NGH-029: Legend of Success Joe feat. Jenovi/Ashita no Joe Densetsu/Tomorrow's Joe-Neo Geo Generation 

When the review is better than the game lol. I sound like a broken record but again, great job as usual, Alec. Jenovi showing up being all "my precious" about the Neo CD was a fun bit too.

Brave. Just very brave doing this game. Kusoge of the highest order this one is. I've been curious to try it sometime, but I can't even motivate myself to pop it up on my multicart in over 5 years now. :D

Great video for a very crappy game. Easily the worst Neo Geo game IMO. Terrible graphics, audio and controls.

I am leaving this video a like, not because of the legend that is Joe, but I absolutely love how you got into the history and the story of the team. I’ve always hated this game and I have not ever bothered looking at the anime or manga but now I am interested.

I only played this once on MAME, and it was horrid. In fact, i think this game suffered from an identity crisis. Did it wanna be like Final Fight? Or like The Final Round by Konami?

I genuinely like this game. It can get frustrating in later stages, but like in most games, you can learn the patterns and correct responses, amd itcan be played with some skill. Boxing games in general have struggled through the years, but at least this game tries some interesting storytelling, and can feel pretty satisfying when it all comes together. I wouldn't try to convince anyone that it's amazing, but for the right audience, there's something there. I really wish I could find an AES copy at a good price, but those days have sailed. I'll just have to stay on MVS.

Another top notch video by you Alec. I actually have Legend of Success Joe for the AES. I remember buying it at an import store for $100 bucks when I started collecting for the home console. The owner of the store said it was a horrible game and said nobody was willing to spend the money on it...Being a sucker for unfavorable games, I figured to buy it for the collection. Truthfully, I think there's much worst, I mean this isn't even going to win E3's "Game of the Show" but I think its okay!. A 6/10 in my books. 8^) Also Alec, glad to see you posting back on your Neo-Geo review thread bro. Dude... where did you get the english dub of Ashita No Joe (evidenced by the clips)? I thought that the original English Dub was lost??? I remember that it was going to come over to the United States as “Rocky Joe”; but the dubbing studio opted out after watching the ending (which I will not spoil for those who are interested into getting into the anime) after being curous about the source material itself. I’ll admit, if it wasn’t for this game, I wouldn’t have gotten into what I think is one of-if not the GREATEST sports anime ever. Thank you for the review!

Can’t believe this passed any kind of quality control.

I thought this game was a crappy homebrew the first time I tried it. I couldn't believe this was an actual release. However, that punch out clone looks like it might be cool. They should have used that perspective, it might have been cool to have a boxing game that looks like super spy 🤔🤔.

The other arcade Ashita no Joe game made by Taito is just as bad and actually kind of creepy. It's crazy that the same license produced two of the worst arcade games ever rather close together in release dates.

This manga is where my nick comes from! Also, there's an Ashita no Joe for the PC-88, released in 1983 by CSK. Looks like it's a text adventure, maybe we could see a "review" of it in this channel someday...?

This game looks like an early PC Engine title. The animation is at the same level of China Warrior/The Kung Fu. Joe Yabuki deserved so much better.

I think this game was meant to be released on a different weaker arcade hardware and ported to the neo geo very late in development. Where are the neo geo hardware strengths in this game? It is odd that scaling is never used.

As much I love the anime I hate the neogeo game 🤷🏻‍♂️

Joe it didn´t had success at all.

The graphics aren't too bad in the boxing ring. But the outside areas are atrocious.

Ouch...I definitely wouldn't put this in even my Bottom 10 Neo Geo games. Most of the shooters on there except for Twinklestar Sprites for sure, along with Metal Slug 4 are easily worse games than this tbh. King of the Monsters was also a bore fest, which I'd put below this.

It’s neat to see a Neo Geo game that’s so bad despite it still having some common qualities of other Neo Geo games. The little details like bruises & blood.

8:57 Its Rikiishi who beats Joe up in that match. One particular punch to the temple and Rikiishi's grueling weightloss is what killed him in the end.
