The 2015 Kailua Women's/Mixed Night Doubles was a tournament jam-packed with lots of tennis to both watch & play! So much tennis that when rain plagued the event for a night or two, many matches got backed up in the event schedule. This meant that players had to play multiple matches in a single night, which also meant many players (who played in both the women's & mixed doubles draws) had to battle fatigue as they plowed their way through the tournament brackets.
One of those players, Cindy Nguyen, just finished a mixed doubles semi final round match. with very little break, she had to take to the court right away with her women's doubles partner & University of Hawaii teammate Roxanne Resma. This time, it was for the women's doubles final! The 3rd seeded UH team worked their way through the draw & had rival school team Hawaii Pacific University in their sights. In the finals, they would get that wish as the 2nd seeded HPU team of Kristyna Hancarova & Nicole Hoynaski would also play their way through the women's doubles bracket. Krystina was another player participating in both the mixed & women's doubles brackets that night so right after the women's final, like Cindy, she would have to recharge & get back on court for yet another Final. Yes, both Cindy & Kristyna were slated to play in two different Night Doubles finals in a single night!
Either way, anytime HPU & UH lineup on opposite sides of the net, it would be one to watch!
