Saibot666 7 it’s classy cause they’ve been pitted against each other from the beginning the point is that ovi didn’t need to say it and didn’t need to be in the video
I used to be one of those morons who hated Crosby basically because he was good. But over the last few years I've become a true hockey fan, not some homer, and realized just how skilled Crosby is and how much work he's had to put in to get where he is.
I meet syd every month. He comes in to our Juicery (Salud) in Sewickley (pittsburgh). I sell him fresh healthy juice all the time. He's very mellow and actually taller than he looks on the ice. I have exchanged words with him and hes pretty down to earth. Its been a pleasure feeding a pittsburgh legend
You have to figure missing about 1 1/2 seasons due to concussions robbed him of AT LEAST 150 points. And thats if he only scores 100 each season. He would've reached this milestone 2 seasons ago at 27 years old if he didn't miss time. That's amazing and it's even more amazing considering that he's played his games in the "dead puck era" with scoring at an all time low. We as fans should feel privilidged to get to watch this dude every year. He's the greatest player of our generation, and In my opinion up there with Super Mario and The Great One in terms of all time greatness. He's awesome.
First Name Last Name you've legit went through all of the comments saying good things about Crosby and have proceeded to try to say things that almost irrelevant you're simply are butt hurt about Crosby being the best. Let's just name a few things because I noticed that you said that Crosby fans fail to explain why he is the best. First off I want to name a few things ovi does well. He is extremely good at deke, also he has in my opinion the best wrist shot currently. Now I will move on to Crosby. Most people that hate Crosby fail to realize that he does so little things that are simply amazing. These are some of them. Puck protection, Passing, Defending, Wrist Shot, Puck stripping, Puck receiving, puck handling, Skating. You people need to learn that hockey is not all about goals it's the little stuff that leads to that goal and that's what Crosby does.
Proving he might??? McDavid is off the charts skilled and he might one day have the resume Crosby has but right now, he doesn't have anything, doing it for 1 season doesn't match up with doing for 12/13 seasons?
Its a shame cuz its always the players early career actions that follow them for life. Ovi's passion causing him to be, at times, wreckless and a puck hog early on labelled him a d-bag. Sid's barking at refs and the Flyers after that hit that knocked his teeth out labelled him a diver and whiner. All these guys take runs, cheap shot, whine, and cry. Its the way of the game between the whistles. Beyond that(barring TRUE rivalries like Samuelsson v Neely) these guys are all brothers and have the utmost respect for one another.
I respect his work ethic. I respect his skill and strength and poise. I do not respect elements of his personality and demeanor but that doesn't have much to do with what kind of players he is. One of the best of all time even if I would choose others before him to be my captain
I was one of those kids that would call him a cry baby. But you really realize how amazing he is. Its 2020 and I can say that he is the best player BY FAR.
Thanks for saying that, Ovechkin. Now if any Caps fans want to say "Ovechkin is better because he got to 1,000 points first," I'll tell them to come here.
Ghilly Honestly, 80% of Ovechkin's goals are scored from either the right or left circle on the PP. Crosby can score from anywhere. Not to mention he's won 2 Cups, maybe a 3rd this season. If Crosby has 3 Cups and Ovechkin still has none, then you can't even argue he's better than Crosby. It won't be an opinion, it will be a fact. But I feel like it already is.
I remember the days Ovechkin thought he was the greatest, said he had the hardest shot, was the hardest to play against... great to see the respect he has for one of the best ever
DaveDunDee Gretzky Lemieux Howe Jagr Orr Brodeur Crosby That’s my top. It’s so hard to go after that because there’s so many amazing talents. For example datsyuk bure messier forsberg yzerman Roy selanne ovi hulls Richards Lafleur lidstrom hasek bossy. Theaters so many
Jerich0 I don’t think jagr has more skill than geno or Sid but I do think it’s harder to play till your 50 and put up points than putting up numbers like Sid and geno at their age
Pure Class. Damn, Hockey players gotta be among the most respectable athletes around the world. Even the ones that fight with him for the title 'Best player alive' admit his pure greatness and obly talk about what they're supposed to. No offense, but Basketball/Soccer/Football players would've probably talked about how they're better...
The violence of hockey is what separates it from all these other sports. Crosby almost practically slashed off the finger of a Senator's player two years ago, and when you look at the video, it looked like they were just pissed at each other like buddies. I am a HUGE Sid fan, and it's mainly because he shook off brain injuries like that said Senator's player. He's Canadian and he rocks the entire continent, yet people bemuse themselves insulting him for his craft and his team. I hope the Pens win the next eight Stanley cups. Maybe ten. I want to watch the Gretzky age of obnoxious fans twiddle their thumbs while genius extends its grasp.
I'm quite far away from being a Pens Fans, but I remember that game against the Islanders, the first after he missed so much time. And he absolutely rocked them. That was just impressive
As a caps fan, I've hated this guy for most of my life, but you gotta respect his greatness. Ovi will go down as the best scorer of all time imo considering how good Defense are but Crosby will go down as a top 3 player of all time without a doubt
Matthew Spencer He is on pace to beat the scoring record in a time where goals are significantly more scarce. He’s the best goalscorer of all time regardless of what your opinion is.
@@MSpencer1998 what are you on? lmao... Ovi is the best goal scorer of all time, Crosby is the most skilled player of all time. There will be no one to ever score with ease like ovi can. He can stand in the same spot, shoot at the same spot and score every time. The guy just has a natural scoring ability that no one has ever had or ever will have. Then there's crosby which has a montage for everything - puck protection, stick handling, foot/edge work, defensive awareness, deflection, quick release, backhand, and etc.
When I saw Crosby record his 1000 career point I won't I got a little emotional because I've seen Crosby his whole career with the Penguins from being drafted as an 17 year old rookie in 2005, it's be a honor to watch Crosby grow and develop his whole career. I've seen every milestone of his career thus far: from his first career point, first career goal, 100th career goal 200th career goal recording 50 goals for the first time in his career, hat tricks winning stanley cups, conn symth trophies, hart trophies, rocket richard trophies, scoring his 300th career goal, 1,000th point, and last season getting his 400th career goal. It's been an honor Crosby and I look forward to his next two big milestones; 1,000 career game and the illustrious, 500th career goal.
I've really grown to respect Ovechkin as the Ovie/Crosby rivalry has died down. I would watch out for Ovechkin in the playoffs. He's all about winning this year. He's already proven he's perhaps the greatest goal scorer the game has known (Bossy is close but he played in the 80's for crying out loud).
Great of Ovi to say that. I hate that he plays for the Caps cause as an insane Pens fan i am routinely forced to root against him. But i can also appreciate and respect the things he's done. And hitting 1000 points as a pure sniper is extremely impressive. Crosby's role as a playmaker usually results in more points. Not to mention his goal scoring ability. Two outstanding talents that have been incredible to watch since i was 10 years old!
I'm glad Ovi has huge respect for Sid and this is why I respect Washington more than Philly. I ain't surprised Giroux got nothing to say, even though right now Crosby been working not for himself but also for Giroux's fat ass to win a gold medal, and a world cup. Anyways congrats Sid.
Bow down to the second coming...the greatest hockey player I have ever seen. There's no point drawing comparisons to Gretzky - it was a different time and a different game. But given the speed and athleticism of today's hockey, Crosby is unrivalled.
I'm a San jose sharks fan and in the beginning of his career I didn't like Crosby because of how he caused a lot of problems but he shaped up and brought a lot of skill to the game and I respect that way to go sid the kid
i dont like him (as a rangers fan why should i), but godamn it would be shameful if i ddnt say how great of a player he is. im 18 and am glad i that i will get to see him play and will (unfortunately) one day debate why he is top 5(if not 3) with Gretz, lemiux, and jagr(insert whoever is in ur 3 idc).
It was much easier back then to be an offensive beast. Much, much less skills, much more time and space, mostly weak goalies and D... Crosby being the player he is in today's hockey is just unreal
The best thing about him, and there are several, is the way he looks for his teammates every time he scores. There is never a big personal celebration. It is always about the team. That is why he has all the team championships. That is what drives him and nothing else.
Perhaps he saw Crosby & the Rimouski Oceanic play in the Memorial Cup in 2005. I mean, there were 2 OHL teams in the final four that year, so it wouldn't surprise me if he followed attentively.
Great player and well deserved. Good hockey players appreciate other good hockey players. It’s why I play hockey. Not as good as most these guys, but it’s still an amazing sport.
