returns coming in the beginning of next year, which kinda stinks. It’s been YEARS since we’ve gotten an original DK game, but I think- later this year, we just might get one (sort of)! Think about DKC Tropical Freeze- the original Wii U version for a second and do the math; DK was having a birthday party in the opening cutscene. Why? Because it was 2014, and the first DKC game came out in 1994, so it was his 20th anniversary. We’re now in 2024, which means the Donkey Kong Country series is officially 30 years old. So we should celebrate his 30th anniversary by getting a brand new DK DLC adventure in Mario Wonder! I expect this will more than likely happen around Christmas season, because it’ll make a lot more sense. Mario Wonder will officially be a year old after October, and DLCs usually come a year after a game’s release. So yeah, that’s what I think should happen next after this new direct, what do you guys think?

I don't think there' going to be anything during the summer, it's just not good for large audiences as people are on vacation and there are events that already get whatever attention remains. September sounds more likely. The time to hype up a game, I dunno. It's possible they got burnt with both Zelda and MP4 and will try out something shorter. September-March is plenty of time.

I want to start my (very long and rambly) comment by saying this is a solid video, and you make a lot of good points. Wanna get the unambiguously nice out of the way first, so if you only read one thing, it’s that I think you did good here. And as a TL;DR, I don’t fully agree with everything, but you are right about a lot of things you say in the video. I mean, for starters, the examples you give for games they hyped up well in advance are fundamentally flawed. Breath of the Wild was intended for the Wii U and was cross-Gen after the fact, and Metroid Prime 4 outright had its original build scrapped and restarted. You’re right they hype up games, though- they love their One Last Things, after all. But those are not the kinds of examples that prove your point. Mario Odyssey revealed in January, released October. Smash Ultimate in March for the teaser and December for release. That kind of thing, where there is a solid gap between reveal and release. Also, possibly a nitpick, but they absolutely didn’t want speculation around Switch 2 overshadowing the Direct here, which is why they made it clear, in no uncertain terms, there wouldn’t be any news of it. It was to keep focus squarely on the Switch games they revealed and so buzz would stay on Mario and Luigi, Mario Party, Zelda, and Metroid. But again, you’re totally right- Switch 2 has to be revealed eventually and they can’t put it off to avoid distracting from new games forever. But that’s also a point I think could go towards a Direct in September and one key area I disagree on. We’re still in the transition period between Switch and its successor. Nintendo are not gonna just abandon Switch once the next console comes out- 141 million unit install base would be crazy to leave behind completely. And as such, we’re still gonna need some smaller budget titles for people to buy for the millions that don’t early adopt with the Switch 2. And to that end, we very well could still see a Direct in September focusing on Switch games. Like, the fact Kirby wasn’t at the Direct PERIOD was odd, since Kirby is a franchise that releases games at a decent rate. Be it spin off or new mainline game or remake, Kirby is always doing something. There were rumors of a 3DS and GameCube port we saw nothing of in the Direct which could be early 2025 games. Plus Metroid Prime 4 and Pokémon Legends Z-A are already confirmed to be next year and could very well release after Switch. They could also be cross-Gen titles, but we just can’t say either way yet. Like, I’m not expecting a Direct like the June Direct, don’t get me wrong. Heck, I don’t even fully believe it’ll happen, given the transition period we find ourselves in, I could just as easily see no Direct as I am thinking a low-key, shorter Direct is possible. I just know Switch is definitely gonna keep being supported maybe even into 2026, just because they’d be crazy to just jump ship on a 141 million unit install base. But one last thing, with regard to pre-release hype. Nintendo feels like they’re also trying to not gear up hype too early lately. Mario Wonder was a five month gap. Mario and Luigi is also kind of a five month gap for a game series that’s not seen a new game in 9 years. Mario Party is gonna be roughly 4 and Zelda is gonna be like THREE. For a new ZELDA game, when that’s one of their biggest IPs. Sure, Echoes of Wisdom maybe isn’t considered mainline or is enough of a departure they don’t think of it at the same level as the next BotW style big mainline game. I dunno, I’m not in Nintendo’s head. But I can see they’re kinda lowering the gap for reveal to release, so I don’t think they need quite as much time as you think to reveal the Switch 2’s launch games. But who knows? We could get a reveal in August, we could have to wait for October/November, when they have a conspicuous gap of releases between November and December, if memory serves.

I could Imagine it being like a new smash bros game even though we just got one 5-6 years ago but my last thing is a new 3D Mario the last 3D Mario game we got as of 6/28/24 we don’t have a idea what the future holds for Nintendo, I also think that we will see a new Mario Kart sometime in the next 4-6 months to get us all pumped and excited about the next console. I have a feeling that the biggest game will be a similarity to like a Mario Sports game also I would see them doing a reveal trailer in October/November then the Presentation in January and then launch in March/April

And again, Nintendo isn’t just gonna abandon 141 million users as much as you would like Nintendo to just focus on the successor to the current switch that’s not gonna happen so let’s not pretend that’s gonna be the case did Sony abandoned the PS4 when the PS5 come out? No they did not it’s going to be at least two more years before the current OG switch is discontinued, Nintendo always said that the current would be a 10 year life cycle.

I disagree heavily with you. If a game is released within a couple of Months after it is annouced, I feel the Hype die VERY quickly. That is why if they had the Switch 2 Presentation in December then I would be Happy.
