Jackson also hired Kris Knoblauch, Holland had zero to do with that. I think for the most part Jackson has been the defacto GM since he was hired - maybe Holland did a lot of the leg work but Jackson I'm sure had final say on every move made once he came on board and I'm sure that after the trade deadline Holland was just doing media scrums as shaunjames said, and had zero input in the hockey operations as he was leaving

you definitely fleeced Buffalo even though Savoie didn't have much a future in Buffalo too many young prospects that are ready for the league and the Sabres needed grittier talent on the back end

At least Zadorov has gone to a team that like last season's Canucks won a 2024 playoff series. Having to play just 16 regular-season games outside the Bruins' home time zone may very well be a perk of playing on an Eastern Conference team.

@wainber1 I think time zone for a professional player should have nothing to do anything with it, just from my own beer league we drive 2 hours Wednesday play at 7 then drive home and go to work at 6 in the morning and that goes all season for us old guys. We just do it for the love of the game, injuries or not doesn't matter. I think millions of dollars is good incentive to do your actual job if you love it lol

@@matthewanderson9754 Yes lol all 16 eastern conference teams only have to play each 16 games per regular season outside the Eastern Time zone but of those Canadian NHL teams that last season each won at least 1 playoff series, the Oilers and Canucks had had to each change time zones frequently, with the Kings-Oilers, Preds-Canucks and Oilers-Canucks series each having extended long enough to require at least 2 flights to change areas after the second and fourth games of such series. The Leafs had come very close to having to take long flights to South Florida (until the Sens knocked the Bruins down to 2nd in the Atlantic via a crucial win), but still managed to lose their opening-round series. The Leafs from the 1989-90 to 1997-98 season took some long flights during the postseason, often times to NHL cities well outside the Great Lakes region and pretty far west, with respective playoff series in 1993, 1993, 1994 and 1994 against the Blues, Kings, Sharks and Canucks having very much fit the bill. Those Leaf teams had managed to go on long playoff runs despite having to, in those conference finals, fly from the Eastern to Pacific time zone. The Winnipeg Jets last postseason also needed to fly lengthy distances due to having had to face a Denver-based Avs team. That said, the time change was only slight with the respective areas based in the Central and Mountain time zones just an hour apart.

@@AlyssaHope Neither Lindholm nor Zadorov played up to their contact last regular season. If it weren't for their playoff performances, they wouldn't have gotten raises this year. Lindholm would need to bounce back to his career average in Calgary to live up to his contract in Boston. Zadorov would need a career year and I wouldn't bet on that.

the answer to all their questions seems to be get more forwards. the oilers think it's still the 80s. their defense and goaltending have been their problem since...well, their last finals appearance. stu skinner is a league average starter, i guess. he's slightly above average at times and god-awful at others, and he's streaky. he's not the reason they lost to florida, but he is the reason they almost lost to vancouver. pickard is...okay. he's nothing special. and the oilers have nothing after that. the defense hasn't been meaningfully addressed since the ekholm trade. as good as bouchard is offensively, his defensive game is weak. darnit nurse makes tons of mistakes., and more money than draisaitl. ceci is either competent or a turnstile, depending on the night. kulak is...okay, but as a habs fan i'm glad we made that trade with you, because the 2nd you sent back was lane hutson. anyway, you totally ignore this portion of your team year after year and wonder why you don't win the cup. if you were in the east, you'd probably be the leafs. yes, skinner and arvidsson are good signings. and you anally raped kevyn adams in a trade. wtf was he thinking? but your roster still has significant holes in areas you refuse to address.
