Those were the first three seasons after the league doubled in size to twelve teams. Expansion teams are usually disadvantaged compared to established ones in their first few seasons of existence, and for some reason, the league was divided into two divisions: the Original Six, and all of the expansion teams. So even though none of them were in any way, shape, or form one of the top two teams in the league, an expansion team was guaranteed to make the Finals, and practically guaranteed to be totally outmatched by their opponent. It's way more about playoff/division imbalance than the Blues choking or anything like that.

I don’t know if the Red Wings or Blackhawks are actually dynasties. I think we are quick to declare a dynasty because we haven’t had a true dynasty since the Oilers. There are huge gaps of amazing teams with multiple Cups for Detroit. (Not to mention that the core of the 08 team was basically different from 97 with few exceptions) Chicago didn’t win the Cup enough times, maybe if they had won in 11, 12 or 14. Keep in mind, the Kings were just as close to a three-peat in that era as Chicago.

Back when players used to only play for teams that were local to them the Provinces of Ontario & Quebec were DOMINATING the NHL. The same would still apply today since 80% of the entire league is originally from those areas. I live in Northern Ontario, Canada and I went to school with so many people that are currently in the NHL. A lot of them are retiring soon or have already retired since I'm in my late 30's.

Sure, I'd like to do that! Unfortunately RU-vid doesn't allow you to simply update a video, so it would have to be an entirely new upload every year, which I don't necessarily mind.

Montreal canadiens vs Tampa bay lightning who will win the 2021 stanley cup?
@jeffthecustomer4907
@jeffthecustomer4907 3 года назад
It truly is an awesome bit of history..... but it should read "every NHL stanley cup final". It leaves out some pretty interesting stuff pre NHL. Like for instance to this day you can see that Portland Oregon won the cup the same year Montreal won its first (the cup passed around like a wand in Harry Potter back then) or that next year Seattle will be joining the NHL competing for a cup they already won 103 years ago.
