Can't understand why you don't have more like's. Good honest opinion and review, ok it's probably made in PRC but if it's good quality and a decent price and it's all you can afford (or you don't want to screw your £100+ leatherman all the time), why not give it a try. Sometimes in the Bush craft/ prepping community there seems to be a lot of snobbery about kit and brands. 👍🇬🇧🇺🇲🇩🇪
What I like best about your channel is you often feature inexpensive but good quality gear for budget minded folks. I bought two Next Tool multitools and both are very good items worth the money. One is in my get home bag and the other is used around the house. Thanks for the reviews.
3 years on and thth is is still my go to multi. Engineeerring tollerences are insanely good. You will never have the screwdriver tool fold back on your thumb under high torque. Knife has needed minimal honing to stay sharp. And.... The Scissors... Oh, the scissors. I can still hear them meet all the way along the length when I close them empty. Same with the carbide cutters, though used them less than the scissors. Every snap, click and lock as tight as day one after all this time. Just wish the video had shown the one handed knife opening with thumb.
Been looking for new EDC since I gave my Leatherman to my dad. Was looking at Leatherman but NONE of them have the exact sets of tools I need. Which are straight edge knife, scissor, and can opener. It boggles my mind that none of the Leatherman have these 3 in one tool. Except the big, huge, heavy ones. Nextool looks promising because it has all those 3.
This is in my price range...excellent video. I think I had a conversation a while back on your comments section about this very topic. A lot of viewers like Leatherman, some Gerber, others like other brands. They were all fairly pricey. Money is a little tight, so this one is for me...buying it now.
Got my thumbs up when you showed the tip on opening the saw. Seems these things are either tough to open or too loose. Concerning the wire stripper, try this: Open the stripper to 90° and lay the wire across the tool at 90° and close the stripper down on the tool, "pinching" the wire at the apex of the cutting V of the blade at the point on the wire you want to make the cut. Gradually press down on the stripper blade while rotating the wire. Watch the cutting point as you rotate the wire 360°. You don't have to cut all the way through the insulation to the wire - you are scoring it. Then holding steady and firm pressure on the stripper blade, pull the insulation straight off the end of the wire. With practice you can get the knack of it, build muscle memory and cut right down to the wire without cutting any strands. Obviously much easier to strip solid wire. Hope this helps someone.
Brother, you had me on the Scissors! Ordered placed through your link 👍, scheduled to Arrive Monday, will be on the Job Tuesday! Thanks for the Heads up!
Wish it had an awl and 3 sided file. That nub on the can opener is a jeweler's common blade screwdriver. The awls and files on SOG multitools are the best.
Great review, those scissors are handy i have a schrade multi-tool with scissors like that. Something you may not be aware of on the outside of the jaws where the wire cutters are usually that area is pretty squared to be used as a pipe reamer to debur it, I couldn't tell if these have it like that but there's lots that do.
Yeah been there! However at first read I thought, it's a tool, of course it's going to get nicks and scratches! Then my currently coffee-free brain woke up and I remembered nicked is Brit for stolen! Doh! Laughed at myself, but not your loss. Reminds of the saying, Britain and America: two countries separated by a common language! ATB.
Now then fella followed you for a long time i'm in England most of your content and what you show and test i can't get in particular the freeze dry'd food. But still very good content. However the nexi i've had for month's and the mini are brilliant use both daily at work very good little tool's.
I usually hate multi-tools. I stick with a Swiss Army knife for the size to usefulness, and the fact that I EDC it. I have tried Leatherman's and others, ---- yeah they have great pliers, but their other tools are clunky How is the steel? How much bulk is it in your pocket? The handles--- do they cut into your hands when you apply pressure? For me- an EDC tool is not a replacement for a real tool. It is a tool I can deploy in short notice which can get me out of a jam in many situations
Not trying to troll, I saw someone on YT use a leatherman surge which has a similar wire cutter, they closed the cutter against the body with the wire in the middle. Might work with this tool.
Great review. Impressive design by Nextool. Seems kinda bulky and heavy though. How does it compare in terms of size and weight to the Leatherman Surge and Wave?
Its a bit lighter but feels bigger, I still use it almost daily and its worked great ever since, i plan on doing some more reviews from them in the future.
A very good friend made it for me when I got into the firearms industry years ago, its a block that allows you to drive pins out of certain guns so the pin can be driven out into the hole.
