@@towmater7081 huh, the play is a short pass to the FB. The receiver 15 yards behind the FB is the second read yet this isn't a run it anything else besides basically a FB pass

It’s difficult for the QB because he’s in charge of every position. If you’re a lineman, receiver or rb you just listen to the part of the play that concerns your assignment.

Little misleading as this is the inherently complex nature of the West Coast system. Many more teams nowadays use simpler systems and so a common playcall like the one above would be called: Coryell System: 'Split Change 9 - 9 - 5' Erdhart-Perkins: 'Ghost/Kings'

Why can’t it be something like Numbers meaning the routes to run In the letters to be the protection In animals to be like the formation. For example 5Dshark Water animals mean running plays In every other animal means pass play. That would make it way more easier and all you gotta remember is numbers letters and animals. Very simple 7Dtiger

Playcalling is pretty esoteric. It's kind of like expecting a guy who writes about science to know all the intricacies of actually running experiments in the lab, or a guy who writes about finance to understand how use all the features of certain software. It's borderline useless for writers who just cover "big picture" stuff.
