Sam Bennett had a goal and an assist and Matthew Tkachuk added three helpers as the Florida Panthers stole home ice advantage in their second-round series defeating the Toronto Maple Leafs 4-2 in Game 1.
Spot on. these two teams are not remotely even but Bobrosky made the Panthers look better than they are. He better steal 3 more for you or it's adios Panthers.
Montour has a great shot from the point - really impressed. I'm not a Leaf or Panther fan but cheering Panthers in this series. Leafs lack a big point shooter like Montour. Hard to get as it is natural - you can't teach it.
@@Tribuneoftheplebs new fans seem to do it. I know hes a real one. Stuck with the team when they were hot garbage and only left cause he couldnt get 8 years in Florida. His contract will be a stinker in the last year though.
I don't think anyone who knows hockey underrates them...they went through a lot of adversity during the season, that fought to get into the playoffs and that builds character...those teams are always going be tough to play. I think there are a much tougher matchup than the Bruins would have been.
Jep, Panthers looking like they might lift the cup, no big superstars, good hard work as a team, good chemistry.. And before this game some Leafs fans said 2. round will be easy 😂😂
What so many people are forgetting this year, is that Florida IS a hugely talented team. Just because it took them a while to gel, after a pretty big shuffle everyone has written them off as underdogs ... but, they're not. Love or hate Tkachuk, the dude moved to an entirely new franchise and built upon an already impressive career. Almost no players do that so quickly with such a high ceiling. Their speed, transition game and relentless checking are wild. In 2013/14 the Kings snuck into the playoffs and steamrolled everyone in their path. Florida just knocked off a consistent playoff franchise, with their own 60 goal scorer in round one. Sure, it took 7 games .. but, anyone who rates the Panthers as an underdog isn't watching very closely. They are very capable of winning the cup and they have no fear. Toronto ( and everyone else ) should take them veeerrry seriously.
Yeah, I watched some there last week, saw ads stuck in the middle and left. Once during a video I could have tolerated but once the second interruption started - bye.
One word describes this panther team RESILIENT and they put the puck on net from anywhere unlike the Bruins and Leafs looking for the perfect pass or shot.
They do play simple physical hockey with skilled players. They don’t shoot themselves in the foot unlike the Bruins who go too cute with the puck. They fly all over the place and dump it in constantly pressuring the opponents D. They’re the best team 5 on 5 right now. Kraken play a similar game. How bout those small hockey markets for a Cup Final?!
@@moheganson won’t grow the game that much tbh and won’t make too much money compared to other markets would be a bad finals if I’m looking at it from a business prospective
Panthers fore checked the hell out of the Leafs. Great energy and superb goaltending from Bob. This playoff has been off the charts across the board so far.
They remind me a lot of the ‘19 Blues who beat my Bruins. Nothing too flashy. Not quite as overly physically imposing as that Blues team but an excellent blend of relentless forechecking, winning puck battles, never quit attitude, and some very skilled players. They fly all over the ice bring it every shift and create chaos for the opposing D to get out of their own zone. And now Bobrovsky looks like a $10,000,000 goalie. Keep it going! Will make me feel better about my perennial playoff loser Bruins (basically Leafs in black and gold) one Cup in last 52 years 🙄
i dont think its a shock frankly...just like I dont think Seattle is a shock...both those teams bring it every night for 60 minutes...good things can happen when you do that. And they are both really well coached.
Bob was a wall and we dominated 5v5. Other than the first couple penalties in the 1st a DOMINANT road playoff game. So impressed with the boys. But still a long way to go.
As a Habs Fan, I remember Cousin's short time with MTL shortly before the pandemic started a month before at the time. 9 Goals, 13 Assists, 58 Matches played, 22 Points, 33 PIM.
I gotta say as a leaf fan Florida is a solid team…really good transition game…they got some bounces and deflections go thier way Toronto just getting those 2 clean goals. Babrovsky steller in this one. Leafs gotta slow this team down, get to work keefe.
@@jaybino3918 I don’t think you watched that series my friend…only fortunate bounce resulting in a goal was JT’s OT winner. You gotta watch games objectively otherwise you will be misinformed and biased.

As a Flames fan, seing both our top draft picks leave/traded and playing in the 2nd round on the 2nd line hurts. Happy for them but disappointed at the Flames GM and management for letting this happen.
@@kataangsucks Calgary is actually a nice place. Edmonton and Winnipeg. If you have ever seen me there I have been kidnapped. Those are two of the worst and most dreadful cities in Canada
It is no coincidence that both Tkachuk and Gaudreau did not want to stay. There has to be a reason behind it. These were both our top players. Calgary is a nice city. But here are some of the cons: the arena is considered old, there is the tax consideration, weather (some USA states have better weather), also there was rumors that Darryl was not getting along with some players. Also I think Tkachuk wanted the 'C' just like his brother in Ottawa.
Oh,I’m sure they’re planning a parade! When they lose, it will be a parade of firings! I think they need two or three more of those 9 million dollar a year contracts! That way everyone else can play for free!!! Until they can Dubas, they ain’t going amount to anything more than a team that just makes the playoffs!
@@dereksbooks So a 3rd of Canada? lmao As a Canadian I'd cheer for any Canadian team to win a cup. Montreal might be hard to cheer for. But ya hate the leafs so much you would rather see them lose then see the cup come home. You aren't Canadian... you are just a bitter human.
pretty close, leafs looked great at the start and at some other few points.. but they missed 3 big powerplay chances, give up a breakaway goal with 2 mins left, and bad games by brodie and mccabe, no stars scoring goals only missing the net. florida's goalie was great and they never let the leafs through the neutral zone it felt like.. we'll see,
The 4th line was terrible tonight for the leafs. Kampf is doing nothing.. brodie has been terrible during the whole playoffs imo. Brodie needa the bench next game...who else do we have if we dont have holl and brodie? Lol This will be a tough series
We already got rid of our demons and won the first round. Of course we want a deep playoff run but I think I speak for a lot of Leafs dans when I say everything else is icing on the cake
Both winning teams tonight have played the same way all year...win or lose they both bring it every night for 60 minutes...good things can happen when you do that. And they both have coaches that are great motivators. Florida -Seattle would be fantastic final series...and you what you never know...all bets are off.
The Leafs were extremely lucky to have won against Tampa. Remember Tampa is a fast pace team but I believe the Panthers are even faster. As a Canadian fan I really wish the best for the Leafs but I don't think they are up to par.
Leafs were playing like it was a goddamn exhibition game in the 3rd period! Lazy skating, no checking, not enough shots...no urgency at all in their game. They were down two goals with like 90 seconds left and they're trying to set up a 23-pass highlight reel play. 🤦♂ SHOOT!
They are very good. I am a leafs fan and me and my buddies were talking during the boston/florida game 7 and we were like who would we want to win? And it was a tough choice, Florida is good, Tkachuk is on fire this year. Should be an exciting series.
William Nylander has to be the most infuriating player of all time. We all know his potential but he just stands around at times. If he moved his feet and utilized his strength and speed he does have more frequently, he could be up there amongst the top paid players in the league. Not blaming him for the loss but his lack of effort at times is maddening
i've been screaming this the whole playoffs long, and even the final 10 games of the season. i'd deal nylander at this point, not going to reup 7+ mil with this effort. somebody needs to tell him the water is frozen, he doesn't need to float that being said, Marner didn't have a good game here. that flyby to create the first goal was 100% on him, and he has like a half dozen bad passes in the 1st alone. its as though they forgot they're playing playoff hockey or something
Dark Horse? Cinderella Team ?These Panthers are looking more & more like the real deal This is 4 or is it 5 wins in a row against teams that are supposed to be their superiors
2 of 8 teams who won game one, won the series in round one. Take it easy! Florida played well, was an exciting game. Good game Panthers and on to the next one.
tkuchuk might not be able to skate by the time this series is over - he got LEVELED a couple times this game. no idea why those big hits weren't in the highlights
What are you talking about? Neither team had to wait. One teams series finished April 29 the other team finished their series April 30. What do you mean not ready. Teams have to be ready at anytime. Do you even now why you posted your comment? 🤣 brilliance at it's best
Does anyone know the name of the electric guitar 'song' being played before the faceoff at 3:05? Been looking around everywhere with no success. Thanks in advance!
I watched this game, the main issue the Leafs has was they were trying to be WAY too fancy, many times they could've shot it when they instead passed it or waited for the perfect moment. You aint gonna score if you don't shoot!
@@stopdroolin8418 Over your head I guess. Could be a shorter series sure.. but people acting like the series is done in either direction after 1 game is ridiculous.
Its game 1. This is like when tampa won game 5 and said leafs are gonna lose in 7 or that after game 1 tampa gonna sweep them. Tampa beat the leafs harder in game 1 and leafs still won the series.
@J_ first I'm a man, not a woman. Secondly I played against guys that are in the nhl. I played juniors against matiss kivleniks, the columbus goalie that died a couple of years ago. I played high school summer league against charlie lindgren, Washington's back up. I trained with brodeur's sons. I was goalie coached by one of the best in the country. The only reason i didn't go further was a knee and hip injury that completely derailed my career right as i was starting to get scouted. After those 2 injuries i wasn't the same because i played a whole year on them.
im a leafs fan from alberta and i accidently bet 100$ on panthers to win. i thought the leafs were away to start the series. so i bet on the away team on the betting site. that mistake got me a 244$ return but i went over to my brothers house to cheer for the leafs. had no idea i was kinda rooting for the wrong team.
I stg, I didn't really understand why there was so much hate for the Leafs fanbase until I joined their post game breakdown after tonight and boy oh boy I know why now. Out here thinking they're gods now because they beat a worn down Lightning team. Now they're up against last year's President's Trophy winners who just took on and took down Boston and think the Cats are nothing. Hoping we take em down again on Saturday to walk back into Sunrise with a dominant series lead.
I totally agree with you. They won 1 series and think they’re the all mighty and have the cup in the bag. It’s ridiculous listening to them. Can’t wait till they’re gone this round so I won’t have to hear it anymore. This coming from a Canadian
Good game. Panthers playing well right now. Amazing they weren’t even a playoff team near the end of the season. It was Pittsburgh until they choked. 😂
Florida "werent even a play off team" lol man you are a funny dude. At the end of the season they played much better than Boston. Don't try to be funny 😀
Its no fluke the panthers knocked off the Bruins. They are built for the playoffs. If thats a perk at what will happen this series. I dont think my leafs will hang with them.
